Bought ones for my mom, she loves music, but has been deaf from her left ear since 18, she heard in stereo for the first time in 30 years, was wholesome to watch
The aftershokz are quite brilliant to use at work where i have to use ear protection (foam plugs) and it makes them sound alot better with the ear plugs and keeps my ears safe from all the industrial noise at the same time👌
I’ve used treks titaniums for years now and they really help me drown out extra noise (I have aspergers and public areas stress me out) because it lets me focus on whatever I’m listening to while being able to still hear the world around me.
this video is now 3 years old and popped up on my feed again. I have been using my shokz for 3 years now and i LOVE them for work, running around, riding my motorcycle, and being places where i need to be open ear.
I remember years ago, my Mum had some fully waterproof ones of these for listening to music while she was swimming. They were specifically advertised as being for pro swim training
Aftershokz has a model with the very same purpose: the XTrainerz. Basically an MP3 player built into the headphones for swimming. Main difference between hers and these is probably the fact that it carries 4 gigs of space.
I'm not a cyclist, but I have a work phone along with my personal and I've had these for a year. I use these all day to listen to podcasts at a low level so I can still hear and respond to people, and being able to answer either of my phones while they're still in my pocket is a huge plus. edit: I just wanted to add, I just watched a video where a guy was cleaning the grunge and earwax out of airpods. Not a problem with these.
Similar thing here. The bleed really isn't all that bad unless you're blasting your music and honestly at the lower levels I tend to play at (25-40%) you really can't hear it at all as a bystander. I also love having the ability to listen to music and just be aware of my surroundings at the same time. Yeah, the sound quality can't compare to buds / traditional headphones, but I'm content with it as the biggest perk is their convenience (not to say the sound quality is terrible, it's decent).
I wear the cheaper aftershocks literally all day, every day. I've been watching all your videos through them, actually. I agree, the audio quality isn't amazing, but it's fine. Why I love them is simple... They can just be worn, 24/7 comfortably. You can pause your podcast/audiobook/music and have a conversation without removing them. You forget they are there, and start to think your phone has a magical ability to just beam music straight into your ears! Plus, I run a lot of power tools for my work and hobbies... With these, you can toss in some earplugs, protect your hearing while running an angle grinder, and still be lost in an epic story via an audiobook! That IS magic, in my book. I have many headphones, and after getting these, I completely lost interest in all my other headphones. They aren't the best at audio, but they are the best at daily life. Heck, you can even put gaming headphones over them, and listen to a podcast while playing your favorite video game at the same time, without effecting the audio of the game at all! MAGIC!
I’ve used the Aftershokz Aeropex for over a year, as a daily driver. They’re my favorite headphones ever. Not the richest audio experience, but it’s amazing, because I can have conversations with people while listening to things. It’s amazing.
Yeah these are great for work. Use them daily while sitting in an office listening to podcasts but I still need to hear the phone or coworkers yelling questions from another room.
Hey man, there's a little portable "speaker" called Soundwaver WHD, that doesn't have any drivers. You have to attach it to a surface, like a window or a table (the bigger the surface is the higher the volume), and it sends vibrations to create the sound. It's a funny little gadget and you may find it interesting. It costs around 70€
Great thing about these headphones, is that you hear it through the bones, not the ears. My little brother who is partially deaf was able to hear music clearly through the headphones that my brother bought. Technology is amazing.
If they can do that they are really amazing imagine people who were deaf at birth can use theses to learn how to speak and know how their family sounds it’s really cool what technology can do
I watched this review on my set of bones. I've had these for 3 months now and LOVE them. They are not audiophile quality at all, but for podcasts, audio books, and general RUclips streaming they are GREAT. I mostly love that I can wear them anywhere, and they are so comfortable I often forget they are on.
Proud aftershockz owner, they're actually really convenient in their intended use case of running and yeag you're losing quality but the lightweight stays-on-your-head build still feels premium in spite of that
Same i love my areopex since i can't use normal earbuds on the factory floor of my workplace because of forklift and shit. They aren't super good for music but they are quite nice for podcasts and audibooks
Both of my parents have the Aftershokz. I haven't personally noticed any bleeding out, but I guess they listen to their stuff quietly, or my hearing is shit (but I don't think it is). Its pretty helpful for my dad who's gotten rather hard of hearing due to years of working in loud factories. I'm just happy he's able to listen to stuff without absolutely blasting it, and causing even more hearing damage
I daily drive the Aeropex and I'm that person who needs to lister around the house while I clean and do work. Hands down nothing else will let me listen to music or a youtube video and wait for my wife to call my name
I can say that running a mellow game soundtrack like hollow knight or oblivion in the background while working or walking around is amazing, you got BGM for your whole life now.
A few seconds of complete silence followed by a black strip of plastic being dropped into frame as someone says "*Bone conduction*" has to be one of the most intimidating youtube openings ever
Reason why voices are so good with these things is that the technology was optimised with communication in mind. Militaries around the world utilise these sorts of things so troops can both communicate with other units while keeping their ears entirely unobstructed.
How's the audio bleed on them in your opinion? I want to have these for working in the office, where I still need to hear my surroundings. But I'm concerned that others might get annoyed if the bleed is too much.
Literally found your channel earlier this week and watched like 7+ videos and searched to see if you had reviewed the aftershockz and a day later here it is! Your vids are super entertaining and im am by no means an audiophile.
I've got a pair of the Z8s myself, I bought them for one of the exact reasons you mentioned, I was interested in the idea of the technology, but not enough to spring for the Aftershockz. The big thing I liked about the idea was having a single device that could both do "listen to them while still being able to hear background noise" and "listen to them in isolation" with a nice pair of earbuds put in. Unfortunately the leaking means that they aren't appropriate for a lot of scenarios, so "single device" kinda goes out the window. If you are (ignoring Covid now) in a cubicle then the bleed is probably ok, but if you don't have any barrier between your coworkers it's probably not. Sharing a couch is right out, and they are probably on the rude side for an airplane as well, if you aren't going to be sitting next to family. I will say that with ear plugs in they did do the job both on the plane and even mowing the lawn, also if you hold them a little tighter against your bones than the headphones do themselves (say a headband) the sound is transmitted to you far more effectively, so you can lower the volume, and between that and the headbands dampening it that helps with the bleed a lot. But how often are you wearing a headband? Also they aren't particularly robust, my baby got her hands on them to pull them off my ear and pulled apart some of the casing instantly.

