SCREAMING because my recommendation - The Measure - was featured and taken by THE Gabbyreads!? AND you loved it!?!?!? I’m so happy you did, you absolutely made my day 😭💜
I'm so happy you enjoyed The Measure! That's a book that me and my coworkers still have discussions about to this day. Was also surprised to see Convenience Store Woman in the vlog because that is one of my favs as well! Great video!! Definitely voting for a round 2 video😊
definitely a round 2!!! also video idea: reread some of ur old 5 star books and see if you still like them, years later and see how much your taste has changed!
Omg!!! So excited that my comment got selected lol. I’m also so glad to see that you also enjoyed The Good Part! And I agree; shout-out to libraries! I had actually never heard of the book myself either, but happened to see it at my library and took a chance on it.
I’m really interested to read The Measure now! That quote at the beginning is from a wonderful poet, Mary Oliver. If you ever get a an itch to read poetry, she is a good one to try!
I loved convenience store woman! That author also has a short story collection called Life Ceremony that I really liked - it was super weird and interesting. I was also pleasantly surprised when I read The Good Part, I had read other books from sophie cousens and found them to be alright, but this new one was super funny and entertaining
You received so many good recs! I read The Measure in January, & and it is still my fave read of the year. 🎉 The Good Part was a 5⭐️ and The Haunting of Velkwood was a 4.5⭐️ for me! I have Strange Sally Diamond on my tbr , & plan on reading it soon!
I HIGHLY recommend Earthlings by Sayaka Murata as well. It is basically a horror version of the same story/message but with a main character that hasn't found a way to adapt to society, which is where the horror comes in
I had very similar thoughts as you in regards to The Watchers. I definitely want to check out the film, because I agree that it would be better suited as a movie
Watching you read The Watchers and thinking "Isn't this a new movie?" Then you mentioned the movie. It sounds very Shayamalan, even though the book was not written by a member of the family.
Oh my gosh i've had The Immoralists on my owned tbr for years and this is the first time I've heard it talked about! I've seen the cover for The Good Part but didn't know what it was about until this video, now I'll be checking it out!!!
Oooh I’m glad you enjoyed Convenience Store Woman! I also really liked that one, but I hesitate to recommend it based on what people’s perspectives are on an unconventional, less ambitious career path.
Gabby! I KNEW when I saw the measure in your thumbnail you were going to love it!!!! It was my favorite book of 2022 and I said super similar things about it, including that if I were to write a book I would want it to be like that one 🤩🤩🤩
I was excited to read The Watchers based on the premise and the fact that M. Night Shymalan's daughter was directing the movie. I found the book hard to understand. Maybe it's just me. I wonder if the movie is better.
For me it wasn't but haven't read the book. I do think they explain things pretty well or some things are just not explained, which feels fine with this kind of story for me too
Gabby what's your favorite way to read. I've watched you read paper, listen to audio, digital (now and again) and read and listen simultaneously. Do you have a favourite?
I got so excited when I saw my username on your thumbnail! Thank you for reading my recommendation! Ahhh so happy you enjoyed Convenience Store Woman 😊 loved this vlog, definitely would like to watch a part 2!!!
Had the same exact weather over in the UK, very rainy June. Velkwood sounds very interesting. I wanna watch the watchers movie but didn't think it sounded as good in book form, will definitely stick to just the movie
Love the reading vlogs as usual, and I need to know what that large square pillow you put on your bed after you read the Measure. That looked so comfy!
I almost forgot I had sent you the Watchers suggestion. Feeling a bit guilty that you didn't like it. I liked it because it was slow burn and atmospheric.
I just read Baby X, which I think you’d like. It reminded me of The One by John Marrs. It’s near future and sperm or eggs can be created with DNA cells. So now people have kids using crafted DNA and celebrity dna is stolen, etc. Not a 5 star for me but is thought provoking like The Measure or The One.
The Measure was my favorite book of last year!! I’m surrounded by non-readers and I just wanted to grab people off the street to talk about this book!!! Then I realized that’s creepy and I don’t really like people. But I love this book!!!!
the measure was SUCH an AMAZING premise... but then I just didnt love a lot of the characters we were following, especially the obnoxious political storyline that felt like the main one. I really want a book 2, where we follow different people! lol
This books sounds similar to The Summerhouse by Jude Deveroux (2001) about three friends who go back to any timeline in their lives and also can choose to remember their old lives, change their old lives, or come back and not remember their old lives was very good. Ps - always enjoy your videos❤
I saw The Watchers in the cinema yesterday. Seems very similar to the book as in good movie, but execution was not the best. Think I will just skip the book
I read convenience store woman and liked it. I felt bad for her since her "friends" kept trying to make her into something she didn't want to be. They didn't get her. Your dinners in vlogs always make me hungry. That kimchi rice and dumplings looked good; I'll have to find it at Trader Joes.
I think you and Kayla should read the same books for a week and see how much you agree on them cause y’all seem to have such similar opinions!!
I would like that too!
agreed!
SCREAMING because my recommendation - The Measure - was featured and taken by THE Gabbyreads!? AND you loved it!?!?!? I’m so happy you did, you absolutely made my day 😭💜
Thanks so much for the recommendation 🥹🥰💖
The Measure is absolutely 5 stars. My hubby and I discussed this book so much.
The Measure didn't grab me at first, but I ended up loving it! The way the storylines come together was fantastic.
The Measure sounds like such a horrifying concept!!
The haunting of velkwood sounds so good! I have no idea there was a sapphic relationship in it!
Ahhh yes I think you’d love that book!
I'm so happy you enjoyed The Measure! That's a book that me and my coworkers still have discussions about to this day. Was also surprised to see Convenience Store Woman in the vlog because that is one of my favs as well! Great video!! Definitely voting for a round 2 video😊
Ahhh yes it was so good, thank you so much for the recommendation!!! ❤❤❤
definitely a round 2!!! also video idea: reread some of ur old 5 star books and see if you still like them, years later and see how much your taste has changed!
The Measure is one of my favs this year so far! And heck yeah to a part 2!
The way you can read physically on the treadmill is inspirational. Especially without holding on. I need to hold the arms when I walk lol
Omg!!! So excited that my comment got selected lol. I’m also so glad to see that you also enjoyed The Good Part! And I agree; shout-out to libraries! I had actually never heard of the book myself either, but happened to see it at my library and took a chance on it.

