I had to go 420 miles north here in California to find a Scat pack Challenger Swinger edition under MSRP (with 2,000 dealer discounts ). All the dealerships in Los Angeles were asking 10,000 to 25,000 $ over MSRP so I bought a 300$ plane ticket and flew up north bought my car and drove home .

This guy is absolutely right I'm about to do the same thing. Ford and Dodge dealers in California have been a nightmare to deal with in 2024. Dealer incentives are out of control. The financing departments are living in fantasy land.
The reality is the car market is not doing good in 2024, the building is on fire and nothing is selling but Ford and Dodge dealers are raising MSRP prices and absolutely flat out refusing to drop $1 off MSRP stating the cars are priced to sell so I just keep walking away.

      The problem is NOT Dodge.
The problem is it’s PARENT COMPANY, STELLANTIS.
They have NO CONCEPT of What AMERICAN CARS are…or what American CUSTOMERS want. That’s the reason why their attempts to sell their ALFA and FIAT Brands in this country have FAILED MISERABLY. And their attempts to reinvent DODGE and Chrysler cars have failed too. Americans do NOT want underpowered, high-maintenance cars…and taking the “DODGE” name off of the TRUCKS (after their being called “DODGE TRUCKS” for 100 plus years) wasn’t necessarily a high IQ decision EITHER.

This was one of those "Chrysler representitive special sales team" guys. I think the problem goes further than the dealers, I think it goes all the way up.

Don’t forget they did the same thing when the PT Cruiser came out. I wanted to buy one for a cheap daily driver. But they had the insane markup which no longer made it an economical car. I walked away.
For certain cars, they should be per customer order only. So they are only shipped to the dealer that has a paying customer for the car. Plus allow the customer to order online at MSRP and keep the salesman out of the loop.

    • @DesertStateNevada
      @DesertStateNevada Месяц назад +1

Yes, because American cars are artificially kept from selling in europe, with nonsense protectionist taxes and policies. The best example for this is the Charger and 300, and the fact that Europe has nothing that competes with these cars. If the Dodge Charger and Chrysler 300 were officially imported to europe, and sold for a fair price, they would absolutely wreck the sales of the C63 amg and E63 amg. Europe has nothing. A 4 door V8 sedan for around $40K. The cheapest 4 door V8 sedan in europe is the C63 amg, which starts at $65K, and the one that actually competes with the Charger and 300 in size is the E63 amg, which is even more expensive than the C63.
Europe always had these shady no-spine ways of "competing" with American cars. But since you're from the Netherlands, you at least see for yourself what happens when the playing field is leveled. In your country thanks to a tax advantage people can buy pickup trucks for a normal price, if they register them as part of their business.
This is why 9 out of 10 pickup trucks in the Netherlands are the typical American trucks like the RAM 1500, F150, Silverados, Raptors, Chevy Avalanches, and etc. All that had to be done was level the playing field and look at that, the dutch choose to buy American. The same thing would happen in the 4 door V8 sedan category, and europe can't let that happen.

R.I.P. Dodge I’ll miss them like Pontiac Tim Kuniskis failed Dodge I’m sorry to tell you that it started in 2015. The $10K-$20K MSRP increases are crazy. Then them cutting off the pickup truck and gas commuter cars was the dumbest idea Tim Kuniskis ever did it’s the reason why he can’t sell V8s now. I respect Ford and Chevy because they’re good businessmen. They never turned their backs on the pickup truck and gas commuter car people especially since it makes them the most money. It’s the reason why Ford and Chevy still have credits to still make V8s because they never turned their backs on the people who don’t care about performance and continued to make gas saving commuter sedans and crossovers and medium size pickup trucks. There is no reason why in Dodge has no smaller gas saver cars, crossovers and medium size pickup trucks in their lineup it’s unacceptable. You’re supposed to be growing the Dodge brand not taking it backwards to the 90s and early 2000s all over again when you went bankrupt and your buddies at Mercedes Benz had to save you haven’t you learned nothing Dodge even Mercedes has multiple gas commuter cars in their lineup along with performance cars!!!!

