I watched five minutes of this video and realized that even more important than your cooking is your grace under pressure and your ability to include multiple activities going on at the same time while you're trying to publish the video. Of course I will watch to the end, but I wanted you to know that you have accomplished even more than you set out to do. B'hatzlacha! Continued success.
You are the reason that Jews never were destroyed. As a seventy year old man, living with care giver I still try to keep Shabbat and the holy days. I watch these videos to get ideas for my own life. Thanks and keep going.
Aside from the fact that the food looks delicious and reminds me so much of my grandmother's cooking, I LOVE that you have a real kitchen! There is stuff on your counters and it is obviously used. I have a lot in my kitchen (trying pare it down and be more organized). It is another thing I picked up from my grandmother. She had a huge kitchen. I always called it the "double kitchen" when I was a kid because she literally had 2 of everything. She used to say "Never a greater blessing than a full and busy kitchen". Thank you for the time you spend sharing so much with us!
As someone in the process of converting to Modern Orthodox Judaism, I loved this video! ♥️ I felt like you invited me into your family and was sitting right there watching you explain how to make my own shabbos. It was so beautiful and genuine to watch and I always love your videos because you radiate positive energy.

I'm just curious, because being raised in a home with a particular religious persuasion doesn't mean you're actually part of that faith. You say you never really felt "home" until you adopted Judaism. What about Judaism appeals to you? Have you ever looked into Messianic Judaism? Just curious. Most people who've actually had a relationship with Yeshua HaMashiac don't walk away from Him for _anything._ Mostly because they've experienced the Ruach Elohim and have known HaShem personally. *_One for Israel_* changed my life (and many others). Maybe you should check out their RUclips channel and let me know what you think. :)
*WoWFunnyVideos:* You need to research the origins of Christianity. It is a false, man-made religion created by Paul and the Romans. Therefore, anything that comes from the "New Testament" is NOT scripture that was given by God. The Christian "Old Testament" is the bastardized version of the Hebrew scriptures (Torah), that Christianity has twisted, mistranslated and taken out of context to make it appear as though "Jesus" is the Messiah - he ISN'T, never was and never will be! Please do the research and find out the truth about Christianity.
+Janis Hart : lol Umm... I hold a doctorate in theology. I specialize in the Abrahamic religions. I don't know what gave you the impression I am uneducated in Theological studies, but you're mistaken. Suffice it to say, you have demonstrated a nescience in Christianity with the stereotype laden reply you posted above. Maybe you should do some quantitative research and try again. smh.
This video left my heart so happy. The way you navigated the chaos with love, patience and joy was just stunning and inspiring! The family atmosphere felt so welcoming, too. The “I hope nobody ate my pizza” was so funny, and probably one of the most commonly uttered phrases in the the world 😂. G-d bless you and yours 🙏💚
I loved this! Can you do a how to video for shabbat with prayers included? From beginning to end? Its ok if its a long video, i want to learn. You are amazing, by the way. Thank you ;)
Gentile and Christian here BUT am so Impressed with your grace and dignity! What a Dynamo of energy and multitasking abiIity! I have subscribed...videos are well done...not perfect perhaps but very very well done. I am 75 yr old retired clergyman and you have captivated me.! Recipes are interesting and authentic! Thank you for opening your home, your heart and your culture! LOVED your video!
I did it last week, followed your advice and started thinking it was possible to prepare the Shabbat meal and work and it worked! Thank you for your awesome video! It taught me a lot and encouraged me! Thanks!!
I loved your video! I grew up in a big family that had a restaurant. I can remember helping my Mom out in the kitchen both at home and in the restaurant. Families are so busy that they don't cook at home or eat together anymore. It is so wonderful to see a family that cooks together and eats together! I am so glad that you are sharing your traditions with us. Our special meal of the week was Sunday dinner after church usually at 12:00-1:00 PM. Although my Mom was crazy busy, we always had a great meal together on Sunday. My Mom was like you in that she took traditional recipes and reworked them to take less time and to be healthier. I used to call her 'Econo Mom' because she could get things done as efficiently and economically as possible so she was able to spend more time with her family. I can see that you are an 'Econo Mom' too! I can't wait to try your recipes and see more of your videos!
