Jeannette Ryals where to buy the hula hoop
Can we use any back pain relief waist belt?
Pragya Bisht of you have back problems o would consult your dr but I have found for me...... any neoprene padded one helps keep me from getting bruise-- I still wear one even now because I spin my hoop so fast that if I don’t wear one-- I can still be sore after an hour workout
@@jeannetteryals6180 Great! Thanks Jeannette! ❤
@@Jyothilifestyle-or4sm I would love to teach you but unless you are close by geographically the only way I can do it is online
I couldn't keep the hoop up for 5 milliseconds before watching this. Now, after watching once and trying your technique, I am up to a few seconds. It may sound like nothing, but it's big for me! I am inspired!
Oh believe me- I am doing a happy dance for you-- it takes time and patience and if you could see me when I first started doing hoop...... it was hilarious just watching me.
My hoop spent most of a 60 min session on the floor-- then I started to watch tv and hoop and my body finally got the timing down ( and I stopped thinking while I was doing it) it was like a huge ..... bingo
Keep doing it and soon you will keep it up longer and longer-- it took me more than a month to finally get the timing down- some people pick it right up and others it takes longer.
So yeahhhhhhhhhhh for you!!!
@@jeannetteryals6180 I am doing quite well now! Thanks for the encouragement. I do about 15 min a day now. I only did five minutes a day last week, which was my first week. Once my friend told me to think of it like sex, it got so much easier! 🤷🏽♀️😂 Lol! Music helps too. I can get through a whole song and keep going. Not bad for day 7! 😀😀
Jeannette Ryals you have the BEST beginner video for hola hooping. Watched so many and yours was way over the top in instruction. Most don't talk about movement of the feet as you do. Made all the difference in the world!
Thanks so much! Glad it helped you- have fun hooping
Xo
My daughter is a natural at hula hooping and I’ve been struggling so much with this weighted hoop. I always wondered how she’s able to keep the hoop up without much waist movement, but it’s because she does this technique that you explained naturally! Thanks so much for the tutorial! I’ll give this a try from now on
Yes! Rocking back and forth is the key~~~~~ keep trying ~ literally 10 mins or so a day and your body will eventually put the movement together. It took me more than 30 days of doing it and my hoop spent most of the time on the floor. Then all of a sudden it was like a lightbulb went off and then..... easy peasey. Check back in with your progress:
اول يوم اشتريت الطوق سقط فورا وفي اليوم الثاني عملت لفتين وثالث يوم عملت خمس لفات وسقط واناالان اعمل خمسة لفات فقط ويسقط مني ياالهي لمااضع الطوق احاول الحفاظ عليه فاعمل حركات عشوائية لااستطيع التحكم بحركاتي فيسقط وهذاهوالخطا ماذاافعل ربما الايام القادمة اكون افضل لاأعلم شكرالك@@jeannetteryals6180
I saw this video 4 years ago, and it changed my life, I was Hula-Hooping for the first time and by using these techniques I learned very fast so despite my herniated disks I am stronger than ever! Jeannette was my mentor, Thank you very much :)
@@SweetHulaHooper I’m so happy for you!!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
@jeannetteryals6180 ❤️⭕️☺️
Wow you made that look so easy, I'm defo going to try this as mine really does spend a lot of time on the floor
it's way easier than you think. the weight kinda balances it out.

Cannot for the life of me keep the hoop up! Feel like giving in.
@@suelanghorn9469 I am the same
Thank yooooou! I’ve been so frustrated because I just couldn’t get it. I’ve read online tutorials and watched other videos, watched this video once! And finally got it! Also just saying out loud that it’s ok to be a beginner was so helpful! Thank you again!
Angie Briens so glad you’ve got it now! It took me a good long time to pick it up and then all of a sudden it clicked. Enjoy!!!!
Im watching this on 5/16/22, and wow! You are good!! Clearly beyond the beginner stage, but "Thank you for this video!" I pray I can start again, get it, and keep going!! I need to loose 75lbs.
Come on- start again- you can do it!!
This is the best, most helpful, tutorial I’ve watched so far. Looking forward to getting my hula hoop in the mail soon.
Hey- thanks so much- it was my first video and I was nervous but hey- we learn and grow! Can’t wait to see how your hooping comes along
Your step by step explanation is so helpful! I JUST started with a hula hoop and can only keep it up for about 3 rotations. But your video is encouraging, I’ve watched it several times, stopping to try what you are doing, and watching more. Thank you so much!
Kenny Butcher keep at it. It takes time but you will get it soon enough. Post a picture once you get the hang of!
Thank-you that was the best explanation I’ve watched yet. I’m a 58 year old beginner. I’m enjoying it but I have to say struggling a bit. But I’m not a quitter! Love Karon from England x
Karon French hey there! 50 is the new 30- I’m in the second half myself, lol but my mind tells me that I am 29-- now if only the rest of my body got the
Memo...... lol-- you will get it just keep trying it for 5-10 mins a day till your body realizes the motion -- see ya soon in another video
OMG THANK YOU FOR THIS VIDEO. I thought I was a complete failure. I'm working on keeping it up...having a hard time with my 3.2lbs hoop....But I'm not giving up. will try this technique
How r u at it now?
Mz Herbin oh absolutely not-- it took me a good month and all of a sudden it just clicked one day
@@jennyjones4875 I'm great at it now. I can walk and hoop at the same time...

