I did think Perez would get a win or two- which I'm not guessing now. I didn't see McLaren and Ferrari being so close this early in the season. I thought we'd have an early season Red Bull slaughter with Checo picking up one or two bad races for Max, and then the others would catch up in the second half. But I still thought Monaco Charles win.

some people called this race boring. but during the entire time my heart was on my throat, every lap lasted longer than usual, my stomach was in knots, but I could just feel this was really the year charles would make it. I'm so happy for him and ferrari. dreams DO come true.
If he couldn't win from Pole, with a red flag on lap one, he never could have. This was a precessional "race". . It's not Charles' fault (and I'm happy for him) but Monaco simply isn't a race anymore... And how you were stressed out is beyond me lol.

Sorry, but it's only tricky in qualifying, or if you happen to have a major failure... and even then it doesn't really matter - Danny Ric lost his MGU-K (losing 25% of his HP and most of his rear braking ability) in 2018 and he still won. It just isn't a "race" anymore... it's a "qualifying" with a start and a single pit stop... Once they removed the pit stop (with the red flag) even Ferrari couldn't ruin it for him.
I've been following Formula one for 56 years. Charles winning at Monaco has been the best thing I've seen. Gilles Villeneuve winning in Montreal is number two.

It is special because even if Monaco is known for being the track that rewards the most the polesitter, by almost guaranteeing him the win, Leclerc lost the race 2 TIMES starting from pole in the past, due to poor luck each time. It is special because of his childhood, his roots, he knows the streets by heart, because of his father, because of lost friends like Jules Bianchi who scored his first points here and could've had the same fate than Leclerc (meaning being the lead driver at Ferrari). Finally, it is special because the 2024 season has only started. If Red Bull doesn't find pace quickly, Ferrari is only 24 points behind them in the constructors.
