      @@jaxcrax9644You have no idea what you are talking about. The fact he set up fake clearing places with fake accts. through a legit named corp. they did business with all the time was a coup. In a law office due to fluctuating income depending on lawsuits and clearing all liens etc. it is easy to do. When clients are lied to from a supposed tried & true family of atty's it is easy again to reroute the funds and set up paperwork to look legit. The fam. has been running the show for decades. Powerful never questioned,his partners trusted him. His kids both got away with killing ppl. due to family connections & reputation. As an atty. he took an oath to tell the truth in dealings with the court & clients. He chose not to thinking his fam. name would carry more weight. When you rip ppl. off (and it's easy to do)the more you get away with the more you push the plan. He feared no one for any reason. This is not straight add & divide math. She did a great job. She had no reason not to trust him. She also knew his other fam. that worked with this group believed anything he said. As a nurse for 46 yrs. I have taken care of every kind of person from all walks of life. As a military wife for 15 yrs we lived all over US & overseas. I have seen powerful ppl. in action and ppl. would never question anything as they knew what consequences could be. Even in the military the ppl. dealing with payroll etc. got away with a-lot. They had simple math and still managed to keep two ledgers one real one fake. It happens all the time. Eventually most are caught after yrs. of stealing. Doesn't deter them from continuing no matter the consequences. Add in the thrill of deceiving and getting away with it. A sociopath like Alex enjoyed every minute of it. In a town/location where a family had tight control over everything to include being DA's charging crimes on innocent ppl. and they went to prison you better be 100% sure you can prove every single action of wrong doing. Even then they may shut you down. Liars manipulate others daily. He lied but had power to deter any one from coming forward. and calling him on it. His brothers,father,uncles etc. all powerful and make things & ppl. go away all the time. Just saying it is not an easy to catch crime either.

    Unbelievably damaging testimony of ongoing fiduciary crimes and professional betrayal of all involved. The embezzlement amounts collectively are HUGE, multiple millions. This is absolutely part of motive as the discovery of his embezzlement would result in his subsequent disbarment and financial ruin.

    • @cindyinnew
      @cindyinnew Год назад +8

      And that financial ruin would have led to his family being ostracized socially, especially in a town where they were feared and their power was everything. People who have talked have repeated stated that social climbing was very important to Maggie Murdaugh. And she was already asking questions. Wanting to know why Alex was refinancing their paid for beach house and why he took out the loan as a “remodel” when the house had just totally been remodeled. The defense wants the jury to believe that his financial theft was a mere temporary lapse in judgment. 10.5 million? Over years? And that’s just what they have found.

Also the amount of money that is clearly going through this company/firm is huge and he was in a position to do what he did. Yes, she is direct and to the point. it is hard to drill down to her job performance because we don't have the particulars of her contract with the law firm. The issues re: payouts from trust funds are the responsibility of attorneys - by law. Even if aware of irregularities, the witness may not have a duty beyond notifying the partners. It would depend on her contract with the firm. She may have reported to a committee of the law firm's executive committee with no duty beyond that. It is a question of what the law firm paid her to do and the chain of command. I don't recall that Jeanne is a CPA. If not, she is not necessarily under the duties of a CPA as a private employee of the law firm. I recall that her credentials were excellent and largely in the form of post graduate academic degrees but seemed to be in the categories of business management, compliance and more senior non-legal aspects of running a large professional business organization. As to possible prior abuses, the issue seems to be that the attorneys had "secret" trust accounts not under supervision of the law firm. Thus, if reports for the individual trust accounts were not required to be given to Jeanne, she would have no way of knowing of irregularities. This back shop accounting system has been going on for years. Finally got burned. Badly.

The best case I have ever seen and followed: Lawyers vs Lawyers, both speak the same jargon language. The proceedings at its best when legal practitioners face each other in courts. Lets see what will be the verdict of every single allegation and charge. That will be interesting if it trurns out to be politically influenced as he might be equitted based on the interest of National Security. What about the victims and the victims families? Any news about Buster? Was he in any chance assisting his father? How much Buster knows about the fraud and the murders? Buster is in court quite and observing!!!. I have no judgements to pass onto him yet! How innocent and how guilty....
