The hardest part on mine was taking both halfs apart they super glued the back together on mine :) but it ended up all good

I found one of these at a thrift store modded and custom painted. It has seriously good proformance.
No, that's normal. The dart pegs keep streamlines from going in all the way, but if you do the AR mod, you fix that.

I did a similar mod to my firefly. One tip, in the barrel mech, you don't have to drill out anything. I removed the entire AR assembly. And unlike the maverick, you don't need the "ring" portion of the AR assembly to put it back together. I found it has better performance and gives a little extra room for the darts especially if you're using dart tag darts. Try it out

This is where i'd say that i'd rather be a old school nerfer than a modern one because the old school blasters atleast in my opinion had cooler functions and seemed so much funner to work on then the newer guns
Agreed. Just look of the shell of this thing. All the new blasters are either focused on power or have gimmicks that make them sub-par to other ones of that time.

Got one from Goodwill. Then I took out air restrictors and double the spring. Now its a monster
the thing about the stream darts is you have to push them down hard enough so that they go underneath the orange bar on the front end. But good video anyway and it will work when i am done :P.
For my firefly, I removed the air restrictors completely. No discs left behind at all, this makes it so your darts get direct air feed, which fires a lot more powerful than the stock gun. I also removed the orange piece in the front, since to me it holds no use, except to hold back my whistle darts. Yes, by removing the orange front piece, you can use whistle darts which are terrifying and intimidating to you opponents

My best recommendation is to try gently prying apart the stuck pieces with a flathead screwdriver. However, if it doesn't come out like that or it takes significant pressure, then it's probably not worth opening- you might snap a vital internal component. You'll have to find a new Firefly if you really want one as your primary.

You have come so far
After AR removal and dart peg removal, this blaster is firing like a stock Elite series. Just push the streamlines deep in the cylinder barrels and they fly 50+ flat. Highly accurate with suction darts, no wild shots. I will definitely be on the look out for more of these.
No idea, I don't use streamlines or own my Firefly anymore. I only have my Maverick and my Praxis. I love love love the Praxis.
You can open the cylinder from the front. Just unscrew those 3 screws. It's much easier!
@SHITONFLICKS I do do commissions all the time, send me a PM, but turning your ertl into a doomsayer would be somewhat expensive. Im not sure quite how much, but itll cost something around $100. Its just a really difficult build with expensive parts. Angel himself charges upwards of 300 for them.
I find it crazy that *THIS* is a direct plunger when so many n-strike guns are reverse plunger

Even though this is an older video, I have a request. The firefly overall is a pretty bulky blaster. Its stock is remarkably huge. So, my request is that you take a Nerf Firefly and 'unbulkify (un-bul-ki-fy)' it. It needs a stock attachment in which you can switch out stocks like a recon, and it also needs some more tactical rails. I hope you try this :D
I did the same mods to my retro firefly but I took a saw and cut off the back right behind the coking mechanism (the dart holders and butt of the blaster) and gutted the electronics and removed the mirror and turret/barrel cover (for the individual barrels look)

Just find one online. Even without the mod, this Nerf gun is a favorite because of it's accuracy.

I put a Nerf rival Apollo spring in mine.
Pry it open with a flathead screw driver and make sure all the screws are out
I like this a lot. Also found my Firefly lying around in the garage but I don't understand something. The part where you said you would turn the dart pegs into discs...I'm new to Nerf, so what does it mean?
@B1NARP0Ny try opening it up and look at the wiring, it might be as simple as batteries or the wires not properly joined. Or the lights need to be replaced
i have another one and i just put a screwdriver through the opening and i just did it that way and i think it works really good.

I had the same problem. what I found (and Drac does not mention afaik) is that there are 2 posts that are gluing the stock together. i was able to break them apart without doing any damage.
so, basically you didn't show how to take apart the air restrictors.. the only motivation why I watched it.
This was the first Nerf gun I got
I use xshot darts in mine. The xshot darts have a 50-65 foot range. It also is un moded.
FYI, everyone. The NEW Firefly's internals are a little different. Not much. But in mine the plunger assembly is glued together and there is no spring/blue thing in the front. They replaced it with what looks like a better rubber seal.