Iv'e never had jewish food, ever!!. but boy let me tell ya something, that food look's delicious.. Great job, you look so happy cooking for your family, when you think about it, it's so much more than just cooking for your family your setting wonderful memories for your family and when your children are much older and mom passed away your children will alway's remember there mother's love! Peace and love from an Italian fella..
Surely you've had chicken soup! Ever had a bagel? Also, there are Jewish communities all over the world, so there are authentic Jewish recipes of all kinds.
Hi, I found out regarding the spices, Some garlic powders have Pork related product in it . I use fresh garlic until I find out as to which companies that don't produce it doesn't use pork related product in it.
Rivka, thank you for inviting me into your home and especially into your kitchen as you prepare your Shabbos supper" (that is what we call our evening meal in Louisiana, LOL). I am new to Shabbos and I am so amazed at all the food that your prepare for one meal. It is so helpful to see you prepare unfamiliar dishes; you make it look so easy. Also, Rivka, your spontaneity and your way of being yourself makes me feel as though we are good friends. I too, like the comment mentioned below, would like to see the finished dish if at all possible. Would it be possible for you to video your family's Shabbos meal (if not too intrusive)? and/or do a video explaining how to clean up and serve the Shabbos morning meal and the Shabbos "lunch" without breaking Shabbos. Thank you for giving so much of yourself! Paula
Paula, question for you if you are still around -- would you ever mix a fish with chevre? I can't eat it because if the rennet, but I enjoyed goats milk in louisiana when I was still Milchig
Very good idea indeed . You can also add the lemon juice at the same time so it makes a really rich marinade . Overnight soaking the salmon in this would be excellent .
I met Rivka Malka one day in person. What a wonderful soul. You can feel her sweetness and acceptance of others radiating! I love her.!!!! Thank you for the picture Rivka Malka❤
Shalom! Great video....looking forward to more. It was refreshing to see a down to earth, in real time spontaneous cooking video! You have a beautiful and cheerful spirit. THANK YOU for sharing and please share more. Shabbat Shalom😊
Your so precious, I not only love, watch, and follow as many videos, as time allows for. Thank you for showing, sharing, and creating new ways for us to cover our hair.. Yes colour, after years of traditional black..and bringing out the inner beauty of the female energy!! Your a blessing!! Sending all my love!!
What a great video. Thank you so much for sharing! Here is my salmon recipe: Using the same salmon cut, I place the fish on a sheet of foil and liberally coat on olive oil. (I create a tin foil baking pouch with the most dense foil available (or two layers of standard foil).) I season with garlic, dill, s&p on both sides. Then I arrange sliced fresh lemons atop the fillet and seal the foil pouch. This is then baked in the oven, sealed at 350 for approx. 20 minutes. While that is being prepared I work on other meal items. The end result of the cooked salmon is one that is tremendously moist, flavorful and wonderfully aromatic. Btw - I love your tiled back splash! Random, I know! Shabbat Shalom! New sub.
This video was so long, but even more worth watching! I loved it. Loved it loved it loved it. I didn't think I'd be watching it for so long, but you kept me watching!! Haha. You have such a great presence, it doesn't feel like I'm watching a video, it just feels like I'm there. Thank you for sharing with us. I'm gonna watch some more! :) Shalom!
Rivka, I love all your videos! Thirty mins is never too long when hanging out with a friend, and you are down to earth and real, so you feel like a friend. I'm especially hooked on the tichel videos! I always look forward to see what you'll do next ;) so fun! Shalom
I LOVE this video. Not too long at all. I love that it was a little bit disorganized, but the recipe ideas were so great. Very simple. And too, even though you were showing us how to cook in a rush, you were so upbeat and wonderful with the kids and everyone there. Keep it up! Will be watching more of your vids! Thanks!