@@jeannetteryals6180 oh I'm struggling so much... Glad you've got it x
I got it! Yay me!😀 This is the best video I've seen to help me learn again how to hula hoop. And my hula hoop is a weighted one.
Way to go!!
@@jeannetteryals6180 I bought a weighted one about a week ago, and I just don't know how to use it 🙈😅
I found your channel today, so I hope there's hope for me 😂
Fun in the Kitchen! There is definitely hope- it took me more than a month trying it every day-- I started doing it and watching tv and all of a sudden it just clicked
I think my mind stopped trying to think about and my body just did it......
Give it time- laugh and have fun

Excellent video instructions! Just got my weighted 2.5 lb, 39" diameter fitness hoop and with your helpful tips can keep hoop going for about 30 seconds. Hopefully I will improve as time goes on. Thanks again!
Thank you Jeannette, i just bought a hula hoop this morning and i have been practicing with your lessons. Really helpfull
Angel Custodius hi can you give a update? Did it something for you? I got mine today
@@sarahthatsme8687 Nowadays i keep using my hoop and i feel very well practicing with it. Didn't loose so many calories ( 200 per session, 30 min ~), but its really fun and confortabe. Just a different way to doing exercise. Enjoy!
Angel Custodius thank you! It hurted so bad😭
Thank god for you & this video couldn't keep it up but now i have it 👌great work out in its funny i remember as a child we would do this all the time its like riding a bike you never forget thanks again.
I got it also. Yay me!😀 This is the best video I've seen to teach me how to hula hoop.
As a 66yo, I just started hooping again and was having difficulty keeping hula hoop up. I thought there is no way I am going to be able to hoop again but I practice daily 5 minutes in the morning and 5 minutes in the evening. I keep forgetting to rock back and front. I will try the rock motion tomorrow. Thank you for the suggestions.
Thank you Jeannett for the instruction. It is really helpful. I learn from hula 0 loop to more than 100 loops now. I am very appreciate your video. Happy thanksgiving.
I'm glad you enjoyed it. Happy Thanksgiving to you as well.
The best teaching way i have ever seen

Glad to see this as a newbie. In the front stance, I have been going side to side instead of front to back. Thanks
Susan Lorenz you are welcome!!! Let me know how
You come along
I can’t for the life of me keep the hoop up! 😩
Yes you can- I believe in ya!! Watch tv and let your mind stop “ overthinking “ and your body will eventually pick up the rocking-- try it every day for 10-30 mins just to get the rocking motion-- it took me more than a month - my hoop spent more time on the floor than anywhere else
Dont feel bad I can not either.
I'm fed up already, only trying about 15 min. With all the videos I'm watching, I should be an expert 🙄

I love hula hooping lol did it lots as a kid lol mine is the same as yours…great video subbed
I was actually giving up until I saw this. I'm gonna give it another go. 15secs was the max it states on my waist