Where did 400 volts come from?
Well for me I got a new firefly from the Christmas tree shop today for $13 and the darts with it are bad if you put the glow in the dark stuff on it
The reason why the firefly is similar to the maverick is because the firefly is the rifle version.
Except in the way they fire. The Maverick is reverse plungered, the Firefly is direct plungered. That's why the Firefly is easier to mod, too.
@Dreskiff23 I dont know about you, but if you're 14, then 4 years is a huge chunk of your life, I'd certainly call it vintage
Maverick springs work also, although I'm not sure if it's as powerful as with a Night Finder spring

Just trying to get things straight, did you Dremel out the 3 spokes of the dart peg and returned only the remaining ring shaped portion? How did you keep it in place? Were the springs and air restricters totally eliminated? This is my first shot at modifications!
From the looks of it he just cut the center peg portion out of the dart peg leaving just a ring, then sat that back in the back of the barrel chamber.
I found one at good will and finally disassembled it.....only to realize the og owner already removed the air restrictors
why dont you try to switch the firefly barrel in to the maverick and let it light up
Isn't it the amps that you need to worry about? Isn't 1.5 amps enough to cause cardiac arrest?

When screwing back the white piece onto the back of the rotating barrel at 3:53, how much did you screw it in? All the way down? Or a lot of room for the spring to be pushed up and down?

i was trying to get the shell of the gun and then the stock was refuseing to come off 5 minutes later i find out the back of the gun was glued together but i still got it apart it will be a bitfh to bend to plastic back though
well i put it back together....but the reloading thing wasnt working very well and the plunger spring in the front was pushing on the barrel so that it couldnt move.....then i guess i pulled to hard on the reloading spring and it broke.....so...ya....and all cuz i was curious if i could fix the light.....then i saw this vid....then boom
believe me vefore i saw this tutorial i did a firefly additon to my nite finder it gets like 60 feet

I hated it.
Barricade is better; its simpler, easier to mod... yeah. and its a lot of fun to use. The only problem is that its loud.
try to put the 8 dart thingy on your maverick
besides the fact its amps that kill you not volts
You know the white rings in the dart chamber that you grind the ARs out of, well mine popped out of the tube and fell down the holes in the cinder blocks around the foundation of my garage and is lost forever. :(

i did a secret strike AR removal, it took about half an hour cause all i have is a oair of tweaser...
So you leave the air restricting springs and let's out???
I wouldn't try this unless your a trained electrician and know what u r doing. One screw up or touch the wrong wire and u got 400 volts goin into ur arm.
Sorry, but it's a DC charge with 2 AA? Besides, just take the batteries out.
Does any 1 know how to put it back together bc evey thing is working but when I pull back the plunder the piper backer thing lets go and it makes a big noise. And the doesn't work happens every time even when itry to get it to work nothing so if someone has video on how to put it back

+andrew davis try taking it apart an checking for a dislodged catch, this happens to me with my guns often, just double crack the catch

hey drac i took out just the springs and other things from the barrel thing and it hardly shot so i put back the other thing and not the springs then it still hardley shoots do i need to take out the post if i take out the other parts ?
The back section of mine won't come apart, I have all the screws out, but it doesn't wanna split. Halp :c
Somehow that little switch that's below the trigger broke while I was doing the mod, so now mine doesn't flash... :(

i tried streamlines in my newer firefly & the dart heads wouldnt go all the way in the barrel. am i just dumb or is it shorter than the older one?

i am in the process of doing this and this tiny spring came out and idk where it is supposed to go. i mean this thing is tiny

@MrEpicNerf barricade..... my friend got it and not even modded it has sick ranges.... its just kinda loud :p
