    If you still have it set at the factory settings, I predict that none of them will do well and that the two heaviest pellOts (not bullOts) will stink. Chrono your pellets and find the ones that run about 880 to 900 feet per second at the muzzle. That is the sweet spot for long range shooting and you may have to adjust/tune the gun to get there. That is why those adjustments are so valuable to an airgun shooter. We can't "hand load" our pellets. The propulsion system is built into the gun and this gun lets you change it up, but most don't. It's similar to working up the best powder charge for a certain projectile in a muzzle loader. Now I'll watch and see if I'm right. I very glad you have taken an interest in our sport.

    • @mrhalfstep
      @mrhalfstep Год назад

      @@kevinbalcer8957 That's what I would expect. Did you do any tuning to get that kind of velocity from a 18 grain pellet. My two Avengers did that with 15 grain pellets out of the box, but not with 18 gr pellets. Haven't tried the FX brand yet, but I do have about 45 styles and brands in .22 that I experiment with. Where are they made and do you know if they are just a re-branding of some other premium pellet producer?

    You need to shoot the JSB Diabolo 18.13 grain. You need to Chronograph them all. The sweet spot is 860 FPS to 920ish FPS. My dad shoots one hole groups with his Avenger with wood stock. I put a Hawke scope on his Avenger. The hades will shoot well also. If you want to shoot those heavy JSB’s you will need to crank up the air pressure and the hammer spring. The heaviest I would shoot out of that with pin point accuracy is the JSB Diabolo 25.39 grain redesign. Try those out. 😊

    I didn't hear what your reg pressure is. If it's maxed out, you might be going supersonic, and that can degrade accuracy. Ideally, best accuracy is usually somewhere in the 850-900 fps ballpark. That ay they do not have to pass through transonic velocity.

    Like I already told you before you won’t find the best accuracy with your avenger in .22 cal until you set the reg to 1800 psi and adjust the hammer/spring to reache between 850 to 890 fps with any domed shape pellets that are what the barrels of this airguns like the most. Try the exact JSB or FX 15.89, JSB Hades 15.89, JSB or FX 18 grains and the air arms Diabolo fields in 16 and 18 grains. This are the pellets this avengers like the most between 25 and 50 yards. Also this airguns oem mags in .22 cal are not the best, try to make some shots with the oem single tray and you would noticed and improvement in accuracy. This is why I use the aftermarket Carm magazines they increase their accuracy and helps to achieve tighter groups. A chronograph also helps a lot to achieve the best overall results. Good luck 👍😊

    Get some javelins or h&n slugs 23 to 26 grains or the jsb knock out's mk2 and see videos on how to tune the rifle. You can also add a power plenum to the gun and make it shoot lights out and relative flat with the 26gr going at 1000fps. Either way if you tune the rifle is going to be a laser beam!!

    There are 4 brands of pellet worth considering, JSB (and the AA and Daystate pellets they manufacture too), H&N, RWS and Crosman.
    You dont want pointed, hollowpoint, multi banded or any gimmicky stuff, just good long tail domes... everything else is less accurate, see what the FT (Field target) or HFT (Hunter Field Target) boys use.....use that.
    40 years of experience telling you this
    An unregulated rifle is more consistent through its "hotspot" string of shots than a regulated rifle (which gives you a longer string of fair consistency)
    Venturi like a lot of budget rifles may give you a tack driver followed by a scattergun (and, indeed, seem to have.... I've had similar with Hatsan tbh)
    Buy an Air Arms or Weihrauch and the scales will fall from your eyes lol
    I can beat those groups freehand with my HW95 springer....so something is clearly off
    If your PCP doesn't wear a Lothar Walther barrel you're in accuracy roulette
    Try cleaning the bore, check at the muzzle for burrs, take off the muzzle thread cap if it has one, remove the barrel shroud etc, check barrel tightness...or looseness.
    Somethings amiss when the only bird you'll bring down is a tin one at the fair.
    I've watched guys at my HFT club put 10, literally on top of each other at 50 yards, benched. And the sport of HFT requires you to hit half inch targets, freehand, outside out to 25 yards and inch targets out to 60 yards.
    You'd be better off throwing the rifle lol.

    You should get a sampler pack of jsb pellets. They come with different weight pellets with varying head diameters to find what works best with your set up. Another thing to look at is tuning down to lower speeds. Pellets can have some adverse affects like spiraling flight paths when when too fast. There are some decent videos of slow mo effects on pellets. Check em out. Overall it’s a fun experience finding what pellet runs best in your rifle.

    different diameter head sizes may improve the grouping. I have an Air Arms S200 that groups badly with JSB Exact 4.51mm head, but groups really well with the 4.53mm head size version of same pellet. Also some pellets don't like going faster than say 880fps as they start spiralling. Slowing down the pellet speed can sometimes improve the accuracy too. JSB Exact does seem to be a great pellet. Even at just 780fps the holdover to 50 yards isn't that bad - second zero at 40 yards and use the mildots out to 55 yards (max on my range). With airgun hunting accuracy is the most important factor, more so that the weight of the pellet, so if you get a 15.89 Exact grouping better than the 28 grain Senecas, then that's the better pellet for your set up.

    You MUST try the JSB 15.89 Hades. You might also do better tuning the regulator and Hammer spring so that the velocity is in the 880 FPS area, but again, that is what testing is for. Another rule of thumb that seems to work, at least for my 22 Umarex Origin(which is VERY similar, much like an unregulated version of this avenger): if the regulator pressure is set higher(or i my case, if the air tank is filled to near max PSI), use higher HS adjustments. If the pressure is lower, turn the HS out(counter clockwise), maybe all the way out. Just stuff for you to play with. I'm pretty sure you can get MUCH smaller groups than you have been getting, particularly with those JSB pellets. You must have lucked out with the factory settings of your 25 cal, at least for whatever pellets gave you .3" groups. I don't think .3" 50 yd groups are at all unusual for this gun, but sometimes it takes some tuning both to find the best pellet AND to get the gun adjusted best for THAT pellet. Keep it up, love your testing!

    When they ship these rifles, they are not in any way tuned..you won't get the best accuracy, and definitely not the best shot count. I'd suggest looking at AEAC on RUclips video on this gun, very, VERY thorough on how to tune the gun and the ins and outs of it. The gun should be shooting 1-1.5" groups at 100 yards honestly. It looks like the pellets are tumbling for some reason 🤔 I'd definitely shoot over a chrony and figure out what velocity you're at..

  • @sirjhonson8218
    @sirjhonson8218 Год назад

    You need to slow down your rifle . Around 800 to 900 fps will make them more accurate .

    I would use that gun with a power tune in .25 cal. to hunt pigs . I have killed 100 lbs. to 120 lbs. hogs with a .25 cal. air rifle .
