- Authorities have arrested a suspect following an hours-long standoff on a freeway in Harris County, Texas.
Aerial footage shows SWAT officers move in on the truck after using a battering ram to rip out sections of the side of the 18-wheeler.
Officials said it all began when a patrol unit noticed a stalled 18-wheeler. The deputy attempted to make a traffic stop but the driver took off.
The I-10 was shut down in both directions but has since reopened.

In your 10 years as a cop, how many rogue semi truck drivers did you have to deal with? That truck is like a fortress on wheels. Even with it disabled, you have be weary of such a large machine. Many drivers live in their truck full time, and openly declare they keep weapons inside. Plus, if you know truck drivers, you know they can never be trusted. There is a reason they are known as pirates of the road.

Paramedics were not involved in the arrest, only law enforcement officers.
The paramedics were there on standby, to treat any injuries or illness.
They didn't need the paramedics. They should have just called the coroner right from the beginning and save gas.

Only the people in TRUCKING industry knows how painful this ordeal is. Everything around truckin is NOT cheap! Insurance, maintenance, fuel, elog dues, taxation , heavily regulated etc ..the list goes on! This is tragic. No TRUCKER really anticipates their trucks being stolen!😢 😢 The truckin community takes care of each other on the road.
Right I find this a horrific ordeal, as this is way over the top even for a stolen truck? The reporting on this is horrible as it doesn't us what exactly happened? It does cover how big/heavy and how DANGEROUS this truck could be if it was able to continue rolling on the highway. My thing is when they say the truck was stolen was it actually stolen or was the driver fired and told to get out the truck with no where to go, or did he quit and before he could get his personal belongings out and the company reported the truck stolen? We know just how well some of these trucking companies can treat us truckers, especially when we don't jump when they say jump or when we just happen to be late for a delivery? In short this isn't a good look for the trucking community as it truly a lot of good drivers getting crapped on by the companies but by or how the community views us as TRUCKERS (all bad situation) with a lot of wholes in the story here.

Obviously you do not realize that and vehicle in gear will move on it's own without any gas being given which is why you have to keep your foot on the brake at a red light or it will roll. Yuppies.. smart people with 0 skills I swear.

This is not the right way to deal with this situation.
As a former officer when someone wouldn't come out of their veh we would break the door glass and pull them out. What does it take for todays police to remove a person from a truck? A robot, swat and a armored veh. and still can't get it done. Cartels around the world are watching the incompetency. Does anyone else find this a little odd? That's a lot of hardware for just a simple chase. I've seen many chases involving a semi truck over the years and not once have I seen anything like this.
Heck even the high speed chases seen over the years involving cop shooters don't end up using this much force.
