    Hi Ian , greeting from Ireland 🇮🇪 again.
    You'll need to apply thermal compound between the PTU and the engine, or it will fail prematurely.
    Great Video

      O really ? ... It's not like from the Factory right ? And and I thought they had to be metal-on-metal for grounding ? That's why I sanded off the paint in some spots

    • @endamahon8133
      @endamahon8133 2 года назад +3

      @@huracanian3051 Not sure about factory but comes recommended on most of the forums, the bracket is meant to act as a heatsink but the heat doesn't dissipate properly due to the temperature of the engine. The thermal compound improves the heat transfer and prolongs the life of the PTU. Some owners relocate the ptu completely.
      Enda

    Hey man, big fan. I am watching your rebuild and about 2 weeks behind with my own rebuild on my channel. I have a 91 TT, and I noticed that you are missing the aluminum timing belt shields, (one on the far left side and one on the far right). Both of these have bolts slightly behind the outer cam gears. I think you can still get to them with a wrench without tearing everything down. You might be planning to add them on later, (or eliminate them to add lightness) but wanted to call it out before you got too far.

    I know this is an older video but I’m doing my timing belt and I’ve seen videos of people turning the crank a quarter turn than putting the crank in time and all the marks should line up than turn your engine twice. Do you have to do that or can you turn the engine just twice? Sounds like a dumb question I just don’t wanna mess it up doing it. I guess I’m just wondering what the point is turning it a quarter and than putting it back in time than cranking it twice? Sorry for such a long comment.

    • @huracanian3051
      @huracanian3051  11 месяцев назад

      It's because the tensioner will push the crank about a quarter turn. So you want it backwards off time between 1 tooth and a half a tooth? Whatever your belt lines up with. Then once you release the tensioner pulley it pushes on the crank forward about a quarter tooth which would make everything in time. I did a video on it

    • @JasonBoggess
      @JasonBoggess 11 месяцев назад +1

      I mean like the guy quarter turn the crank on purpose before turning the engine twice and i don’t know why if everyone I’ve seen just turns the engine twice once they get the belt and timing correct.

    • @huracanian3051
      @huracanian3051  11 месяцев назад

      @@JasonBoggess yeah... you have to turn it over at least twice to make sure that the belt tensioner moves in and out and that doesn't jump a tooth
