    Oooo I had no idea A Talent for Murder is a sequel to A Kind Worth Killing, it changed title style without warning, was expecting “A Kind Worth …” ya know?

      And now I’m terrified to read it, 2 stars??

    • @gabbyreads
      @gabbyreads  7 месяцев назад +3

      I know why would the title be more similar?? They didn’t make it obvious at all that it’s part of the same series, almost like they were trying to promote it as if it wasn’t??? 🫠🫠🫠 I hope you have better luck with it if you read it!

    I’ve learned not to get attached to thriller authors because the genre can be so unpredictable. I just try to read the hot thrillers for that year, but I try not to look at any of them as faves. I have some that I get more excited about than others…but they all are subject to write a thriller you don’t like. The only author so far that I kind of see as a fave (even with disappointments) is Riley Sager. For some reason, even if I don’t like the book, I still seem to not be crushed & have a good time. I think with thrillers you have just have to see the books individually. 🥰🥰🥰

    So I am prepared for summer ween. I have put a lot of thought into my 5 picks. This will be my first time participating in summer ween and I chose to because I love to read and Halloween is my favorite holiday hands down! I have bought my summer ween shirt, I will be drinking pumpkin spice coffee out of my Halloween mug daily with instrumental Halloween music in background. I also created a Summerween journal page and I will be rating each book by how many ghosts it gets instead of stars. I'm hoping all are 5 ghosts reads.

    I remember reading the line where the guy tells Lily, “ She was fire”….. I thought I had misread it….did he say she was fine? Nope, the word he used was fire and that didn’t make much sense in context of his recent dialogue. This author is gonna have to work a miracle to write on the level of The Kind Worth Killing. Really loved that book…..come on, Peter we know you can do it!

    Home is where the bodies are - An average read. I guessed the culprit pretty early on in the story. Even though our sympathy would go out to Beth, for her strength in spite of what she is constantly put up against, the only POV I really cared about was the mother Laura's. The book was quite atmospheric but it was also too bleak for me. But I hear from many other reviewers too that this is the author's best by far. It's a quick and easy read and that's a plus.

    I think Peter Swanson is a talented writer with good ideas, but I think him trying to relate to the Gen Z reader will be his undoing. He should just focus on the Xennials, Gen X, and Boomers that loved his earlier books and be content with that.
    For me, I haven't liked a book of his ever since Nine Lives though I did hear promising things about his Christmas novella so I might check that out when the Christmas season comes around again.
