    great info in this video. I had to cut bearing off with grinder. I used an 1 1/2' PVC pipe to set bearing.

    I want to thank you for the time you spent making this video no knowing how many people you will help doing it 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏. I'm one of them, today finally I took the time to do it and to bring the driveshaft down it was a blink of an eye but to remove the bearing was a pain the but, we ended cutting it in pieces but it worth the extra time. Put a new one and now my titan is running like new 👌👌 , you helped me to save a lot of money. Thanks again partner for your excellent work. ☝️☝️👏👏👏☝️👏

    Thank you so much for posting this video! Followed this video today, step by step, replacing the center support bearing. My titan is riding like a champ! I had horrible wobble/ shaking (almost hit someone that's how bad it was the first time)on take off and slow down. Thanks to this video all it cost me was 100$ for the part 10$ for fence post and 4$ for anti Siege. Saved me ab 1000$ since Firestone told me I needed to replace my whole drive shaft!! Scammers everywhere, do your own research before spending money

      I had the same issue...was making a left hand turn at a 4 way stop and the shaking was outrageous!...pulled over and then went on my way with no issue...then I got home a googled the issue I was having...sure enough the drive shaft carrier bearing was shot! Had it replaced by my mobile mechanic I've had for years..but you are right...lots of small shops out there will try to take you to the cleaners...LOL..no problems since!

    Great vid! Think I will be replacing the U joints this weekend on my 08 Pathfinder and possibly more. I can hear a popping/clicking noise sometimes, sounds like its coming form where the U joints are or maybe even a little further up. And also shudders around 40-45 then goes away as soon as I take my foot off the accelerator. Not driving it until I can see what the issue is. Oh and the tranny was rebuilt bout a year ago so I'm hoping this won't be another expensive fix 🤔

    Would this cause a clunking while towing heavy? Mine is bad, but havent noticed any issues shifting or vibration other than when towing heavy. I get a clunking sound. I cant see any other issue's visually.

    • @APDTY

      Sure, towing can add plenty of extra load on the suspension and drivetrain and make things so up that might not show up unloaded.

    I have a 07 Nissan Titan I replaced my carrier bearing drove5 miles and the front shaft going into transmission is trying to slide out causing my new carrier rubber to stretch. Is the driveshaft supposed to be jammed into transmission until it locks in ?

    • @APDTY
      @APDTY  6 лет назад +2

      Lawrence Miller no the driveshaft actually must be able to slightly expand and contract as the vehicle goes over bumps or accelerate and decelerate, depending on the driveshaft that you have, you want to make sure the front and center of the driveshaft can move freely, you may also want to verify the carrier bearing is installed exactly where the old one was, a careful inspection of the driveshaft should reveal the cause of this

      If it is 2WD, then its probably the same as the Titan. The Nissan catalog doesn't see to list it for the Armada and thats why we say should. If you can measure your current bearing and it matches these specs below, then see APD-139993 = apdty.com/products/apd-139993?_pos=1&_sid=03e350002&_ss=r
      Center Support Bearing Specs:
      Mount Bracket Hole Centers 6.700"
      Internal Diameter 1.574"
      Width 0.866"

    Please help me here, my car vibrates at any speed, tapping at low speed and vibration from 35mph upward. The tapping is about the front driver side shaft a bit loose or wobbly perhaps. And on the rear (middle) not the big fat one at the back but the one before that, it’s got worn u-joint. But then what baffles me is that yours car have carrier bearing and mine doesn’t either middle or rear fat shaft doesn’t have it. I have 2006 armada LE, is that possible?

    • @APDTY
      @APDTY  6 лет назад +2

      yinka santacruz if you have a bad u-joint, you have to replace that ASAP, it will be very hard to diagnose any other vibration with a bad ujoint, also since you will be removing the driveshaft, replace all the ujointd at the same time, if the carrier bearing is worn that should also be replaced, then a thorough inspection and test drive to verify all the vibrations are gone

      Did you torque the back of the driveshaft to the differential to specifications? That's one thing he did not mention in this video.

  • @stevebodiford7858
    @stevebodiford7858 5 лет назад +2

    Have an 05 Armada... 190k on it... starting to notice a slight vibration under driver seat... it's intermittent right now. Tranny shifts smoothly, no hesitations... performance of truck is normal. Could this be an early symptom of the drive line, u bolts, linkage???

    • @APDTY
      @APDTY  5 лет назад +2

      Steve Bodiford yes and you can inspect the driveshaft by checking for any play, zero play should exist in the unjoints and the carrier bearing should look like nice rubber and no cracks, the vibration ca also be a clue, the speed and the change of speed, for instance if you coast at around 45mph and feel the vibration and then accelerate slightly, if the vibration goes away, then it can be drivetrain related as when u accelerate u put a load on the drivetrain and it tightens up the play for a short period of time,

    • @viorelnaidin5933
      @viorelnaidin5933 5 лет назад

      At 190k you need to check the differential too. At 574k replacing the rear axle all the vibrations and the noises went away, but the mechanic whant to replace the carrier bearing and the u-joint,like in this nice video to! Thank you for the video APDTY!

    Hello APDTY, thank you for the awesome video. I had a quick question. My carrier bearing was worn so I removed the driveshaft and took it to my mechanic. He removed and installed a new carrier bearing. I made sure the carrier bearing was installed in the same exact spot as the old one. I put the driveshaft in (exactly as it came out) and now there is a very small leak where the driveshaft meets the transmission. Do you have any idea why? A broke seal? Thank you

    Why do you not wet anything down with a loosening agent?? 😕
    Ppl- do this.. it will help immensely lol..
    NEVER scratch on a machined surface!
    Also, protect the yoke and don’t drag it around on concrete! 🤦‍♀️
    I’m not a mechanic, but I know ANY machined surface needs to be treated delicately.
    No no nooo I had to stop watching after watching you bang on the u joint lobes lol
    This is not a good instruction video.
    U joint - use socket and 3# hammer over solid, raised surface to remove. (Lightly oil surfaces prior to removal).
    You must have a good way to hold parts down and solid while working on them(ie clamps/vice/etc- do not put driveshaft in a vice) and .-important.
    Also- treat new caps very delicately-small needle bearings and machined surfaces need to go in very aligned and straight-
    😱I can’t believe you put the boot back on without greasing the splines. 😅👌👍 holy shit.
    And those splines look tore up if u look closely- 😣
