I read 16 books in June and had so many 5 stars (and an unpopular opinion on a romance book)

The way you describe books you read make you my favorite book reviewer.
Aw thank you 🥹🥹🥹💖
LOVE the new way of doing these videos. It is fun seeing them ranked worst to best!
Thank you!!!
The Measure was so imaginative and amazing!! I read it almost a year ago and still think about it. I also absolutely LOVED Convenience Store Woman.
Immediately adding Strange Sally Diamond to my TBR! Great wrap up, Gabby!!! 😍
Ahh yes Marcy, I think you’d love it!! Thank you ❤
I liked this format so much more than chronological
Dude I can’t wait to read the new Riley Sager for your book club and Kayla’s, I’m looking forward to the live shows! 😄❤️📚
I'm currently reading Darling Girls and struggling mentally right now so it's making it hard to read, but gonna keep it pushing since you gave it a good review. It's good so far. My anxiety and depression are just kicking my ass right now.
I’m sorry to hear that, take care of yourself ❤❤❤
Glad you're feeling better - you look great. Thanks for the reviews : )
Hi Gabby ❤🧚♀️ thanks for the video!!
I loved The Measure and Strange Sally Diamond. I thought Home is Where the Bodies Are was just average. It was my least favorite Jeneva Rose book so far. I do like the way you did this video ranking the books from least favorite to most favorite.
For authors I've had hit or miss with, I usually will reserve copies of their newer books at the library. Sounds like my instincts to do that for Katherine Center's and Ashley Poston's latest books will be on the money. Probably won't be available for pick up till next month.. but at least I won't waste money on them.
That’s a great idea!!
I’m glad you are on the mend. That’s no fun being sick!🤗
My entire household got COVID around the same time you and Rachel were super sick. My doc said they’re seeing a lot of flu-like illnesses this spring. So many people I know have been sick for an extended period of time and haven’t quite bounced back yet. It sucks and I’m so sorry you’ve had to deal with that. 💜
I’m sorry to hear y’all were sick too! It’s the worst 😭😭😭 I hope you’re all feeling better now! 💖
covid in wastewater is SUPER high recently so people are getting it and assuming it's a flu/not testing. everyone stay safe regardless of what you are getting!!
Just me watching this directly after getting home from Barnes and Noble to buy A Novel Love Story 🤦🏻♀️
😭😭😭
At least the cover is so cute!!!
You might like it! Unfortunately I'm with Gabbie...I loved her 1st 2 romances but this one didn't hit for me.
@@mymindfullife7554 I think the concept is hard to make fresh unless you do it tongue in cheek.
I DNF’d this, which is saying a lot because like the MC, I am a part time lit professor!
Thanks for some great recommendations and I also loved The Measure.
Darling girls was just okay for me until all the twists and reveals I was SHOCKED
I participated in a readathon and read 40 books in June - a PB! My favorite was Every Time I Go On Vacation Someone Dies.
you are my favorite booktuber; i'm trying to binge watch all your videos!!!!! i love your content especially because mystery/thriller is my favorite genre 🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
Thanks for the video! Needed a mind distraction going through a tough time
❤❤❤
Nothing stings like a book from a favorite author being a bust.
For real 😭😭😭
I was so disappointed and sad by A Novel Love Story. I loved Ashley Poston's books so far but this one was so underwhelming and cringe. It felt like Teen Beach Movie but without the songs and only the cringe 😭
Omg so true haha 😅
I listened to A Novel Love Story on audiobook & DNF’d, & I also gave her first 2 five stars! I may pick up a physical copy but I’m not hopeful
100% agree about A Novel Love Story! Glad to know I'm not the only one!
👏👏👏
So far the haunting of velkwood is the one im wanting to read...i will continue to watch because i GOTTA hear the five stars...OMG THE MEASURE😂😂U SAID IT JUST TICKLES SOMETHING IN MY BRAIN 🤣💪🏽❤️I FEEL YA THOUGH
The Measure didn’t work for me sadly but right now I’m reading Strange Sally Diamond and it’s so addicting!