I loved this! What amazes me is the enormous packets of ingredients and spices and everything you seem to have in America, and how many electric sockets! I think I have 3 sockets in my whole kitchen!
You are such a sweetheart! Thank you for sharing. I am half Jewish and we light candles and say prayers (almost) every Shabbos. It is fun for me to learn more about the traditions and history. Your food looks so good too! You can tell it’s made with love.
I loved this Vid! I really like when you do vids about preparing for Shabbos. I first came across you through your Challah video! Shabbos and my role as a wife and mother during Shabbos is so important to me and I love how you present it!
What makes you and your videos so beautiful is you being so natural and honest on camera. I feel as though I am in your kitchen, alongside your children, waiting for your request on peeling carrots or tilting the camera. ..... G-d bless you and your family from England.
+ Dahlia Cohen I hope you & your community are okay; every time I visit England I feel more and more conspicuous and uncomfortable. Not that it's always so safe here in NYC, but at least in my neighborhood (UWS of Manhattan) I never feel like I stick out even when I'm walking alone or with my family.
Just made the chicken soup exactly... for shabbat! Can't wait to enjoy it during the sweetness of this kodesh day! B'SHEM! Todah rabah for sharing! You did an amazing job preparing for shabbos! Quite inspirational 😊
LOVE this video. Keeping it real! I adore just popping in on your via youtube to see how you function and getting your terrific tips and recipes. I made your chicken soup already and oolala. Fabulous and rich. Please keep more of these impromptu videos coming. They are so refreshing.
I truly enjoy all your videos, I learn something from each one. I relate to you and your sincerity comes through. I’m converting to Conservative Judaism so don stop. Asking videos. Thank you, Margie
Great video and try not to worry about how long it is just keep cooking & baking great food, and people tend to forget about the time simply because they enjoying the video, well at least that how I am, have a great day God bless you & your family always peace and blessings to you all.
Awesome video love the way you made me feel. Just like a neighbor and you're teaching me how to cook Sabbath meal. Thank you so much for the coffee and lesson.bye bye
fantastic video! I don't watch too much tv so this "long" videos are great for me. Love seen you at ease, cooking with the kids around. That's why family style food is full of love. Two things: that knife sounds sharp! and please next time can you show the finished food (if you can) Thanks!
I love the way you have tied your head scarf . I am not Jewish but would love to learn to wear a Jewish style ladies scarf . Could you plz make a video on the scarf tying method ? Thankyou very much Rivka .
Dear Rivka, Chakchoukah is a tunisien meal too… with some little difference in the process and spices it exist different version of this meal relative to the seasons… Thank you very much !
I am always looking for fantastic recipes for Shabbat so I decided to give the salmon and stuffed mushrooms a try this week beforehand to make sure I like them. Holy cow, thank you so much for posting this video! They were fantastic! My whole family loves them!
I love every video you make and I would love to see more like these! Lately, I've been struggling a bit with feeling passionate about my Judaism and watching your videos renews my passion for my faith and inspires me so much. Thank you so much for that! I'm looking forward to watching your next video!
We bake our salmon in the oven, and it comes out so moist and buttery! It never comes out dry. I haven't cooked it on the stovetop before, I'll have to try it out of curiosity.
So thank you so much for sharing this video, I never had a Ba mitzvah and only celebrated Passover . My favourite cake was chocolate babka and of course chicken matzah ball soup and potato lattes.
Great video, you are a great family lady with a good sense of food and good cooking. Your recipes look wonderful & time saving - Many thanks & Shabbat Shalom!
1. You are a doll! 2. Is all this food for just Friday night or is it eaten both nights? 3 what do you do about breakfast and 4. Can I use a crockpot to cook on saturday for the meal that night ?thank you
Cynthia Jones We definitely use the crockpot most Shabbats. We are Torah Observant, not Jewish. We submit to all of Yahweh’s laws. Without adding anything extra to it 💙
you are very sweet and it was fun to watch but not everyone has a bunch of helpers. I am the most efficient kitchen worker I know but my easiest shabbat prep still takes 3 hours, as I do every last thing myself. sometimes it takes me an hour just to peel, chop and prepare all the vegetables I will be using. I also clean as i go, because if I leave mess everywhere there is no one but me to clean it up and I will be to exhausted.
