I love this bottle so much that I decided to look up reviews on YT which I don’t typically do. Your review is the only one of about a dozen that gives this pour the credit it deserves. On one hand, I’m a bit surprised that there is no hype around this bottle, on the other hand, I’m greatful I can still find it on the shelves. Cheers.
Thank you very much for the review - purchasing this for a whiskey friend's 50th birthday - I am sure he will love it! And currently about $135 locally in WNY!
I picked up a bottle last week in Maryland for $147. I probably would not have done it except for the Bourbon Junkies highly recommended it and now you confirmed it. I usually don't spend that much on a bottle, but it was well worth it. I'm glad I pulled the trigger when I did because they are hard to find.
Agreed. My favorite and regular whiskey tubers. BJ, ADHD, IBN and Of course Mash and drum. They’re all good in their own respect but this Cal16 really is a level up on the 15.
I have picked up 2 bottles of the 14 year at $104.00 each. I recently bought a bottle of the 15 year for $122.00. That was a Birthday present to myself and for me is a lot to pay for a bottle of Bourbon. That same store has several bottles of the 16 year for $140.00. I have been on the fence as far as buying one. I may have just fallen off the fence on the buy side. Thanks for your review. I always trust your judgment.
@@dronepocket325 The store I am buying them at sells everything for MSRP or slightly less. They have a lot of the Calument 14, 15 and 16. I just bought a bottle of the 16. They are the last store in the area that does not price gouge on bourbons. At the end of the year they have a free raffle and sell everything at MSRP including all allocated Buffalo Trace items. They usually have about 50 winners of hard to get bourbons.
Picked up a bottle of the 16 year a few weeks ago to take to a family wedding and everyone loved it and thought it was a great bourbon. Was going to take the 15 year I already had but saw everyone on Whaiskey Tube gushing over the 16 year - glad I took the 16. Now to get another bottle so I can enjoy it again. Cheers!
Looking for it, walked into the ABC store and they only had the 15, bought one anyway to add to the one I already have. Just have to keep looking, great review! Thank you.
Outstanding review as always. I was anxiously awaiting this review because I put this bottle in my top 5 for the year so far. I love how Calumet has gotten better with each expression, and I truly hope they do a 17 next years. Slainte!
Excellent review Jason! I just saw this for 130 something and texted Dustin and he stated that it was a buy, buy, buy :) I'm not regretting the purchase so far. It definitely has a cherry note that is more pleasant but balanced with more richness and oak and not as medicinal cherry as the 15 was. Cheers buddy!
Your review pushed me over the fence. I just picked up a bottle for 131.00 using some Total wine discount coupons. I had just bought a bottle of the Calumet small batch 15 yr old and 8 yr old blended barrels and am looking forward to comparing the 2.
Picked up a bottle on your recommendation when I saw it at my local store today. Definitely a hitter, and a fair price point when taking into consideration how crazy the bourbon market has gotten. Love your videos
Have never heard of Calumet Farms until today. Visiting the Local Costco today, has the 15 for $105. I then see your video, watching in the local grocery store parking lot, go in and they have the 16 on sale for $126! Great review Jason and looks like I need to score that last bottle of 16 😄! Cheers!🥃
Got this a few weeks ago and put it up against the Calumet 15, the Fable and Folly, and Lucky Seven 14 yr Prop. The Lucky 7 and Cal 16 came out head and shoulders ahead. The difference between the two was the proof point (my Lucky 7 was about 120 vs the 106). Don’t remember if you did the Lucky 7 Prop, but it’s strong as well.
I just picked up a 15 year for $95. One of the tastier (if not tastiest) bourbons I have tried. Will need to compare to the 16 if I come across one. Based on your comparison you did with the Sam Houston 15, the Calumet Farms was better than I thought it would be. Great review, once again.
Fedex just delivered mine, cracked it and wow, yea, no regrets on this purchase, sure glad I pulled the trigger on this one, this one is treat all the way through, as always, thanks for your insights,
I found one on the shelf and paid $160 for it. Great juice and I'm happy with the purchase. After seeing the reviews on this I'm surprised to find it at all.
The reviews of this bottle made me seek one out. I found one today for $137 and it's going into storage for a special day for my son, be it graduation or wedding.
Great bottle I said nearly the same thing in my review this week. It’s good and beat out Sam Houston 15 for me. I heard rumor they are not doing a Sam Houston this year have you heard anything about that?
Jason I luckily have the exact same batch as you, Rack No. W 4006.09, but I was wondering if you think the different 19 Barrel Batches may vary as far as taste like Single Barrel releases like Michter's 10?
Great review, Jason. I finally opened my bottle of this last night and had a dram. This stuff is really delicious. But the finish on mine was really interesting and not like anything you describe. It's like I told my wife, it's incredibly tasty with a myriad of flavors but they are all sitting on top of a base of OLD musty leather. Makes me think of dark corners in pirate ships of old! Or maybe ancient leather-bound volumes in some dark dusty library (maybe at Hogwarts, he he he). Anyway, I checked my bottle to see if our rack numbers match and mine is actually 40007.9 where yours is 40006.9. Not sure that would matter. It might just be our different pallets. Anyway, I like it a lot but I'm going to have to be in the mood for ancient leather!
Great review man and agree 100% with your breakdown! I loaded my top 5 video last week and this was in it. Fantastic bourbon that reminded me a bit of a great McKenna 10 crossed with a great 15-16yr Knob Creek store pick.
You scared me with the spice, I know you like them spicy. Finally picked one up and it was well balanced and even though it did have spice it had some sweet to balance it out. I like it wasn't all wood. Good pour.
I paid $145 for a bottle, which is 1 of 3 times I have paid above $65. The other 2 are KC12 and KC15. Typically I try to stay below $50, but I tend to not care too much about KC, because it is all good. The Calumet 16, while $50 more than I have ever paid for any bottle, is well worth it. If I can find another bottle for under $150, I will buy it. At some point, my best friends son is going to get married, I am going to bring a bottle of this to share with them.
This will be the next McKenna 10 year. I think the hype on this will drive the price up until they are all off the shelf. I just picked up my 2 bottles for 134 each.
Cheers Jason. Glad you are well and still rockin'. IIRC some of the 1792 variations (Barton) like Full Proof and Single Barrel could lean towards that medicinal cherry 🍒 cough syrup...

