For everyone who is as curious as I was:
Herschel Reynolds (driver) and Isaiah Young (passenger) were each sentenced to two years in jail for this nonsense. Reynolds is a Marine Corps trained tactical driver who was "prematurely discharged" for "character of service incongruent with Marine Corps standards and expectations" five months previous to these events. Also, Reynolds was accused of at least two other crimes between his military discharge and this arrest.

Thanks. Unbelievable that this only gave them a two years sentence. Probably out on probation after about one year ? Stealing and destroying a nice car, putting many at the risk of death or damage, forcing the police to use a lot of money on this chase. This small sentences does not prevent car theft and running from the police at all. Probably the opposite ? And the insurance takers and taxpayers pays the bill.
That's all they got was 2 years? I was thinking that 10 years would be a light sentence

Title update: “The most bizarre police chase COMMENTARY you will ever HEAR”
It will be a nice lockdown family game. First show the contestants the whole story (i.e. this video). Than, give them the oppertunity to see it again and make remarks on a notepad, writing down every clue to make a nonsense comment when possible. Finally in front of the audience bring up a new comment on the whole track and try to do it "better" or more hilarious, the audience will give numbers at the end.

I've got no beef with the police on this one. The problem is that they had a Black Lives Matter bumper sticker above an Antifa bumper sticker. A double wammy against the hands tied Police. Police Commissioner, "Ok guys, we have a lot of cameras on us right now. We can look like fools and be forgiven but for crying out loud, don't rush them, they might hit a cat and then we'll be in court for the next 3 years fighting a PETA lawsuit."
The idiots in the car and all their homie's we're probably trying to play cool so when the cop's got there, they hoped that they could catch some police brutality. Which obviously didn't happen.
I must say that the cop with the spike strips was pretty asinine. Not only did he fail miserably twice, part of his problem was that he was moving as if anything faster than a slow stroll would have winded him. What in the hell was he thinking. He had a 12 foot spike strip and he threw it from 4 feet on the other side of a car that was three lanes over from the Mustang. Of course that was only after he passed the Mustang that was at a complete stop and remained stopped as the spike strip cop continued down the street so he could fail at a spike strip attempt.

Why is it that the most clueless people call these police chases? These two women should never be allowed to call a police chase again. There were soooo many things they didn't even see happen.

To everyone saying they didn't: try to commentate something happening live, from a helicopter, and try to think of intelligent things to say, spur of the moment.
Maybe they didn't say everything perfectly, though no one would. But they did a great job, and they were entertaining and informative and made the pursuit that much better to view.
Admittedly, it would be better if this pursuit had never taken place at all, and this car was never stolen, and damage was never caused, and taxpayer money was never wasted, and people's lives were not put in jeopardy.

The two women who basically their own gigglefest, talk show during this chase was more bizarre than the chase itself! They were bringing up strange things, not really the kind of things you usually hear during a live, dangerous police chase. They were light-heartedly talking about the condition of LA's roads and one of them pondered what the procedure would be to get your car returned after being carjacked and it being involved in a chase. And if that wasn't strange enough, right at the end, they mentioned that anyone who would find this humorous must have something wrong with them. Yet they giggled their way through half of this! You see what happens when mindless anchor women don't have a teleprompter in front of them?