Proud aftershockz owner, they're actually really convenient in their intended use case of running and yeag you're losing quality but the lightweight stays-on-your-head build still feels premium in spite of that
I use mine at work so I can hear my coworkers without turning off my music, also the battery life lasts my entire shift, so they are very hands off
Same i love my areopex since i can't use normal earbuds on the factory floor of my workplace because of forklift and shit. They aren't super good for music but they are quite nice for podcasts and audibooks
Just use open back headphones, they sound way better and you'll still be able to hear your coworkers
@@gayusschwulius8490 i don't think my boss would appreciate that, and the customers would probably report me
@@qu0temarx722 there's always wireless buds with hearthrough/ambient mode enabled.
@@LyK0sa those are more expensive and have less battery life

They bleed because your bones have become the membranes, DankPods. Like I learned in medic school in the Army: Bones BLEED.

Reason why voices are so good with these things is that the technology was optimised with communication in mind. Militaries around the world utilise these sorts of things so troops can both communicate with other units while keeping their ears entirely unobstructed.
Communications device for sure. You'd figure that at least one of these sets would be engineered for music..

Skeletons: *Ah yes, finally headphones that work for me*
I bought the after shocks for myself on my birthday, I use them frequently. I like them and they were worth it for me.
I love mine. I wear them almost constantly. I actually have two pairs.
How's the audio bleed on them in your opinion? I want to have these for working in the office, where I still need to hear my surroundings. But I'm concerned that others might get annoyed if the bleed is too much.
@@ThatLaloBoy I’ve never had anyone mention it. I used these in class head 3ish feet from someone they didn’t know I was listening to music.
@@ThatLaloBoy I use them at work everyday in an openspace and no one ever mentioned it. The bleed is fine under 50% volume I would say.
I accidentally skipped 5 seconds when I put this on, so the first thing I heard was “You can use these!”
Literally found your channel earlier this week and watched like 7+ videos and searched to see if you had reviewed the aftershockz and a day later here it is! Your vids are super entertaining and im am by no means an audiophile.
I'm actually super super stoked that he listens to LPOTL, seriously my favorite podcasting group. Keep up the amazing content, proud to be a patron :)

Also they aren't particularly robust, my baby got her hands on them to pull them off my ear and pulled apart some of the casing instantly.
almost 1 year later... im extremely glad youtube recommended you to me

The Frank bits at the end are really making me want to get a snek
