Any tips on installing the shifter retainers? Mine were all squirreled up so I bought some replacements, dug the old ones out and ... how do these things fit in‽ They're tight, and I ain't kidding.
At the end when you re insert the shifter shaft, is there a mechanism inside the square part that holds it in place, I have the same type and mine must be missing something as I can just pull on it and comes right out freely?
Yes, there should be a clip built in to the metal piece that goes behind the rubber insulators and clips into the shifter handle detent. The clip part should be at the top of the mechanism and facing toward the center of the housing when installing.
If you have the push in style, it should just slide right in and there's supposed to be a built-in spring clip in the mechanism itself that clips into the handle detent. Only need the putty knife method or a .010 feeler gauge for removal of the handle.
Yes, I rebuild shifters, rebuilding shifter is $200.00 plus parts... I have over 300 shifters in stock, and I have access to Hurst replacement parts... I do have a large selection of old dis-continued Hurst parts... E-mail me crash_enterprises@yahoo.com
Eric you did an amazing job explaining in detail the process! I’m redoing my 70 z28 shifter and this was invaluable! Thanks!
Nice video Eric!
Excellent! Thanks for taking the time to document this procedure.
Nicely done.

His other video covers the shift retainers at the end. Never goes into how to put the new ones in.

Awesome video! Do you sell the tools and jigs you made? Would love to purchase one.
I do sell a tool kit, but right now I'm out of stock on the holding fixture
The holding fixtures are back in stock now
@@debbiedavidson5812 How do I order a kit? Can’t find it on your website. Thanks.
Any chance you can share the tool dimensions for installing the springs?
I have tool kits for sale... E-mail me at crash_enterprises@yahoo.com
@@ericdavidson3384 Hi, interested in one as well, sent email but no answer. Do you have another contact method? Thx,

Do you have the tools in stock to buy?
I'm out of stock right now, I'll be running a new batch soon.
Have any in stock yet?
Nice but noisy camera work. You need a tripod.
The camera is on a tripod, I think the noise you hear is from the tool caddy, using and replacing tool in my aluminum tool caddy...
Do you rebuild shifters and average price also need to change top of comp plus to offset

The average Joe should leave the carrier in tact and just clean reassemble the rest.