Great video! This or Russell's 13? Russell's 13 is impossible to find in Michigan, so I was wondering if Calumet 16 is better. I prefer the dark side of the bourbon. Oak, dark fruits like cherry, caramel, chocolate, etc. Thanks!
I got a bottle about 2 weeks ago and really been enjoying it. Good job reviewing this as usual..gotta admit though i am a little confused thought i heard you mention your a ...Atlanta Falcons fan ? Why ? Why is anyone who doesn't live in Atlanta a fan . Dam bro that's a tough team to follow not much of a history of success in that franchise. Good luck this season you will definitely need it looking at the current roster it's gonna be a long season.
I know I know. Growing up my family wasnt into football too much so when I started watching my favorite player was Deion Sanders. Ever since then Ive been a fan. Through ALL the ups and the very very downs. lol
I started on the rocks in the beginning. After that I started just adding a few drops of water to lessen the burn a bit and open up the whiskey...which is something you can still do....and over time added less water until I got acclimated to neat.
Yeah the 16 is winner winner. It’s one of those bottles that when you’re at work thinking about being home and pouring you a glass of bourbon and take that sip, that taste you image is this.
You mentioned Four Gate Batch 4 as being one of the top releases this year. I think you meant Batch 17, the split-stave brrye? Batch 4 came out a couple years ago. For 14 year and 15 year, Sam Houston was notably better.

Thanks for a great review. Delivered Calumet today. I’ll be spend the evening romancing this delicious bourbon!
Good review. I need to get that Caldera Lab product now, as well as the Calumet 16.

Just picked up a bottle at my local store for $119 and can't wait to give it a try.
Where for 119?
This bourbon is delicious and one of my favorite releases this year. I bought a second bottle the day after i tasted it. It is so good.
When i first tried this bottle i had heavy black cherry flavors, as it opened up it tastes like a redvine to me! Excellent pour

I just bought a second bottle. This is a great value. So good. It’s rare to get 100 proofers this flavorful.
Just bought another bottle just to drink because Costco had it for $128 and change. I love your "crushable" call. It is just a great sip. Well done!
Picked 1 up for $125 with a $5 discount. They got more in stock so I picked up a second one for $130. In IL east of St Louis.
got mine for $126. waiting for it to ship, but looking forward to getting it. Great review!
We blinded 15 and 16 as well. 16 Blew it away!
