    Was on this med for over 2 decades. A self-employrd remodeler, specializing in kitchens and baths, I found myself looking for anything to go wrong on the job so I could quit and go home by noon. Was given Wellbutrin because "it has an energy component", per my Dr..I never noticed increased energy, but was surprised to find myself able to put in a full days work by the end of the first week. When a frustrating problem arose,, I simply solved it and kept working. Eventually decided to stop the med as no longer needed. Never lost much weight, but did stop a 51 year smoking habit. Today, as an 82yo widower, I have no motivation to do even simple tasks like shave and shower. Expecting new scrip for buproprion to arrive in mail this week, and pray that it works again, like it did back in 1992!

      @nickkendall7 I will say that the medication had been helping....I had some issues with my psychiatrist and then my mother passed away June 25 and now I'm back down on the floor, pulling myself up all over again. I've now lost my only brother and my mother in the span of 3 years and 3 months. Alone in the world doesn't feel so great, especially with my mental health issues. I do have a support system, but this is the worst pain I've felt in my entire existence, and I'm scared of how long I'm going to feel like this 💔 😞

    • @LevelheadedMind
      @LevelheadedMind  2 года назад +1

      I'm glad to hear your depression has improved with adding Bupropion. The tremors are most likely a result of increased norepinephrine. Talk with your provider about possibly lowering the Effexor back to 150XL, that may help. Or if you are fine with the tremor and it goes away, not affecting your daily functioning you may choose to stay on what you are on if it is working well for you, as lowering the Effexor comes with a risk of returning symptoms.

    I took it years ago for quitting smoking, 3 pack a day habit, I was able to. It was difficult but before it was impossible. Later I needed an anti depressant so we tried Bupropion since I had not had any bad reaction to it. It's helping me work but oddly I crave food constantly and have ringing in my ears as well. After months of use I also find I am having trouble focusing. Wish I knew why I don't react the same as others, I could very much use a weight loss effect etc. On the plus side it hasn't changed my personality or thought patterns in any unpleasant way, I also cry a lot less and am more even tempered. I am going through menopause as well, helps with all the mood swinging.

      I had horrible side effects from it. It made me very agitated at first and then within days I was much worse. I had confusion and was out of my mind. I ended up calling 911 on myself and trying to put myself in a hospital. It was about 15 years ago. The hospital wouldn’t admit me but they sent me to a residential crisis center for a week. It’s similar to the hospital except that it’s not a locked ward and the people there aren’t usually a danger to themselves or others. They helped me realize it was from the Wellbutrin…I was so confused that I couldn’t even figure that much out. They took me off it, and i immediately started getting better. I was only on it for less than a week.
      I have adhd and I take adderall with none of those side effects, in fact, it calms me. I also take Lexapro (an SSRI) and I want to start to taper off it. I am tapering off the klonopin first. I took 3mg a day of klonopin for decades and it’s taken me 3 years to get down to .5 mg. Honestly, I wish I never took any of them.

    I've been on the SSRI Cipralex for over a decade. Now the doctor has told me it may not be as effective anymore, and will be prescribing Wellbutrin. I'm enthusiastic, not only for managing my anxiety and depression. I feel I always struggled with my weight on Cipralex - I've heard even before this video that some report increased cravings to be a side effect with it, excited to hear Wellbutrin may do at least a bit of the opposite. I imagine it'll still come down to my personal choices, but nice to know this might assist with more than one of my challenges in life.

    I took this drug for two months and it was the most miserable experience I've ever had with medication. I had every side effect except seizure and psychosis. Dizziness, and a perpetual headache that nothing touched. When I started no one mentioned tachycardia and blood pressure, which became serious.
    These problems persisted after I stopped taking it. Dizziness and headache continued, it was 3-4 months before I felt normal again. Today, 18 years later I am still on medication for the tachycardia, which was never a problem before.

      @@LevelheadedMind Thank you for the comment. I have since become very cautious about medications, sometimes to the frustration of my doctors.
      Until this video I had never heard about the tachycardia or high blood pressure side effects. I never had a problem prior to taking this drug. Before the Buproprion I was taking Valproic Acid, which caused a 30 pound weight gain. But even then my blood pressure was not extreme, generally 130s/80s. And heart rate remarkably low for being in such poor athletic shape. Stopped the Valproic Acid, started Bupropion, lost some 10-12 pounds during that 2 months on it, managed to get in much better athletic condition despite the side effects (weird, the headache disappeared while I was running but returned when I stopped). My blood pressure went to 160s/90s. AFTER losing weight and getting in better shape. Sometimes the diastolic was over 100. Heart rate increased to where it would frequently be around 100 most of the day. Then I started getting serious heart palpitations, I'd lay awake all night with my chest pounding. At 100+ a minute. Got so scared I went to the hospital. That's when I began heart medication which now, 18 years later, I still need, even though I was on Bupropion for only 2 months in 2004.
      I have often asked doctors etc about how these heart conditions started and all I got was "no one knows what causes these things, here, take some more drugs." This video is the first verification that the Bupropion might have been the cause.

    Real antidepressants involve the boost of dopamine whereas SSRIs are really used to quell anxieties and especially trauma by calming the amygdalae with serotonin whereas Dopamine, or the lack of it is responsible for depression and any Wellbutrin works for that than SSRIs which also cause lack of pleasure or even inability to be one’s self as they would certain worsen depression as SSRIs can cause that.

