Why is this band so massively underrated after all these years. I first saw these at St George's Hall when I was 14 and still go to their concerts now 34 years later. I absolutely love them 💕

When it goes into 'Its All In The Game' my ears momentarily went to heaven where Lorraine's vocal touched the deepest depths of my soul and perforated my heart...
Never ever at the sweet and tender young age of 58 have I been to a concert ...
Glad to say I will be 59 and I will go to my first concert in October this year to see the absolutely superb deacon blue ..

Every time I hear the great Deacon blue. It takes me back to the best times of my life. Keep playing these amazing tracks. RAINTOWN. The best and most underrated album of all time.
It is one of my favourite albums of all time. I spent the summer of 1987 listening to it and have never stopped. A truly great album followed by the also excellent When the world knows your name in 1989.
If I had to choose between "Raintown" and "When The World Knows Your Name", it would be Raintown. In my opinion, When The World didn't really sound like Deacon Blue. A lot of that was down to the record company and their choice of producers, which I don't think the band were that happy about. Of course the record company were just thinking about maximising album sales. I much prefer listening to When The World... tracks live.

I only heard this live version for the first time a couple of days back and immediately stopped what I was doing to watch it. An electrifying performance of a beautiful song.
The whole concert is on the 'best of DVD' released a few years ago- it is amazing and I would recommend it.

Raintown was THE album when I was going for my running exercises when I played hockey in the national youth team. I lost sense of time and space and it got me in a flow each time I pushed the button of my then cool portable CD player :-). Got me to the idea to use this song as my anchoring song to get in this state whenever I want to. "Born in a storm" pulled me always away from this planet and when "Raintown" kicked in, I took off and increased my pace without noticing it .... To be listened as a full album, should be prohibited to listen to each song individually ;-)

What a great band Deacon Blue are, probably underated in the scheme of things? Still making great music, and live still a major attraction.They also avoid the trap of becoming their own tribute band, by still releasing new music. Long may they continue!

Very underrated, the songwriting was crafted very intelligently and sang with a soul and sincerity that is severely lacking in today's world of processed packaged songs.
