Here is my comprehensive mod tutorial for the nerf quick 16 dart tag 2011 blaster. This blaster is so much fun. I remove the air restrictor, improve the air seal, regrease the barrel and seal the air release holes.
Overall the mods make this blaster ludicrously effective.

I just finished doing this mod 30 min ago. It took a while since I didn't have a drill bit that was quite long enough to reach everything, and putting the gun back together is a pain in the ass, but it was well worth it. There's a significant increase in range and FPS if I'm not mistaken... for anyone that wants to give this a shot, be warned that it is time consuming and oftentimes frustrating. But damn, the result is great. Thanks so much man, I owe ya one!
If you want a real noticeable difference you gotta remove the air restrictor

One thing I found out from taking mine apart is that the plunger assembly DOES separate. There is a metal pin holding the plunger tube to the other thingamajig. it can be pushed out with something of similar diameter.
Lol. You show us all the stuff we don't care about, we know you struggled to get it back together, but a piece by piece would have been real nice.
You're never too old to have fun. Plus being a 25 year old will make your mods more complex and professional.
@LordDraconical just wanted to mention that there's a second air release hole on the bolt on the reverse side from the one you show being plugged. It's much smaller and farther back on the bolt near where it becomes the plunger. Making sure to plug both will probably help out people who are complaining about crap ranges. It must be something new for these Dart Tag blasters, because the N-Strike breaches only have that main one. Hope this helps.

Lol so I'm guessing the air restrictor was messing with the streamline darts. But anyways, this looks like a cool mod. I'm about to get this gun but not really sure if I can handle modding it myself. Great video. :)

@CodedLockFilms its just the way i hold blasters, It is awkward to hold with my long gangly arms and large hands. The raider/quick16 manner of holding is more comfortable for me. Its personal preference only.

Great tut vid. Pretty new to this nerf stuff. My son got a Night shot, and that ended up buying more nerf guns, and trying out bigger models. This one is good out of the box, but this mod helps a bit. Im not going to say I got 50 feet yet, but lobbing them its possible. Firing streamlined is GREAT. Gun now has a real nice POP when it fires. I would recommend a little better step by step on re-assembling, but all in all great vid. I used a 3/8s PADDLE BIT on my drill. works way better.

TIP! Try filing the front ironsight either sharper or file a notch into it. I recommend filing a notch into it.

It's good to know that it can fire streamlines now.
there is a second even smaller hole in the tube it's further back in the crack where two plastic parts meet, it's hard to explain but it's there
@OrangeBlackinc Slamfire is when you hold the trigger down so when you pump it, it shoots the darts right a way, It can increase you firing rate a little bit.

Heya Drac. I've been a fan of some of your videos recently. I have a question though. Would it be fine if I just remove the dart post and cover the air holes WITHOUT removing the air restrictor? Or do I NEED to drill through the air restrictor for all the other mods to function?(air holes covering) Thanks.
five things i like about nerf guns (1) there easy to mod (2) you can shoot them at people without having to worry about hurting them (3) you dont loose the ammo as much as airsoft ammo or paintballs (4) you can shoot them indoores and (5) they are cheap to buy ----------- sometimes.
@bruzer4821 when i drilled out mine a spring and a few other small things fell out, you'll knew you've done it right when you look through one end and can see out the other.

@princeofGreece300 thanks, i ended up buying the alpha trooper anyway, only because i couldn't find the quick 16 in the stores.
I had to take the one I thrifted apart to remove chunks of the previous owners darts and one of their blue crayola crayons.
You should file off the two little nubs near the bottom of the clip on the inside. Then, the Quick16 becomes a Quick18.

you should do a mod on thing that hold darts so that you can take it out and replace it.
@LordDraconical I have to disagree, I quite like the Alpha Trooper's priming handle. What didn't you like about it?
This one looked like it was really difficult to mod, but it seems so worth it. I'll have to consider picking one up.

im not sure why im watching this. im over nerf and on to airsoft and real guns, but the quick 16 still interests me.

I noticed that you didn't do any mods to the spring in the Quick 16 by adding e-tape, was the stock spring already doing well on it's own or would that have been overkill on the plunger tube?

how did you drill out the air restrictor? is it possible to take every bit apart or u have to leave the parts on when drilling it?
I just did this mod myself, but I couldn't figure out how to reinforce the spring. I looked all over my town for a spring that was the same size with a heavier gauge but I had no luck. What would you recommend I do? After modding the O-ring, the spring just doesnt seem to have enough force to really push through.
Do you think this blaster would hold up with 20 lb spring replacement. I have on that fits but I don't want to break the blaster.

when i was drilling out my air re-stricter i hit a spring that ws behind it, did i just totally fuck my gun up?

Question, do you know what the diameter is of the spring our the housing for the spring (yellow end-cap)? I ask because I was going to try and add washers to the end cap to increase spring tension. Opinion or comments?
does the plastic piece on the slam fire handle easy to break?

When I modded mine, it became much more prone to jamming darts. Did you remove any of the locks when you modded this?

ok, question. I did this mod, and Im not really seeing a huge difference in range. YES, the streamlines work great, I got both air holes covered, did some tape under the o-ring for a great seal. Should I attempt to STRETCH the main spring to try to get more range? also, how tight should the seal be for the O-ring? Im afraid to make it TOO tight so that it would actually slow down the travel. It now shoots everything but suction darts GREAT, but still not a huge range increase.

@LordDraconical Hey drac im havin problems with my quick 16..the problem is that it tends to jam and when it jams i cant deprime it id have to force the priming handle all the way to the front, shoot it..prime it again then i can fix the jam..and that ruins my darts..is there a mod soi can deprime it anytime i want?reply please thanks

@504002910 The quick 16 is still a great blaster. I'm not a fan of dart tag myself, but I do enjoy the slam-fire, and built in clip. It's also a great value at Wal-mart (20$)
@PaulAnthony333333333 Why there both reverse plunger and both have slam fire.
Does any of u guys know how to pad the plunger cuz I've heard about it snapping apart after a while cuz I removed the air restrictor.

Duh you use the raider you can use preloaded clips with this you have to load them:)
On the day I bought this, it was great for a while, but all of the sudden it got jammed somehow and it wouldnt shoot.. It was fairly easy to unjam it, sometimes a dart got stuck in the barrell and others behind it would too.. Anyways I was wondering if anyone has had this problem or if someone could help me out... thank you in advance