Fantastic!!! Happy hooping!
Wow...your arms are the everythaaaang!!!
I’m planning on buying one but like what’s different from this to a normal hula hoop and also is it easier to use then a normal hoopla hoop coz I’m terrible at them
I think it’s a matter of preference and what you are doing it for...... many people “ dance” more with lighter regular hula hoops so they toss them, use multiple hoops and the motion is more swirling
--
With water or weighted hoops the motion is more of a rocking movement and once you have mastered the motion it’s simple to move and dance to some extent but you wouldn’t be able to toss it or use multiple hoops simultaneously ( and be safe that is....)
--
For me personally I get a better workout with a weighted hoop-- I would like a hula dance hoop in my younger days of gymnastics and baton twirling because I would be able to do those in dance hooping
--
In my older days I like low impact but still difficult workouts but my back bend days are over, lol
--
Some people pick this motion up quick-- it took me about a month to pick it up but once my brain stopped thinking and my body realized it was just rocking back and forth I took off
-- hope this helps
--happy hooping
Love this video, you've excellently explained this. Cant wait to try this out. Thanks
Thank you Steff. I hope you enjoy hooping!
Really great video the steps you take to explain perfect...thanks
Only just discovered these existed in 2025! And this is the first tutorial I found. Been trying for over an hour. Don’t understand how your brain can separate keeping the rocking while there’s a hoop flinging around you. That’s serious multitasking. As soon as you let go of the hoop your body automatically wants to connect with the hoop and being practically stationary while just rocking is very counter intuitive. I have a feeling I’m never going to manage it. 😢
@@chiarabay9364 I totally understand what you are experiencing . It took me a solid month to keep it up more than a min or so- I finally tried it while I was watching television - that took my brain out of the equation so my body could just do the movement without me overthinking it-- finally got it after that so try something like that but don’t give up- it will eventually happen- just keep rocking forward and back and keep trying g till it
Stays up more than it falls to the ground- happy hooping!
Your video was so helpful but I still cant get it lol.. guess I'll have to keep tryin!
I couldn’t keep it up at all when I first started- literally 30 days of working out in the class and I would have to actually work out after the class because my hoop spent more time on the floor than anyplace--when I took it home and tried it while I was watching tv my body finally got the movement down. ( my brain was busy paying attention to the tv ) and my body finally got the rock of the feet and push of the hips-- keep trying- you will get it
Nice instructions I do this everyday because my bf buy a hula hoop hahaha... Thanks
ABSOLUTELY WONDERFUL VIDEO!!
THANK YOU SO MUCH!!
All the best and God bless
Thanks so much Michelle!
Thank you. I was going to give my hoop away. I will keep trying

@@linapetraviciute5223 I’m so glad!! It becomes fun and a real workout or even more fun when you can keep it up and moving for longer and longer periods of time- happy hooping!!!!

She is cool, thanks for teaching,
The best video I have seen I love it can you please tell me where I can order the hula hoop that you have thank you so much for the video
First Lady Chyna Craig I have a hard time recommending someone’s hoop because they are either too small or too light for most people to use successfully--- I make my own-- I have 2 videos and it is pretty straight forward

Wow hula hoop❤l try hula hoop
Hey Jeannette, where can I get this hula hoop please?
I make mine - I have 2 videos on how to do it because I don’t like the hard ones mine are soft with water inside
Oooh, would you mind sharing links to those vids please? 🙏🏻
Thank you! 😁
Just bought a weighted hula hoop and I can’t make it past a couple spins and honestly I think that’s mostly from my toss, but I’m inspired to keep trying even if it’s 15 mins of doing one spin it definitely makes you sweat 😓
I so need this, cos i have the hula hoop, but it spends more time on my floor than where it should be lmao 😂🤣😂
When I first learned mine was on the floor 99% of the time too!!! ❤️
wooow u make it look so easy 😭😭
Looks and videos are deceiving-- I made this video after spending 30 days trying it every day and failing-- I tried a class and the hoop spent most of the time on the ground
I finally started to watch tv so my mind would be occupied and I could STOP thinking g about it-- my body finally got the movement
So -- don’t beat yourself up at all-- some people pick it right up and some people are like me-- it takes awhile
Happy hooping!!!
Thank you 😄 i did it
MariasWonderland I am soooo happy for you!!!! Keep up the great work!!! Enjoy hooping! I ❤️❤️❤️❤️it
Great video explanation.Ready to start
What is brand of hoop, you're using? I'm looking for one that is padded. Great instructions!
Thanks! I finally got the dang thing to stay up for more than a rotation and a half!
+EmileeArsenic
Keep doing it----I took me almost a full 30 days before I felt comfortable. It is a total timing issue----watch tv and keep doing it---all of a sudden it will just snap and you will get the timing down!!!!!
@@jeannetteryals6180 i've never felt so uncoordinated in my life
@@steffaniesays I hear you! When I first started I took a class for an hour twice a week--the hoop was on the floor more than it was up---I would have to go workout after the class because the only exercise I got was from bending over to pick up my hoop----it took me awhile to get the hang of it-----like a month,.......so just keep doing it---eventually your body will figure it out----don't over think it just let your body feel the hoop and push it

