Miss Cindy, I realize that my comment to you is the complete opposite of this Double Murder Trial, but here goes: In October of 1963 my mother’s younger brother Tommy who lived 3 blocks from my mother, father and my 3 older siblings. My mother was pregnant with me and I was born 3 months later in January of 1964. Anyway, Tommy had made sure that his daughter, who was in elementary school, left to go to school, then Tommy taped a note warning whoever read it, to not allow his little daughter come inside after school let out, then Tommy locked every lock in his house, called one of his other sisters, Beverly, and while the two were talking, my aunt heard a loud noise and asked her brother Tommy if he heard the noise also. Tommy told her that he did hear the loud noise, and as calmly as ever, he told her that he had shot himself with his rifle. My aunt while completely hysterical, told Tommy that she was going to call for help and then call him right back, but Tommy begged her to not hang up the phone because he was dying and just wanted her to pray for and with him before died. In the meantime, with my mother, one of Tommy’s other sisters living 3 blocks away, did not know what had happened with Tommy. My father’s supervisor had to track my father’s delivery route and inform him that the police needed him at his brother-in-laws house because they needed a family member to identify Tommy’s body there at his(Tommy’s) house. After that was done, my father went home and my mother was surprised that he was home so early from work. My father walked up to my mother and wrapped her in a hug and told her “Tommy’s gone”. My mother told my father that Tommy was at work but after work he would back home. Knowing that my mother was not understanding what had happened with Tommy, my father, as gently as he could while still hugging her told her “Tommy is dead, he shot himself”.