@@sedsworld1672 Hot-plate covered by foil, turned on before Shabbos (and the platter with food on it is covered to keep the heat in) will help keep food hot that's made in advance. Chabad.com explains some ways to follow the laws and still have hot food at home after shul (www.chabad.org/library/article_cdo/aid/95914/jewish/Food-Preparation-on-Shabbat.htm). In my family, for lunch we often have dairy: a favorite menu is hot soup (vegetable consomme with sliced carrots & plenty of dill) and then poached salmon with sour-cream or yogurt sauce, green salad, new potatoes kept hot or at least warm and whatever green vegetables look good at the market are in season (steamed artichokes are a favorite as are green beans, asparagus, snow-peas, and zucchini). Then we have hot tea (I make a lot of tea in advance and keep it - and also lots of plain water - hot overnight), some sliced cheeses, fresh fruit (In season I love serving berries with lightly sweetened whipped cream) and whatever cake or warm crumble I've made (or if we have guests, maybe they've sent ahead a treat from one of the excellent local kosher bakeries - I don't want to insult anyone but I don't serve food from anyone else's kitchen in my house, with the exception certain kosher businesses where my husband knows and trusts the supervision).
I came across your video, looking for other videos on celebrating the Sabbath and I'm so glad that I did totally got because I like my cooking to be as simple as possible!
Hi Rivka Malka Perlman, I am a new subscriber for a couple of weeks. Today I was hooked on you and watched alll these videos. I watched Rivkah Malka Tells Her Story, Do We REALLY Accept Converts, What is Tznius Or The Woman In The Home, Rivka Malka Perlman, The Ultimate Modest Dressing -How To Dress Modest Bohemian, plus How To Make Shabbos Meal in Half An Hour. Previously also one on your gorgeous Scarf. I admire you, respect you and will emulate you. Your meal preparation gave me desire to eat those mushrooms, the Chicken Soup and even the egg dish, and I am a Vegan! I enjoy your cheerfulness, your honesty, all your teachings. You are my teacher and I am thankful G-d blessed me with you. Blessings to your children, husband & home. Thank you so much. Sonia Sortet
This is FANTASTIC!! I don't know when I have enjoyed a cooking lesson more, I just wish I had a written recipe for it all. I am now starting the potato pancakes so this might give you an idea of my very limited skills..haha! I never had the chance to see my families Jewish side, they were from the old country at the worst of times and never really got over it so seeing this gives me some insight as to what my Bubbe must have gone through..you are wonderful !!!
I agree with you I don't like to watch long videos but I stuck with this one because you are so much fun to watch...... thanks for sharing a little bit of your life with us
Instead of peeling carrots, I use a vegetable brush. That outer layer has so much nutritional value. As for the onion in chicken soup, I use yellow onions and leave the skin on. This gives the chicken soup a gorgeous golden color
My first time to watch your video in cooking shabbos meal, and it looks great & yummy! I admire your wholesome personality & cooking expertise! Baruch HaShem & Shabbat Shalom from the Philippines!
enjoyed all thirty plus minutes :) just awesome to see what my grandmother's life must have been like during this spiritual time. My father was Jewish but I was brought up Christian. really hope you do more of this type of video. thank you
By your sister, she says when Chicken soup is cold all the fat rises to top so 123 can skim it off. That makes things alot easier. Did you ever check if accurate ? Do a project together, I think I agree keeping skin on adds flavor. Also looks tastier when served. Thank you so much for video.
I’m 7 minutes in and loving this video. I loved it within 30 seconds. I’d watch the whole thing now, but I only meant to watch a few minutes while making coffee. Saving this for later. Well done.