“This one is a mystery/thriller…’supposedly’.” Oof I felt that
Omg the way I ALWAYS do that! I get halfway or 80% of the way through a book that I’m disliking and it’s convince myself I’m the problem. So I start over from the beginning. Just to end up hating it even more
Omg I got so excited to read a few of these from watching this video
Hahaha I know why do we do that?? Like we need to trust our judgement better haha 😂🤭
Glad to hear you enjoyed Curse of the Reaper! Finished The Haunting of Velkwood this month, and agree it's so conceptually strong!
just read a novel love story in a recent vlog and felt the same way!! the premise seemed so interesting but the execution left a lot to be desired 😭
I love how passionate you get when reviewing books!
I just started reading The Haunting of Velkwood today! I can’t wait to get to The Eyes Are The Best Part!
My favorite book of June was Our Wives Under the Sea
Gabby you went off on a novel love story 😂😂
So sorry haha 😅
❤ The Maid earlier this year. Have the next book in series.
I read 10 books and overall had 2 fives and 2 fours so that’s pretty good! My favourites were Margo’s got money troubles and Darling Girls 💜 and the fours were Polish non-fiction books, one about ADHD and one about Deaf community 🙈 but they were written by Polish authors so sadly I can’t recommend them to non-Polish speakers
I read You Know What You Did for Kayla's book club. Got it from the library and I'm glad for that lol.. I knew from early on what was going on.. slight spoiler:
Predictable because I've noticed that a lot of Mystery/Thrillers make it obvious who is doing the bad things.. it's always the "perfect innocent one".. I could give more book examples but don't want to spoil those in case those haven't been read yet.. but needless to say.. I'm right every time.. 🧐😂
Oh my gosh, I agree completely with your review of the rom-commers! And also I’m now nervous to read a novel love story. I wasn’t a huge fan of the dead romantics but wanted to give her another chance and the premise was really intriguing.
I ended up dnfing The Romcommers. It just wasnt working or me. I just started a book called The Best Life Book Club and it is hitting me right in the heart.
Glad you are feeling better after the flu tried to take you out! I'm so sad for your experience with A Novel Love Story, tbh my biggest fear when starting audiobooks is that the narrators will decrease my enjoyment of a book 😭 I read 6 BOOKS in June which made it my best reading month of the year possibly ever!!!
Can’t wait to discuss listen for the lie because it drove me absolutely insane for so many reason 😂
I HATED Listen for the Lie OMG. Read like a YA debut 🤢
I DNF Listen for the Lie & I’ve questioned myself bc I haven’t heard of anyone not liking it, until now.
Hi Gabby, So glad you are on the mend. Two stars for me as well - Talent for Murder. My gosh it was so repetitive towards end, and end was horrible!!! Thank goodness you rated Darling Girls high as it is on my TBR. The Measure sounds terrifying by oh so good! Thank you so much for your great reviews!
Thank you!! Hope you enjoy Darling Girls!! ❤

I’m pretty sure most of my book recommendations come from your channel lol…I’ve read all but one of your book club picks…favorite was The Reformatory but loved Bright Young Women as well…anyway…my tbr is never ending…but keep em coming! Thanks!
I also enjoyed Home is Where the Bodies Are- you’re a cutie love your videos- feel better soon❤
I had this flu too, but mine lasted 3 weeks! My doc was pulling her hair. I'm better but still feel kind of fragile. I can't wait to start reading these books again.
Glad you loved Strange Sally Diamond. It was one of my favorite books of last year. More people need to be talking about it.
As for June, I read 21 books and had a 5 star in Orange. It was so up my alley and I cried. Suwa was the best. I also gave 4 stars to The Last Cuentista which was a middle grade book that gave me anxiety reading it. I also had a surprise 4 star in The Marriage Portrait since it was outside my wheelhouse (historical).
I loved Home is Where the Bodies Are!! It really surprised me too and I’m so glad you enjoyed it too :)
I’m so glad you loved Darling Girls!! Thanks so much for joining my book club :)
Strange Sally Diamond is SOO GOOD
OMG I love this video. I'm glad I watched it. I just got A Talent for Murder from BOTM now I know to read the others first. I did not know it was part of a series. My bad!
Great wrap up 📚🥤
I read 16 books in June too, great variety! Hard to pick a favorite, Murrin's debut (The Coast Road) was great as was Rapp's (Wolf at the Table - yowza!). Also really liked Jackpot Summer by Friedland, The Switch by Samson, The Girl in the Vault by Ledwidge and Summer Fridays by Rindell. I DNFed "Margo" (bummer), and also loved The Good Parts and The Measure.
I loved a talent for murder. I listened to it on audio. 🤷♀️
I’m glad you liked it!
