  • Hello, here is a list of books that I think would be perfect to read during the spooky Fall season, especially in October. These are some of my favorite thrillers and horrors and even some sci-fis ever. And some of these books just remind me of Fall. Also, it's October 3rd, so happy Mean Girls day.

I have recently had a bit of a reading slump ...what with one thing or another but autumn/fall time is when i really get stuck in to my reading......a throw blanket...hot chocolate...all cosy I love it.
Thanks for the awesome recommendations as always Gabby. I adore your channel.

I keep putting off reading Bird Box because of all the hype surrounding the film adaptation (haven't seen that, either), but I may be persuaded to get through it before the end of autumn. My ultimate book to read to get me in the right mood for autumn, however, is Practical Magic. I'm sure that it's well known to you - it is by far not spooky, it's like an urban fantasy romance, and it has witches in it. I am so much more of a cozy autumn person than a spooky autumn person, so that's right up my alley.

One of my favorite Stephen King books is The Mist. It's super creepy, and probably his shortest book! Would be perfect this time of year! The Longest Walk is also great, as is Thinner (pen name Richard Bach), and The Green Mile.

I actually just purchased Vicious on my kindle, a few days ago. Right now, it's on sale for just $2.99. I very much enjoyed the first two books in the Renegades series by Marissa Meyer and have the final chapter pre-ordered, coming out next month. Vicious sounds fantastic and I'm really liking reading about superheroes/villains as opposed to occult books.

I read No Exit a few weeks ago and I loved it! It's probably my favorite thriller I've read in 2019. I also just bought Imaginary Friend. I've read conflicting reviews about it and I'm kind of nervous to start it, but it sounds like something I'll love.

Mindhunter is excellent, but it's more about how the Behavioral Science Unit was created back in the 70s. While there are some specific serial killers - Ed Kemper to start - its more about the agents and how much this job wears on their psyche and personal life. I highly recommend it for a creepy show.

Hmm, what about some oldies that had famous movies made of them? Hell House and Burnt Offerings were both really good. Have you read The Heart Shaped Box by Joe Hill? That was spooky. I just finished an arc of One by One, a family goes to restore an old house when a little girl rips off a bit of wall paper to find a drawing underneath that looks like her family. As family members go missing, the drawing of the person has a mysterious X appear over it. Has creepy big run down house, pool half filled with black goo, woods with a secret locked shed, and a snow storm isolating the family. Was fun.

go watch mindhunter! I truely enjoyed it.
The concept is the same as silence of the lambs, yes, but there is not as much focus on the actual serial killers (which i found disappointing).
But I really liked all the characters!
((AND Anna Torv is in there and I love her and she is so good here and she actually plays a lesbian character and it is too much for my bisexual heart to take😉))
Thanks for all the recs! I love spooky stories!

i recommend reading "for better and worse" by Margot Hunt such a good thiller. recently finished this novel. a little summary of the book: On their first date back in law school, Natalie and Will Clarke bonded over drinks, dinner and whether they could get away with murder. Now married, they’ll put the latter to the test when an unchecked danger in their community places their son in jeopardy. Working as a criminal defense attorney, Nat refuses to rely on the broken legal system to keep her family safe. She knows that if you want justice…you have to get it yourself.
Shocked to discover Nat’s taken matters into her own hands, Will has no choice but to dirty his, also. His family is in way too deep to back down now. He’s just not sure he recognizes the woman he married. Nat’s always been fiercely protective, but never this ruthless or calculating. With the police poking holes in their airtight plan, what will be the first to fall apart: their scandalous secret-or their marriage? www.goodreads.com/book/show/38350063-for-better-and-worse?from_search=true&qid=lhjEkSLKZD&rank=1
at first for me at least it was kind of slow, but once you get into the novel it turns your head into a tragedy that you wouldn't think happened; then it makes you never want to put it down. i really really liked this book.

Ugh Broken Girls was so awful! I felt like I got a bait and switch with the whole ghost thing. The author had 3 really good ideas for 3 different books and she just tossed them all together. A ghost story, a dirty cop story, and a WWII story. The ghost had nothing to do with the plot. At all. I don’t understand why people like it.