I absolutely loved the video, everything made sense, you have a very calming spirit to you! I’m going to make the salmon the way you did on the pan and the soup as well.
I loved the video. I like long videos right now because I have all day morning sickness with baby #6. So I'm laying on the couch dreaming of being able to cook again. Great video. thanks so much for sharing!
Thank you for posting. I am just beginning to learn about making the Shabbos meal. Do you cut up the vegetables in the chicken soup after it is fully cooked?
30 min. It can’t be done...my first thought. I spent all Friday prepping Shabbos dinner. Always fun and makes me smile to bring joy to people who enjoy it.

+Janis Hart : lol
Umm...
Thank you Rivka! Your joy in life is contagious!
Station Victor Mike .. could you please direct me to something that discusses that, I tried to research that and found nothing
Station Victor Mike Ty. 😱h boy! I’ll have to check.
I like the 'real and the feel" of this video. This feels like my own home when I'm cooking, hectic yet happy.
I am so happy to see a Jewish woman covering get heir!!! Such dedication to God and modesty bless you and thank you so much for the video!
I love that you have this channel!! you were my inspiration in creating my own.
I'm so glad!
I skim my soup and keep the schmaltz, which I use instead of oil, in my matzah balls. It adds so much flavor and they are nice and light.
i like to leave salmon in oil and spice mixture overnight or at least for a couple hours to marinate and soak in all the flavors before cooking
+Edwina McLaughlin Okay!! SO good to know!
+Rivka Malka Perlman shabbat Shalom from Nayarit México
Oh Rivka,
You are so real, and always with lots of love, what better place to be with the children. Wonderful video!
New sub.
That’s exactly how I make my salmon as well. So delicious.
:) Shalom!
Love it and your energy you have an aura around you of light.
What you endured after your accident bettered rather than bittered you.
You emanate joy.
You are so inspiring to me!! I hope one day I can make Shabbos this beautiful for my future family :)
Rivka, this was so cool and easy. I plan on preparing some of these dishes on a weekday!
Thank you 💖
Just made the chicken soup exactly... for shabbat! Can't wait to enjoy it during the sweetness of this kodesh day! B'SHEM! Todah rabah for sharing! You did an amazing job preparing for shabbos! Quite inspirational 😊
I am home recovering from a heart attack and I find your cooking videos very comforting thank you for making me feel better.

I truly enjoy all your videos, I learn something from each one. I relate to you and your sincerity comes through. I’m converting to Conservative Judaism so don stop. Asking videos. Thank you, Margie
Thank you for allowing all of us into your home for the making of this wonderful video!!! Todah rabba! Shavua tov v'chag sameach!
+rac rac thank you!!! Great idea!! And yeah, I was noticing how sharp that knife was too!
Great video! Watched it twice while cooking for Shabbos. Thank you, it's such an inspiration.
thank you it's a great homey video.
I *loved* your experiment. What a great video!
I loved it! It was fun watching you prepare with such joy!
My grown son thanked me after Shabbat for making memories! Shalom
That was wonderful! It was just like visiting in your home and having a girlfriend teach you how to cook. Love!
I am always looking for fantastic recipes for Shabbat so I decided to give the salmon and stuffed mushrooms a try this week beforehand to make sure I like them. Holy cow, thank you so much for posting this video! They were fantastic! My whole family loves them!
Please make more of these videos!!!
Loved this video!! I love learning healthy ways to eat!
God Bless you!!
Is kosher groundmeat different than groundmeat you buy at a regular grocer? I cannot find kosher groundmeat where I live.
I love every video you make and I would love to see more like these! Lately, I've been struggling a bit with feeling passionate about my Judaism and watching your videos renews my passion for my faith and inspires me so much. Thank you so much for that! I'm looking forward to watching your next video!
You're so authentic! And a blessing to your family 🤗 God bless you!
Enjoyed watching and hearing you. Thank you for the invitation into your preparations in a real life way. Shabbat Shalom!
