  • In this video I show the steps and procedures to replace a leaking axle seal and bearing in a Nissan titan years 2004 -2015. This is a very common issue with these trucks. Before replacing the axle seal and bearing make sure to check out the condition of your axle vent. Many times the accident becomes clogged and doesn’t allow pressure to vent and escape out of the differential housing. Allowing fluid to leak past the axle seal. Below is a complete List of parts and tools I use during this video. If you have any questions or comments feel free to leave something in the conversation. Thank you for watching

    Thanks Aaron for the quality of your videos and the parts lists/details that you add. 2005 Titan - I'd replaced the driver's seal some time ago, but the passenger is now replaced this weekend thanks to a refresher course watching your video - and, since you made the vent modification suggestion and information handy - got what I needed in advance to take care of that. Super handy having your parts lists/detail. Your RUclips channel is a great resource - thanks for the time you have put into making that happen!

    Made it look easy. I had an axle repair done at a shop and if there is any rust involved it can be a lot harder to get the axle out of the tube. They were using different slide hammers for about an hour straight. Then the bearing race was stuck in and they couldn't get that out easily. I will also mention that for regular folks it may be easier to just get the whole new axle assembly with all the bearings, seals, etc already installed. I just ordered the axle assy and took it to the shop to install. Once they got the old one out they just slid the new axle assy in. I have done the axle vent mod too.
    I like seeing high mileage Titans. It's encouraging to me as I plan on keeping mine and just fixing/upgrading as needed. I have a 2010.

    • @yungavalor3192
      @yungavalor3192 2 года назад

      Very true. I would much rather replace the whole axle than just the bearings and seats. That is just too much effort in my honest opinion. Sure it is more expensive but factoring in me having to buy a hydraulic press, it would be about the same.

      @@isaaccooper2447 Next time ask for clarification before you assume you know. I only paid $167.00 for the whole new rear “AXLE SHAFT” with new bearings already pressed in and ready to install. No cutting or pressing required. Replaced old rusty axle shaft. Part# 2005994-1. Now tell the truth, you thought I replaced the whole rear axle assembly, including differential ?

    • @NeverEnoughPyro40
      @NeverEnoughPyro40 Год назад

      If you paid $167 for a complete loaded axle you are using subpar part, There is no way that you purchased a genuine Nissan axle with either Nissan or Timken parts! You probably purchased your parts from either a local auto parts chain or Amazon, Either way I guarantee your parts are junk! Unlike most people in this comment section my knowledge comes from over 25 years as a Mechanic and the past 10 years of being a shop owner! Next time you leave a comment trying to be cocky you should make sure you are comparing apples to apples not apples to crap!

    • @kevinknotts6337
      @kevinknotts6337 Год назад

      @@NeverEnoughPyro40 Again, for those who obviously don't read. I even put the part# in my reply so everyone can see what I used. The part# is 2005994-1. I DID NOT say I replaced the entire rear axle if that's what you're thinking (not sure). I replaced the assembled rear axle SHAFT. It's not a Timken part it's a Dana Spicer part. You know, the ones who make that rear end. You CAN get the exact part from Nissan but it is $387.00 from a quick Google check. I don't care how much shop experience you have.......you're wrong and I want you to come back and admit that. Your shop reputation is on the line now that you stepped in like this.

      That will not cause any problems whatsoever, However if there are any high spots just use a little emery cloth and sand them down first! My answer is based on the last 27 years as a mechanic and shop owner for the last 10, I have also performed substantial modifications to a few vehicles that have been featured in muscle mustangs and fast fords magazines!

    In need of advice from anyone familiar with Titans. I have a massive clunk when I come to a stop. Now before anyone starts with stupid comments. I’ve had it at 2 different shops. And two friends that are top notch mechanics. No one has figure it out. Problem 2: that may be associated. The trans mount has broken and when under HEAVY acceleration the u-joint comes up to meet the floor pan and bangs as it rotates. So I replaced the mount. It lasted about a week. Back to problem 1: it doesn’t clunk if I stop extremely smooth. However if I don’t jerk it to a stop it will clunk extremely loud on take off, as soon as the truck pitches its angle(bed squats under acceleration.). I’ve dealt with this for over 200K miles. Does anyone have ANY ideas?
