Thanks I'm going to do this, my truck has just over 200k miles, I'm the 2nd owner got it with around 120k so I've never done this for fear of messing it up but now I see that's it's an easy process. Thank you.
JBA Longtubes
Hey there , I just got a titan pro4x , it has 129 k miles but seems to be holding up nicely. Since you are an owner of this type of truck what are your thoughts about it longevity ? So man RUclipsrs seem to think that titans are crap but I wonder if they have sponsorship with competitors ?what are your thoughts ?
Thanks bro, your video is just straight to the point.
I’ve learned a lot from this channel keep it up 👍
Thank you!
Thank you for taking the time making this video. A job well done!
Did it today my man! Thank you so much! Hope
You keep
It up!
We love you Aaron Hines... Great content dude. You are awesome.
a good tip for bebinners also is 2 or 3 lengths ,4 inch or so threaded rod , wood dowels will work too, same thread as the cover bolts. put them in and slide cover up to diff. less chance of side slipping the silicone
This Titan aluminum cover will fit the M226 axle on a Frontier. I installed a new cover on my 2023 Pro4x Frontier and use the LubeLocker gasket. It works great.
Great information, I own a 09 4wd with about 131,000 and I am going to pull cover and check internals. Thanks
I just did this service a couple months ago. I have the steel cover and there were no tabs. Its a good time to check the diff breather while you’re there. Mine was caked full. I also replaced the brake line while I was there. NY winters suck.
Man that’s a bummer about the brake line, in AZ we don’t see a lot of rust. Those breathers are horrible. I also have a steel cover on my personal Titan. (04)
@@AaronHinesAuto The aluminum case cover was added in '06 i think . Mine has it and it's an 06. The alum. cover was added to alleviate an overheating problem in the diff. It's not there to look good, but it does. Heat was building into the diff and foaming or whatever. Plus it is a small capacity gearbox. Axle seals were a problem too. If you tow on a regular basis , get an alum. cover. My two cents great video Aaron
just replaced my gear oil for free, thanks! would’ve cost me for sure
My 2006 had a lot of metal in the grease my 2013 was real clean it also has a lot of throttle delay when starting out most of the metal in the 06 comes from the spider gears.
I've got a 2006 myself and just started losing pressure or no power on takeoff is the big issue I'm having I've got 213, 000 miles on mine
Good and easy explanation and video was on point for pertinent video need to show the steps.
That must be a very late model 2004 , my 2004 had a steel diff cover . I have to buy the aluminum cover for mine .
When filling out drives on outboard motors we fill from the bottom to prevent any air pockets from forming
Instead of using silicone to seal it, can you use a gasket ?
Thank you mucho- learned a lot and saved me some dineros
How about torque lbs on bolts. The one thing I needed.
Transfer case drain/fill plugs to 26 ft.lbs and differential drain/fill plugs (front 25 ft. lbs, rear 32 lbs.). Hope that helps!
Noiceeee super clean job
Keep the Titan videos coming! Do you think it's overkill to put high temp thread sealant on the plugs before reinstalling them?
Not at all! And thanks for the support!
no need
@@bbhoustontx Why does the factory add thread sealant to the plugs then??
Thanks for your video
Just had my 2010 serviced @ 130k. Not sure if it was ever done. They told me when they pulled the plug it was full of metal gunk on the plug. All they did was drain and replace fluid. Should I do this procedure and spray for the extra gunk to save the rear end or am I doomed?
aint there a drain plug on the bottom. mine has it, w a magnet too -05 titan
If your diff isn’t leaking is it necessary to take the cover off and do this or just drain and refill ??
good video. mine is a limited slip differential and if you have a LSD, add the required bottle of LSD lube. It's a small bottle. Like 2 or 3 ounces. My two cents.
Good Job
Does a 2008 Nissan Titan LE 4x2 Crew Cab have "limited slip"? Do I need the limited slip additive with the rear diff gear oil I use?
Aaron do you have any exhaust manifold recommendations for the Titan?
Como siempre maestro Gracias
You said to use a degreaser and had the brake parts cleaner in your tools needed, but used the blue bottle to clean off your cover. What is in that one?
Thank you!
Thanks for this. Very helpful. Do you have a video for the front differential and auto gearbox too?
Used truck just bought, 250000 miles. Going to do this but just added some fluid and and smells like burning plastic?
Just thank you .
Thank you
Why not just get the gasket?
Is there a face plate that you take off? I’m just wondering because I thought my 06 titan no fear edition had a faceplate on my rear diff before I took it to the tire shop
Nice job 👍🏾
Where are live
excellent
need a good locker for my'06 2WD titan. The limited slip is only marginal help. Anyone got any recommendations? could rebuild my lsd but they don't last long 50,000 miles at best.
I was driving my 04 titan and it started making a clanking noise in the rear. I was far from home so I kept driving. Noise went a ay after 3 miles or so. Now I’m worried. Truck is lifted and it looks like it has a after market differential. Any suggestions? Thanks for the help. Clanking noise went away but now I hear like if the brakes are rubbing against the brakes
Did you figure out what it was? I think it could be the bushing on your driveshaft. I saw a video on YT about a Nissan Titan having a similar issue where there was a clanking sound during shifts.
Is these only on 4x4s? Newbie here.
Nope. Same procedure for 2wd and 4 wd
Great video Aaron, one question for you....I have a 2004 Titan, 80,000 miles...My owners manual says SAE 80W -90 viscosity...but you say SAE 75w - 140 synthetic....was there an update from nissan saying use a heavier oil...or does it matter.....Thank You
If you notice, it has that number on the diff cover.
80-90 is for the front diff, but 75w-90 can be used no issues. Rear can use a 75w-90 with no issues, but if you tow with your truck than 75w-140 is best.
Exelent job
Thank you!
Mine was just as dirty and it wasn’t that many miles
what's the name of the pneumatic tool you were using to sand off the silicone?
Die grinder
Use the same type of oil for the front?
75 or 80W 90 for front
Guess I don't understand why you took the cover off,and what was the business about the diff breather on top?Seems like maybe that is the cause of the axle seal leaking
Gaylord Miller the first thing he says in this video is why he does that lol.....
does it have a allen ranch hole in it
Your socket wrench will fit.
I have a 2005 infiniti qx56,, the engine is very loud or the fan, almost sounds like its struggling, what can i do? What do you think it is. Thanks sensei
It is normal. I have a 2000 tundra next to be running and I can't feel or hear the engine. Then comes the titan with its loud fan. Something i really hate about my titan.
It's your clutch fan
How do you know when its time for this service
He said every 60,000 miles in the beginning of video
I’m not understanding the bottle upside down 🤦🏾♂️
I followed this video and I think I have a leak at the fill plug what do I do ?
Put thread sealant on it.
i thought they had a drain plug.
They do, but his had a leak so he took it off, cleaned it and resealed it.
Thank you
