Hi guys! Trying something a bit different this time, comparing bass strings:
Roundwounds vs Flatwounds!
Both tracks were recorded with a bit of compression on the way in (UAD 1176 Rev.E plugin) but no EQ at all.

Most people say you MUST use flats on a Mustang but dam if those rounds didn't hit the spot. Gonna try a set myself.

The rounds had a more old school feel but the flats stood out with the triplets and quieter tones, good stuff.

I recently got a Mustang bass and made the error of buying short scale strings but since it has a strings through body bridge they were too short. Are normal long scale strings the way to go? it's difficult to find medium scale strings in Finland it seems. Also awesome playing btw!

Shouldn't put Long Scale strings on a short scale bass, even if the strings you need are 32" (Mediums).

I bought this bass and the nut came with a larger cavity on the A string it’s buzzing :(

For the 2nd track, if you close your eyes it sounded like Vülfpeck

How did you put long scale strings on this bass? I have a mustang too and it is so difficult to find affordable flats for it, even fender has only long scale ones
Hi Gisele, you can always cut them to the proper length. As long as you cut them nice and clean, it should do the trick :)

You can definitely use long scale strings and cut them but in my experience getting the right scale reduces the risk of dead string that happens when you cut them improperly

@@Thantas it’s a bit tricky! If you have a string-through mustang you need medium scale strings, but if it’s a top loaded mustang then short scale strings will do fine

Nice, but these are long and medium scale strings, Mustang bass needs short scale strings.
last time i was this quick to tell someone to cut the strings shorter i was watching a young friend try to wind his entire low e string.