Yes to Round 2! I actually just started The Haunting of Velkwood last week! Glad to hear it's going places!
i loveeee the measure! so glad you loved it as well

I second this!!!
I never cry and I cried at the end of The Measure. I couldn't describe The Haunting of Velkwood either. We must be on the same wavelength.
This was so much fun I need 100 more rounds immediately!! ❤
I had very similar thoughts as you in regards to The Watchers. I definitely want to check out the film, because I agree that it would be better suited as a movie
Watching you read The Watchers and thinking "Isn't this a new movie?" Then you mentioned the movie.

Aw sorry to hear The Watchers didn't work for you, it was a 5⭐️ read for me. Will have to add The Measure to my TBR!
Oh my gosh i've had The Immoralists on my owned tbr for years and this is the first time I've heard it talked about! I've seen the cover for The Good Part but didn't know what it was about until this video, now I'll be checking it out!!!
I loved The Measure. I read it last year and I still think about that book a lot!
Please do Round 2! This was fun.
Oooh I’m glad you enjoyed Convenience Store Woman! I also really liked that one, but I hesitate to recommend it based on what people’s perspectives are on an unconventional, less ambitious career path.
Just ordered "The Measure" - big thanks Gabby. 🤩
yeaaaah for round two. really enjoyed this one.
The Measure sounds amazing!
Loved Strange Sally Diamond so much. Came for that review. Hope you liked it. The Measure sounds good.
Gabby! I KNEW when I saw the measure in your thumbnail you were going to love it!!!! It was my favorite book of 2022 and I said super similar things about it, including that if I were to write a book I would want it to be like that one 🤩🤩🤩
Yesss ahhh it’s so good! Love it 😍🤩
Definitely do a round 2!

