    I was on various SSRI's a few years ago, and the side effects were so bad, I battled through depression without them...it sucked. Recently, I've been bombarded by so many things that I sought counseling and was prescribed Wellbutrin. I have to say, it has made a PROFOUND difference. I'm not as on edge, my emotions aren't up and down all the time and things that would ramp me up in frustration or anger I no longer allow them to consume me. After a battle of emotions, with relationships, with life in general...I've finally...for the first time in two years, have peace of mind. I don't plan on being on this all the time, but it is helping me get through a tough time, and I haven't experienced any side effects.

      Me too Blake, Celexa gave me terrible E.D. (talk about getting more depressed...ha) This is a wonderful anti-depressant. I have read/watched stories about the bad effects of Wellbutrin, but I haven't experienced any of them. I believe everyone will have to find the right one that will work. Anyway, hope you are doing well.

    I just want to weigh-in (haha) on the topic of Wellbutrin causing less weight gain than SNRI's. I was prescribed Effexor XR 150mg 4 years ago. Within 5 months of taking that medication I went from 120lbs to 155lbs. My diet and physical activity stayed the same. Last year I was switched from Effexor XR 150mg to Wellbutrin (generic) 150mg. I lost all 35lbs I gained on the Effexor within a few months. My weight NEVER fluctuates more than 1-2lbs and it has stayed this way since starting Wellbutrin. There seems to be a significant deficit of non-serotonergic medications for depression. Other than bupropion, mirtazapine and a few others, you're stuck taking something that inhibits the reuptake of serotonin. For patients with prominent anhedonia, SSRIs don't often do a whole lot.

    Well, in my case (moderate-severe depression) Wellbutrin was extremely effective. While I not only suffered severely from the painful symptoms of depression, but was also unable to work and was at risk of having my cognitive abilities permanently impaired, my condition improved greatly just a few days after starting Wellbutrin (150mg XR). Specifically, I had no negative changes in thinking and perceptions, or negative changes in my personality. I felt a certain euphoric effect (thought that's what cocaine must feel like) but otherwise not like being on drugs. I also noticed that I seem to have suffered from mild social anxiety all my life, which I only became aware of when the drug made it go away. Also, I only had certain side effects (itchy skin, and the feeling of a slightly altered self-perception) for the first week, during the changeover process, which then went away. Now, after several months of taking the drug, I have slowly stopped taking it. At the moment I am still a bit more tired than before, which is logical because the drug had a stimulating effect, but I no longer experience any symptoms of depression. I can only report positive things about the drug, it has served its purpose without side effects. The biggest drawback seems to me that there is no 75mg XR dosage, which on the one hand would facilitate tapering (the tablets should not be split), and after the decline of acute depression would be a perfectly adequate dose for maintenance therapy to prevent relapse over a period of time.

    I was taking Adderall for 10 years for my ADD, and overall it worked great....however I just recently came off to worsening side effects---horrible social anxiety, sweating, and irritability. Adderall was feeling way too intense and too much like speed or meth (I've never done meth; it just felt too much like a drug and harsh on my body) and it felt like my body was vibrating internally a lot, etc. Other side effects included feeling artificially awake all the time and a lot of irritability. It was getting pretty rough on my body....
    My doc suggested trying Wellbutrin. I also have depression and anxiety in addition to focus issues. I am worried Wellbutrin will feel all too similar and cause all similar side effects?

      Spacystacy32 i mean, anxiety has most to do diet for sure, so is depression because of the lack of serotonin going from the gut to brain, so everyone should always try to fix their diet and get a vitamin/mineral test and maybe hormone test, for men, if he have low testosterone we will get all kinds of anxiety depression symtoms, so fix diet, and most of all fix the Gut, and if nothing works, then go on medications , sure they are bad but so are being depressed 24/7

    This was great and i like that you speak with honestly, im from Sweden and i have been taking this drug for a week now.
    The + is:
    -more focus
    -i have more motivation and wake up easier
    The minus
    - faster hearth rate and its hard to sleep.
    -sexual numbness, i lost alot of sensativity down stairs so to speak
    -easily upset
    My doctor said it wouldent effect my sexlife but it has, i know its to early to say but i had not been taking any drugs for a year when i started this and i felt the bad effect on sensetivity after just a day.
    Before when i was 23 many years ago i had a hormone imbalance and i became depressed and my doctor gave me 150 mg veneflaxine, which gave me about 10 bad sympthoms and even worsened my hormone balance and i had to leave work for half a year when i stopped it, it is a horroble drug and ruined my 20s.
    After i tested setraline and it made me sluggish and asexual.

      The symptoms are edge cases for a small percentage of people. Less than 5% of people experience those symptoms. They say this so if you do have those symptoms that you know it could be the drug and you talk to your doctor or work your way off of it. Vast majority of people don't have those symptoms.
      They also don't mention the dose that people experienced those symptoms. They also don't say if those people were taking other drugs.
      With medicine and humans, it's a bit complicated and it's unlikely to find something with no side effects. Some people are allergic to sunlight. But for the vast majority of people sunlight is very important for physical and mental health. Some people are allergic to peanuts and lactose. Most people aren't and can consume those foods no problem.

    I took Buproprion 150mg for about a month, and thought I noticed a slight improvement. However it seemed to make me much more impatient - yet also more honest and direct, something some would characterize as an increase of aggression, yet the reasons and validity for the aggression could relate to a new-found motivation and sense of self for people who have long not had it, standing up for themselves for the first time - take that as you will. Still, I decided to discontinue it. Restarted again after I started to feel serious anhedonia. This time, it was as if my symptoms just got worse and worse. Read that others had a similar experience and that upping the dose seemed to help, tried it and it actually seemed to make me feel more depressed. I'm considering whether or not that was because of my outlook at the time or the med. Considering trying it again... Like the doc says, it's hit or miss and symptoms are flighty.

    • @Chris-cf2kp
      @Chris-cf2kp Год назад

      @Mack The Ripper I'm very observant for my physiological and mindset states. My symptoms are primarily physiological, not tied to my mindset. Anhedonia despite very clean diet and a curated mindset. It's one last piece to this puzzle that is my body. Have been testing my blood and thyroid. Seeing a psychiatrist soon. Aware that stopping and starting medications is ill-advised. That's especially true for SSRI's, but Wellbutrin does not function like SSRI's which require tapering from, and is easier to stop quickly with less adverse effects.

    • @Chris-cf2kp
      @Chris-cf2kp Год назад

      @Mack The Ripper I've read that people can get anxiety from Wellbutrin. It's a reuptake inhibitor for dopamine and norepinephrine after-all, which means you might have more of those things available to your body to use, which are two chemicals likely to stimulate anxiety. I think I've seen anecdotes of some people taking anti-anxiety medications in-tandem with Wellbutrin when it causes them anxiety. Don't go by me though, you should tell your doctor your symptoms and ask if they think it would be good to stop or try an anti-anxiety med. Just be mindful and read about the common symptoms people experience if you use those meds and be certain of your decision.
