Also, in the World Wars they used clips to reload instead of a magazine bcuz it was cheaper than a mag, and it was not as heavy to carry like 6 of these clips in one pouch, while you could only carry 2 mags in each pouch.
Yeah but clips and mags irl work differently like in Nerf and obviously have different systems.
Only difference is that irl clips are just simple pieces of metal that just hold ammunition together, but mags are the exact same.
Regardless, you can't just choose to use a clip if your gun uses magazines. (Obviously)

I think that for cases like the Magstrike there's actually a bit of grey going on. Magstrikes are basically automatic harmonica guns, and I've heard the slides on harmonica guns called both clips and magazines, both times by expert sources in the field of historical firearms.

Good question. I think a hopper system is different completely. Technically a mag is a clip according to definitions because it is used to group darts or bullets together as one unit

one really useful thing i do to prevent jams with magazines is putting some double sided tape on the top of the mags where the bullets come out. since the spring sometimes "overfeeds" and causes the gun to jam, double sided tape is non stick and extremely convenient to use

Could you perhaps make a video explaining what dryfiring means and how it effects your blaster?
Dryfiring is just shooting your blaster unloaded, so without any ammo.
Dryfiring can negatively affect the blaster depending on it's potential energy, because obviously things wear out when you use them too much. If you dryfire a blaster with a lot of power for a while, it will basically be slamming power into itself without shooting ammo, so it will just wear itself out and break eventually because it's a strong blaster.
This problem is really only for powerful blasters, but like I said anything can wear out if you use it enough. It's just not something you really have to watch out for if you have a normal blaster.
Also sorry I'm a year late but I wanted to explain anyways.

Awesome video Frank. Especially important part is the point of not being overly aggressive in always correcting people. I used to do that when I was like 14 and learned that it’s a magazine not a clip, and was always starting arguments lol. I like to think I’m more reasonable now.
A stripper clip (for anyone wondering) is a type of clip that is loaded into the breech, and the rounds pushed out into an internal magazine, then the clip discarded. (I.e. the rounds are 'stripped' out of the clip, without the clip being necessary for firing.

Question: Is the removable hopper of the Rival Perses technically a clip or technically a magazine? Or just in some sort of limbo? Because gravity is what does the feeding of the ammo automatically, there's no mechanism that feeds the ammo in.
Technically speaking it could be a clip however just calling it a hopper is ideal

Magazine, holds ammo AND is part of the feeding process of the ammo.
I think thats a quick, easy and (hopefully) correct way of sorting it. (At least its what I use)

Than someone clear this up for me with the definitions provided it sounds like every magazine is clip as it fulfills the function of storing rounds as a unit but not every clip is a magazine because not everyone feeds automatically