      Venlafaxina con bupropion

      Y la última es mirtazapina con bupropion😊

    I have been taking this medication to treat Seasonal Affective Disorder for 18 years. It has worked well for me. However, I did try to go off of it one summer and it was very, very difficult to do. I tapered down slowly for 5 weeks, and it was tough. I am not planning to do this ever again.

They all seem to think its not harmful or expired. Can anyone offer any insight or knowledge from experience?

    I'm on sertraline 100mg (it really helped with anxiety) and now I'm also on buproprion 300mg extended release. Sertraline, especially at 200mg, in conjunction with some life stuff, made me apathetic and somewhat depressed but really improved my anxiety and OCD. Buproprion has helped get me out of that slump and interested in life again as well as being more social. However, I find I get anxious, have jitters, the occasional anxious/paranoid thought and hot flushes (super annoying) now. Ive been on SSRIs for almost 2 years now hopefully I will come off in the next few months. And I'm trying to stop my vaping and excessive caffeine habit which is just bad for mental health in general and anxiety in particular. I hope I can manage without these

    Hello, I suffer with mild anxiety and the main issues caused for me are concentration and memory issues. I have never taken an anti-depressant as I am not sure the side effects are worth it. However, I have been researching wellbutrin and I believe it could aid my issues. Although, I was wondering if you could answer this question; if I start taking Wellbutrin and the side effects are not worth it, if I stop the medication, what will happen? I have read stories where peoples mental issues get worse when they come off medication than they were before?

    • @LevelheadedMind
      @LevelheadedMind  2 года назад +9

      Hi Thomas, thanks for watching the video and for your question. Wellbutrin has little to no risk of abstinence syndrome, which commonly occurs with the SSRI and SNRI antidepressants. That being said, even with those antidepressants, you have to be on the medication longer than 2 months to be at risk for it. So, you should know by 2 months if you can tolerate Bupropion, and then if not, can stop it without any adverse effects. However, I always advise talking it over with your doctor first as there may be underlying reasons you are not tolerating the medication that they may want to test for. Another thing to consider is that Bupropion is great for those symptoms of concentration and memory issues, however, it can be stimulating. So if you have anxiety, it may not be a good choice for you if you cannot overcome those stimulating effects as it can make you more anxious. Another approach to this would be Trintellix, which is great for anxiety and can also improve concentration and memory. I just made a video about this medication so be sure to check that out. The same applies to Trintellix, in that if you have intolerable side effects and stop taking it before 2 months, you will be fine and not have any rebound or abstinence effects. I hope this helps, and wish you well on your mental health care journey. 🙏🏽

    • @LevelheadedMind
      @LevelheadedMind  2 года назад +1

      Yes, it's typically safe to be on both, you may want to ask them why they feels this way, also suggest taking the citalopram at night and Bupropion during the day may persuade them to do it. Having to come off citalopram alone then switch can cause return of depressive symptoms that can be more difficult to treat, especially if you are early on in your treatment. I hope this helps and good luck 👍

I felt a serious suicidal impulse. I live in Seoul and it's hard to find information about psychiatric side effects. Only recently did I know the difference between antidepressants, anti-anxiety drugs, mood controllers, and mood stabilizers. Sometimes when I got angry, I went to the hospital a few times, but I didn't take as much medicine as I do now.. Lithium, Qurokel, indenol, Xanax.. I don't know if this drug helps me.. • @LevelheadedMind

      Hi Kathleen. Definitely check with your provider it may or may not be from the medication. There are other things that may cause rash including laundry detergent, perfumes, foods, especially wheat, and many other things. Best to discuss with your doctor first before making any changes. Of coarse if your symptoms worsen or become life threatening, go to the ER.

    • @LevelheadedMind
      @LevelheadedMind  2 года назад +1

      Some SSRIs increase cravings for food, namely carbohydrates, due to increasing hunger hormones. I do not know of the association with alcohol. However, if you are dealing with this Naltrexone 25mg twice a day can be helpful to reduce cravings for alcohol and food.

    Does Saint Johns wort interact with Bupropion? I forgot to tell my Psychiatrist that i take Saint Johns wort (1800mg). Seeing that Saint Johns wort is an SSRI there should be no problems i think?

    • @LevelheadedMind
      @LevelheadedMind  2 года назад +2

      There is a potential for St. John's wort to induce the metabolism of Bupropion making it less effective. There is a small risk of serotonin syndrome but with such a high dose that you are taking that risk maybe increased. Furthermore, if you are taking other medications, there could be potential interactions as St.Johns wort has many drug interactions. So please tell your doctor you are taking this!

    My doctor prescribed me Bupoprion and prior to that, I’m taking a noortropics, Qualia mind to be specific.
    The noortropics did really works for me but I stopped it because my doctor doesn’t want me to take it. She gave me bupoprion instead.
    To be honest, I’m on my two weeks now with 300 mg of wellbutrin and I don’t think it’s working for me. Having brain fog all the time and lack of focus.
    Unlike when I was taking Noortropics, I was energetic, I can read all day, and I don’t have any brain fog episodes.
    I still have 21 pills for my Bupoprion, I wanted to stop it and switch back to my noortropics. but I read that you shouldn’t stop it abruptly.
    Is it ok to take bupoprion and nootropics together?