I love the hula hoop. Where can I get this exact hula hoop? How much does it weigh?
Hi- I made my hoop- if you look at my videos I have 2 that show you how to do it- mine weighs about 3 pounds
Which type (weighted or dance)and size and material ,weight of hoop is to be used when we want to use it for strength building and weight gaining for lean people? Thank you in advance.
Vijaya Kumari weighted-- check out my video on how to make them- the best ones are padded
Hi Jeannette!
I am a man in my later 60s and bought a weighted hoop recently to try to learn this again ... I was a child when I first learned. Anyway like most of your subscribers and followers ... I keep losing control of the hoop spinning around my waist. I will admit that I have a bjg, protruding belly causing the hoop to either go above or below my waist. It seems thaf my waistline is too big to keep the hoop located on it due to physics. Do you have any suggestions? I am using a 42 inch 160 psi hoop! Thank you in advance!
~Lee
Lee Yates hey Lee-- all bellies are welcome!!
1- does your hoop come up to your belly button when you place it on the ground in front of you?!!
A bigger hoop is sometimes easier to handle because it allows more time for your body to catch it as it goes around
2- keep you stance in a split stance close together- - so one foot in front and the other slightly behind as if you were cross country skiing- to give you a visual-- but a foot or so from one heel to the top of your other foot
3- weighted hoop is a rocking motion vs aregular hula hoop which is a hip circular “ swirling” motion
4- put the radio on or the tv something that distracts your mind and keep trying-- eventually your body will figure out the rhythm-- when we think-- we overwhelm ourselves
It took me about 30 days to pick it up and I have seen others pick it up from the get go-- so let your body FEEL the hoop as it is going around and eventually you will get the push and rock forward motion and then the back and rock back motion
Let me know where you are in the world and maybe we could do a Facebook live so I can see what you are doing
@@jeannetteryals6180 Hi again Jeannette!
First ... thank you so much for your punctual, kind, and informative reply as I appreciate it.
Perhaps I am not understanding exactly what a weighted hula hoop is. Mine has no liquid or anything that gets moved with centrifugal force. I only know that it comes to my belly button as that is the one thing I know is correct for my size. :D
I keep checking my stance and perhaps my timing is also wrong. I picture trying to take an "egg shaped" object and spinning a ring around on it. Trying to keep it in the middle of the egg would be quite difficult!! LOL ... this is how I see my belly!
Anyway Jeannette, I will be back in touch with you on this in the near future as I will be having surgery tomorrow and won't be able do much of anything at all!
:(
Take care and thank you once again for your reply and 'yes' ... we can try a live chat on Facebook Messenger later!
PLEASE STAY SAFE ...
~Lee
Lee Yates best wishes for surgery!! Your hoop doesn’t have to have water - it travels similar to other weighted hoops ( these are a harder material but work the same) is your
Hoop hollow like an old time hoop from day the 60-70s? Let me know-- if it’s hollow-- you do need to swirl rather than rock
@@jeannetteryals6180 Well hi there Jeannette! Yes, the hoop I have is hollow, but of very thick material. It was made to order from this company and was shipped coiled around itself. There were very specific instructions for unpacking it and letting it just set flat for 24 hours to naturally unwind itself. The ends are tied together with a special push-button connector that locks in place ... I hope this helps.
Also Jeannette ... thanks for your well wishes as I truly appreciate it!😊
~Lee