Omg I love you’re enthusiasm and energy 🎉
I’m so happy for you, it’s why we read isn’t it 😊 that 5 star book is worth it all 😂
9 books 4 stars and above! 🙌
Oh girl you gotta read Earthlings if you want Convenience Store Woman but unhinged. Fair warning, it's pretty dark and gets verrry weird but it's one of my favorite books. I was thinking about it for days after finishing it.
Strange Sally Diamond 🥰 The Measure 🥰 Gabby, have you read All the Colors of the Dark by Chris Whitaker? Currently reading it and can't put it down. We Begin At the End by this author is one of the best books I've read in years. This month's favorites were Sally Diamond, Daughter of Mine, All the Broken Places (5 stars) and Southern Man by Greg Iles. At 970 pages, it's an undertaking and it's slooooooow but it's Greg Iles, LOL.
Yay for good reading months! I’ve had a very mid reading year and finally had three 5-star books this month. I need to read Strange Sally Diamond, so excited to hear there’s good asexual rep in it! 💜
I’m glad you had a great reading month too Casey!! And ahhh yes I think you’d love Strange Sally Diamond!!
What were your three 5 ⭐ books??
You’re not alone in your feelings on the Rom-Commers. I rolled my eyes so often during that book.
Do you ever break down how many of the books you read were audio/physical?
I really enjoyed Annie Bot, Listen for the lie, and have you read Whalefall by Daniel Kaus ooh I bet you will love it. it's an interesting concept, and it's a well-done story. ❤
I haven’t read Whalefall yet! I also loved Annie Bot!! 😍
I'm 100 pages into A Novel Love Story (pairing with the audiobook as well) and I could NOT agree more, part of the problem I think IS the narrator (she's making the character read very immature and whiny IMO) but....Anders is just not very swoon-worthy yet either. And I just don't really care what happens to our protagonist yet. Sooo I'm concerned lol.
Ahhhh yeah the audio narration is not great 😢😢😢 and I didn’t care for Anders or any of the characters at all ughhh
I don't even like the smell of black tea 😂
Darling Girls is one I want to read asap
I need you to read counterfiet by Kristin Chen and the September House!
PLEASE can you read the new book We Used to Live Here? I just finished it and I need to see more peoples thoughts on it! I’m excited to see what people think. I thought it was amazing!
A Novel Love Story was SO DISAPPOINTING. I can no longer accept the word minty as a word
lol omg right?? I'm 160 pgs in and I already can't with that word!
Strange Sally Diamond is one of the best books I’ve ever read
Have you read The Invocations by Krystal Sutherland? I just got it. Have you read Stiff by Mary Roach? I Love that book!! I also just got The Family Plot by Megan Collins, The Haunting of Brynn Wilder, Daughters of the Lake by Wendy Webb. Have you read those?
Nooooo I never buy books new (I’m a library gal) but I purchased A Novel Love Story a few days ago 😅😅😅😅😅
Darling Girls sounds like I would love itttt
oye !! I've got the Ashley Poston all queued up - good thing it's Libby audio loan. I just listened to the sample- hmm. I did buy the paperback since I pre ordered it. I'm getting it signed by author Ashley Poston next month. ** btw, I might have told you already, I saw her last year & told her that you loved her 1st two books. ! * So did I. ** oh, what was the unpopular opinion? Was it this one? Don't ever worry about that. Even being a vlogger. *** If I don't like this, I'll dnf. thanks for the heads up.
so interesting about ANLS… i’ve been seeing a lot of the same feedback online. interesting how you mention how repetitive it is. i found dead romantics unbearable, unnecessary descriptions and also so repetitive. TSYS was 5 stars for me, DR was 1 star. i’ll be renting ANLS from the library - i’ll pass on buying it
Hop you feeling ok 📕📕
I haven’t read it but I’m gonna pretend that Ashely Poston review doesn’t exist 😂😂
Haha that’s fair 😂🤭
Me too bc I just brought it 😂
I just could not get into The Haunting of Velkwood…I dnf 😥
💜💜
I am so sad you didn’t like A Novel Love Story I gave it 5 stars
I DNF'd The novel love story audiobook about 30 minutes in. Could not stand the narrator. Was going to give it a go physically, but idk now 😅
I love books & you!! I just can’t follow your speed talking!!!😳
You can slow down the speed of the video if I talk too fast 😃