The shenanigans that were pulled in the service department and the sales department. it’s a wonder anybody wants to deal with them. Had a Dodge dealer I had a little lady come to buy a car so they put her in this little dart. Gave her $200 and trade for her 1956 Teebird with 65,000 miles that lived in her garage. it was her husband’s car, his pride and joy. He screwed her out of it and then the manager took it home. Stellantis is the problem. They are rushing to many products like the Jeep. They don't know their target market. They need to focus on fewer products. They need to produce products that consumers want and at the same time quality. In the case of Dodge start with the gas cars. Offer at least one V8 for the Charger. In the case for the Hornet the size is too small. Should at least be the size of the Equinox. The base price needs to come down

I so agree. I've been driving Dodge cars since the 60s. Even had a 69 Daytona and two hemi 70 chargers. What I'm seeing What these low bag dealers makes me sick. I question myself if I would buy another Dodge again. I own 5 cars now.

Judging by my experiences here in NJ with several CDJR dealerships I really don't think it's going to get better anytime soon. They really don't think they have to change anything and that's why they're lots are overflowing with product. The ill will they have created over the last couple of years is starting to finally show up in their sales report. I really think it will take most of them going belly up for anything to change.

Just like with the 23 last calls, those of us who wanted one already have one and now the cars are just sitting there. When the EVs come there will be an initial wave of buyers paying markups and then the inventory will just sit there again. Dodges fate is in real trouble. Once the brotherhood knows an EV scat pack tops out at 137 mph good luck.

I'll be buying used Dodge cars until the dealers get under control. Deals can be had on the used market far more often than new. Plus you don't feel like you getting as screwed over. I really hope Dodge gets the message we are sending or this new Era could be their last in the performance car market.

It's very sad thinking of the dodge demon 170, markups of 150k~200k on them. It's supposed to be a last goodbye and an hommage to the brand but unstead whenever someones talks about that car it's about how dealers are scamming people and it's ridiculousness surrounding it rather than how awesome it is. What a disaster

What dodge needs to do is allow us to order direct for MSRP and have it delivered to the dealer of your choice. That dealership would then get to close the deal and get the profit over invoice and the financing. If the deal drops through then the dealership gets the car and they can charge what they want. That will stop this straw buying and markup crap!

All Tim needs to do is look at the Ford Maverick. When they came out a little over 2 years ago, I went and looked a stripped base XL model with an MSRP of~$22K w/a TWELVE THOUSAND DOLLAR mark up, (~$34K). Yeah, GFY. Fast forward to 3 weeks ago. Production is now nearly matching demand. Found a new, '23, loaded Lariat for just a few bucks more; a coupla bucks UNDER MSRP. Sooner or later, lot rot will catch up with the crooks. At least attempt to keep up with demand and the market will take care of itself.

Stellantis /Dodge dealerships are the worst! I just bought a new BMW four series and a new “last call“ challenger. BMW dealership was amazing! Top-notch! I live in Omaha Nebraska. The Dodge dealership I dealt with was absolutely terrible. All of their shenanigans trying to sell me this and thatwas ridiculous. In the end, I shot them down on every single thing they tried to sell me. The finance manager was pretty good at his job, but I shut him down on every single thing he tried to sell me. I bought my car with zero add-ons. Trust me it’s not easy to do this if you are a weak minded person. Horrible sales people at the Dodge dealership I dealt with. Snakes.

I think these will flop pretty bad and sit on lots. The EV versions weigh nearly 6k lbs, and that vacuum sound is trash. Dodge fully committed to it’s “boat” identity. Even the twin turbo inline 6 Charger is 4 inches wider and 8 inches longer than the previous version. Add in awd and these ICE versions will be too heavy as well. I heard max speed of 137 mph on the new EV Scatpack, which is 🤮 if true.

I'd like to say it'll change, but I doubt it...id like to consider Dodge/Ram again, but still too many people buying these overpriced vehicles, so they have no incentive to go back to pre-covid prices. For context, browsing a Ram forum and a guy was so excited about the "deal" he got on a truck; sale price was 60K; for a Big Horn. Before all the price gouging, I walked out the door with mine for half that and more equipment.
