I think the Calumet 16 is delicious and brilliantly marketed. I'm speculating that my two unopened bottles celebrating a record breaking thoroughbred will be worth more on a collectors shelf in ten years than a bottle featuring an old man toking a cigar..

Hey Judge. I like your approach of opening a bottle a week before the review. I’ve found a lot of taste change from first pours to weeks later yet I see a lot of whiskey tubers crack open a new bottle live and test it. Good tip!

Well you havent let me down with your recommendations yet so I'll prpbably have to grab one of these. My only question is how strong is the cherry on this one? I've noticed it was very strong on some of the past sam houstons and calumet and it wasn't my favorite..

The CF15 retails for $89 at Total Wine San Diego. Needless to say I purchased a case 😂😂. I’m anxiously awaiting for them to drop the CF16. The aged CF series far outshines Sam Houston on price point alone. Stock up before the cat is out of the bag. Cheers friend.

Agree with you judge this is fantastic. As you pointed out it gets overlooked a bit because it doesn't have the same name recognition as buffalo trace or other high profile brands. if this was in a buffalo trace bottle people would pay $300.00 + a bottle and be lining up to get it .

I have the 15 and the 16. I am feeling uncomfortable pressure to buy a backup of the 16. I'd love to get the 14 but there are so many other things to get. I've been a big fan of the Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Barrel Strength and my favorite retailer just keeps 'em coming.
I think they are in order of my preference, 14, then 15, then 16. Go with the JDSBBP. Change it up. The 14 is good but not as good as the recent 15-16. Cheers

I've eyed the 16 and the 14yr last weekend. Going to have to pull the trigger after this review. You pick. Thinking about both??? $$ is the hmmm. Again you pick.
14 is dryer and oakier. 16 is very much more balanced. 15 is great but more of a cherry bomb than both the 14 and 16.

I recently bought a bottle of Sam Houston 15 year (Colorado Version), and was underwhelmed by the cost/taste ratio. I'm wondering if my body chemistry just doesn't mesh with +10 year bourbons, but I will give Calumet 16 a shot before I throw in the towel on pricey, old bourbon.
Yeah try it at a bar first just to be safe.