Have fun with it..... take the pressure off yourself...... the timing will eventually come.
where could i order that hula hoop?
Now what muscles are being worked on when hula hooping?
I’m not sure where to buy them since I make mine- I do have 2 videos on how to do them.
As far as muscles- it works abs and posterior chain ( your back etc) but really works everything- great cardio workout too
@@jeannetteryals6180 I will be sure to check those videos out.
Im a guy, and believe it or not, somebody told me that hula hooping will help them in "personal" arenas, such as when one is with a partner, due to the musles being used and the movement of the hips. I was wondering if that is true...?
Thank you so much! This video helped me so much ^_^
It seems so easy yet it's so difficult for me, my hip bones are bruised after just one day, I don't know what I'm doing wrong
It looks easy-- but it certainly was not easy for me at the beginning---- simple yes-- easy-- not so much
---
You may need to wear a (padded waist trimmer)
I always wear one-- it is a neoprene waist belt that is about 8 inches wide and Velcro’s around your waist
---
Don’t give up-- it took me literally 30 days of trying it for an hour a day-- most of the time it was on the ground
---
I finally ( or my body did, lol) got the back and forth rocking motion down while I was watching tv and NOT thinking about it
@@jeannetteryals6180 Thans for thr tip! I have a belt, I'll put it on for tomorrow's excersise. Definitely NOT going to give up, when the hoop is not on the ground I actually really enjoy it lol
thank you, very good
Nickie Gur thanks! Hope you have fun hooping!!
Great find just started got to 5 spins
I started the same way---if you can keep it up for 5 rotations you are on your way to hundreds! Keep it up.
Does it have to be a weighted one. Will a normal hula hoop work?
If you want to use it as more of a workout yes----if you just want to have fun and just hula hoop, the technique is totally different. For weighted hoops you rock back and forth and for non weighted/dance hula hoops it is a swirling movement
Thank you ❤️
Thanks for great tutorial
Thanks mam❤
What is the ideal hoop weight should i start with as a beginner?
I thought it was easiest to start a bit heavier like 3.5 pounds- it isn’t like a regular hula hoop so the lighter it is- the more difficult it is to keep it moving continuously
Hello! How many inches/feet is your hula hoop? It appears to be about 3 feet across? Where did you purchase yours? Thank you.
Hi Liz
I made mine- if you go to my channel and my videos I have 2 that show you exactly how to do it-- and I have a video on choosing the right hoop as well--- it should come to around your belly button-- any smaller makes it difficult but too much larger makes it cumbersome ---- mine measures about 38 inches from the ground and about 7 and 1/4 inches in hoop thickness ( my hoop, padding and tape)
I have a free cheat sheet of all of the exact materials I use to make mine-- if you would like it-- send me an email- my personal email is jlryals11@gmail.com Hope this helps!!
Omg am going insane i can't keep the hoop up to save my life! Am about to chuck the bloody thing out the window 🤣
Keep going _I was there when I started/ I finally got the rhythm down when I was watching tv and not overthinking it. My body finally got the moves but it took me 30 days of doing it every single day
Same hahahaha
You make it look so easy I have a pouch and a 5lber. I do realize when I suck my stomach as much as possible, it helps.
hi, im a beginner in hulahoop, is it normal to get minor bruise ? im using a 2.5lbs hoop. thanks
Jing and Jean I didn’t bruise but my waist was sore so I used a neoprene waist belt
Love this.... iwill try it
rollychanel Vibes thanks! I hope you have fun hooping!
Will this help me lose weight?
Hi there- any cardio can help to Lose weight I it I done for 30 plus min several times per week- make sure your physician give you the ok-- the beauty of using a weighted hoop is that it helps build muscle endurance as well as cardio endurance-- just add on a couple of minutes more to each session until you can keep your heart rate at a nice even pace-don’t forget strength work and take a good look at what you are eating--- because we can’t out exercise what we eat as we get older
Once your doctor gives you a thumbs up -- just have fun
Thanks! That is exactly what I needed.
+Carrie VonPseudonym
fantastic! Once you get the timing down it will be fun and a great cardio activity. I hope you enjoy it.
i am a beginner shall i start with 3.1lb hula hoop.
+suman das that is the approximate weight of most hoops. Just make sure to build up the time you use it slowly so your abs can get used to it
Cool!
Thankyou😊🇬🇧
Oh lord I bought a hula hoop. How long did it take you to get the timing down? How often and how long did you practice a day?
Courtney, It took me a while!!! Like 30 days, lol----Finally got the timing down while I was hooping and watching television one evening. When I first started I took a class and the hoop was on the floor for 95% of the class so I would literally have to go workout after class. It was VERY frustrating. Practice everyday for a month----even if it is for 5-15 minutes and don't think about it. Just do it. The less you think ---the better it is. I am going to upload a couple shorty videos to help with keeping the hoop up when you first start. So, keep an eye out for them.
I can two 2 spins in a row. Jump rope and hula hoop are the two regrets I have from childhood when I felt out because I was terrible at coordination.
2 spins is better than me when I first started
Keep moving and your body will eventually pick up the rocking motion
It’s different then regular hula hooping- have fun and no regrets!!!
Her body is phenomenal
What is the recommended hula hoop pound?
Is 3lb too much for a begginer?
I started with 3 pounds when I started \any lighter and it is really difficult
What hula hoop are you using and where I can buy?
kristine garferio I make my own-- if you look at my videos I have 2 that will show you how to make them
Don't quit!
Gracias
Wow hoping I get this good one day
Quite helpful, thank you ;) 15 minutes a day is enough?!
Romina Antonelli 15 minutes is good for maintenance. I alternate workouts of 15-30 minutes and then longer ones for just cardio workouts 45-60 minutes
Thank you! I've began to do 30 minutes a day in two sessions of 15 minutes! You know, too much pasta here! It works :)
As a beginner is it easier to start with a heavy loop first?
Marlene Lee weight doesn’t affect ease as much as size....... the larger the hoop the easier it is to control
Wow