We bake our salmon in the oven, and it comes out so moist and buttery! It never comes out dry. I haven't cooked it on the stovetop before, I'll have to try it out of curiosity.
Autumn Spring How long do you cook it for? Please and thank you 😊
You are lovely to watch with your beautiful smile and happy way. thank you for the video
Shalom 🕊😊 Fun to watch you cooking.
Without adding anything extra to it 💙
How do you prepare the mushrooms so that they're fresh for Saturday? Thank you and I LOVE these recipes, you gave me some wonderful ideas!
Great Video, I honestly enjoyed it, I really wanted to see the finale of everything you cooked
you are very sweet and it was fun to watch
but not everyone has a bunch of helpers.
You are a great cooker and wonderful mother that cook and keep your traditions.
how do you keep your food warm for the next day? I'm really struggling with this part. thank you for your time and sharing! God bless!
Pasi-Fourmyle Wifey I too am struggling with this /:
Awesome! I'm trying to do more of these, too. I had wondered about the true lemon. Teaching us about the courses helps, too!
+mcomeslast The True Lemon worked:) It came out great:)
+Rivka Malka Perlman thanks!
I came across your video, looking for other videos on celebrating the Sabbath and I'm so glad that I did totally got because I like my cooking to be as simple as possible!
Does anyone know if Rivka make videos teaching how to headwrap?
HI Sonia, It's awesome to meet you! Thank you for all your excitement!! Love that - "I want that Egg dish - and I'm a vegan!"
Man! I don't have time to binge watch all your stuff.... but I cant stop!!!!!!!!
This was so nice , just being in the kitchen while you cook . Loved this :) Greetings from New Brunswick Canada :)
Finally received my knives and peeler. They really make a difference. Thank you!!!!!!
im so happy! I was wondering if anyone would try them.
I love long videos and you are wonderful and happy to "be around". Subbed.
My first time to watch your video in cooking shabbos meal, and it looks great & yummy! I admire your wholesome personality & cooking expertise! Baruch HaShem & Shabbat Shalom from the Philippines!
Which sausage did you use for the chokchooka ? You are not allowed pork .
enjoyed all thirty plus minutes :) just awesome to see what my grandmother's life must have been like during this spiritual time. My father was Jewish but I was brought up Christian. really hope you do more of this type of video. thank you
+T palmer Thank you! I can see that - I sure will!
Great video. I so enjoyed it. Thank you for bringing us to your home. Everything looked delicious. I too, am allergic to eggs.
Is there a video showing how to tie or wrap the head scarf?
I loved the video. I like long videos right now because I have all day morning sickness with baby #6. So I'm laying on the couch dreaming of being able to cook again. Great video. thanks so much for sharing!
+That Crazy Catholic Mom Hilarious!!! I'm getting nauseous just thinking of it!
I loved this, so much more fun than a cooking show. What do you do after the soup had cooked?
AWESOME...LOVED IT! I WANT TO LEARN HOW TO PREPARE SHABBOS MEALS MYSELF...THANK YOU SOOOOO MUCH...LOOKING FORWARD TO MORE VIDEOS.
Thank you for posting. I am just beginning to learn about making the Shabbos meal. Do you cut up the vegetables in the chicken soup after it is fully cooked?
It’s so beautiful to see a family together helping, thank you for the recipes ❤️
You are very welcome!
Would like to see how you finished the chicken soup. Love your presentation. Also would like to see how the egg dish is eaten.
I love the video because I love cooking and Ilike learning how to cook new things.
Love this idea! Kosher, fun and easy. Thanks for this!
I loved your recipes can't wait to try each one of them...Thank you
I adore you. Your charm and grace amaze and humble me. Thank you for letting me in on your cooking. I loved ever second of it.
30 min. It can’t be done...my first thought. I spent all Friday prepping Shabbos dinner. Always fun and makes me smile to bring joy to people who enjoy it.
I may be 2 years late to the party, but I really enjoyed this video!! I am learning so much. Thank you!!!
