  • A suspect was in custody after leading police on a high-speed pursuit through Southern California. During the chase, the suspect is accused of carjacking three vehicles: a minivan, a BMW sedan and a work van.
The suspect then ditched the van, made a run for it, and carjacked a second vehicle at a gas station. A short time later, the suspect made a third vehicle swap and carjacked a van at a gas station.
The pursuit finally came to an end after the suspect exited and attempted to re-enter the freeway, that's where the highway patrol officers successfully completed a PIT maneuver, crashing into and trapping the stolen van.

💯 -- With thousands of pursuits occurring in the _car-chase capital_ on the planet(LA).. Reporters have had ample time to refine their craft, relative to vehicle pursuits.
It's funny but sadly, that's exactly what it's become.. Something almost akin to a sporting event.😄 lol

It's NOT a carjacking if no one is in the vehicle. If the keys are left inside and doors are unlocked that's just GRAND LARCENY. GL is just an unlawful 'taking' of property.

When I park for gas before I get out of my locked car I put a club on the wheel. Amazon sells a really nice heavy duty and padded combo lock wheel club. I can throw it on the wheel in 3 seconds. Don't care what happens your not jacking my car. Club has no key. I have one of these in all my cars. Sometimes old school is the best and easiest.

Never, ever, ever leave your car running while pumping gas. Never leave your keys in your car. Always lock your doors, even if you're only going inside for less than a minute. I once worked at a gas station and had a customer run inside just to prepay with cash. She was not in the store for ten seconds, and in that time before she could turn back to leave, she had her purse, phone, and wallet all stolen. Just like that. It couldn't have been even a minute between her leaving and returning to her car. It happens that fast.
We had a regular of ours almost have his truck stolen. If it weren't for the fact that he had his keys on him, they would have. Always, always be cautious. The minor inconvenience is absolutely worth it.

One thing people don't know is that leaving vehicles running while refueling can damage your engine, when the cap is tight, it creates a vacuum as intended. When it's not, there is no vacuum, and can give you a check engine light. If you do it too much, you will destroy your vehicle over time

Following and chasing are two completely different things. They were following, NOT chasing.
MOST places around the world would have put an end to it and suspects in custody in under 10 minutes, with an average of 7 minutes and often less. THIS was an outdated, blatantly cowardly, shameful and reckless waste of time, money and resources...putting way too many members of the public's lives at needless risk of injury or death.

I moved out of California right after the 94 Northridge quake and i can't picture a lot of those streets anymore. It's weird because i used to drive for a car company too. I know the streets, i just can't picture some of them.