i bought and now reading The Measure because you loved it!!!!🥰🥰🥰🥰🥰
I like to see a round two of this, enjoyed watching you read people's favorites.
Wow! The measure sounds like some kind of mass formation psychosis . I have to read this!
Gabby what's your favorite way to read. I've watched you read paper, listen to audio, digital (now and again) and read and listen simultaneously. Do you have a favourite?

I loved The Measure!
Love the reading vlogs as usual, and I need to know what that large square pillow you put on your bed after you read the Measure. That looked so comfy!
I need to bump up „The Measure“ on my reading list. Purchased it a few weeks ago 🙈
Would you read the sequel to The Watchers? I loved the movie and want to read the book, but I just saw the sequel comes out in the fall of this year.
Oh a sequel? Did not know that. Don't know how to feel about it
I would love to see a round 2!!
Round 2!!!!!
I loved The Good Part so I was happy to see it in this video.❤
The measure sounds so good 👀
I almost forgot I had sent you the Watchers suggestion. Feeling a bit guilty that you didn't like it. I liked it because it was slow burn and atmospheric.
No worries I appreciate the recommendation! I would’ve read it in my own anyway 🥰
Ohhh I loved the Immortalists!
I’ve never clicked a video so fast 😂😂
Thanks Sheyanne 🥹🫶🏻
Can’t wait for your June wrap-up so I see what your thoughts are on Strange Sally Diamond!
Omg Gabby, you should try Earthlings from Sayaka Murata, such a weird messed up book (talk about unhinged endings)
The Measure was my favorite book of last year!! I’m surrounded by non-readers and I just wanted to grab people off the street to talk about this book!!! Then I realized that’s creepy and I don’t really like people. But I love this book!!!!

The watchers sound familiar to the show From
Voting for round 2😁
What a great video idea!🎉😊
The measure seems intriguing. Added to, an already too long for a lifetime, tbr 😂
I saw The Watchers in the cinema yesterday. Seems very similar to the book as in good movie, but execution was not the best. Think I will just skip the book
Since you loved The Measure- you should watch Gattaca (If you haven't already). It stars Uma Thurman, Jude Law and Ethan Hawke.
What did you think of strange Sally diamond? It was totally 5 star energy for me, and the ending had me give it 3 stars over all
Cop Town by Karin Slaughter is fantastic.
So funny u read the watchers bc I legit finished this yesterday
The Good Part reminds me of the film 13 going on 30 😅
I read convenience store woman and liked it. I felt bad for her since her "friends" kept trying to make her into something she didn't want to be. They didn't get her. Your dinners in vlogs always make me hungry. That kimchi rice and dumplings looked good; I'll have to find it at Trader Joes.
If you want more unhinged try murata sayaka's 2nd book earthlings. it goes crazy 😅
Love it🤗
Also, anything by Linwood Barclay
I was so interested in The Measure but then you compared it to The Immortalists, which is my most hated book ever, and I was like, nevermind 😭.
What if you stress tf out, finally decide to open your box and theres no string in it!? 😱
Round two please
the vigilantes now have a movie, i think
💖💖💖
The measure remained me of “they both die in the end” that book was also a 5 star
Wait. I'm stopping the video at 4:15. I don't think you'll like Convience Store Woman.
I didn't like Watchers either
Hv u read call me by your name
If not then consider this a recommendation
🥰🥰🥰
I felt the same about the Watchers. It felt like an eternity. I ended up doing 3x speed at times to get through it.
Did you read the Quran? It is the best book in the world, read by nearly 4 billion people
velkwood. ugh! fine! ill read it! lol... you keep comparing it to my favorite things! lol!!!
Round 2 please
