Any sensible lawmaker will see that the law is full of loopholes. "...must not allow the presence of a live animal..." also goes for the presence of rats, the natural prey for Mickey. The reduction in health risks from rats getting into food storage far outweighs whatever risk any well-kept, working cat like Mickey pose to his/her immediate vicinity. Mitigating health risks which come from the presence of a cat is also easier and can be done much more effectively than controlling pests like rats or roaches. Okay now that we know how sensitive her allergies are, she herself showed me this news story, angry that someone would call in a complaint about this cat and that she thinks a cat like this, especially in this COVID/post-COVID world, is something that can bring a much more positive atmosphere to stores like this, and even said she believes that we could see less angry/aggressive customer interactions/confrontations if there was something like a cat or dog that can be emotionally therapeutic in such a hectic world. And if she would start to notice her eyes getting watery or feeling burn-y, or her nose running more or coughing more when she's shopping here or shortly after leaving, she would just go to a different store, because she wouldn't want her allergies or sensitivities to become everyone else's problems.
Unfortunately, I guess there will always be those people who just refuse to adapt to whatever limits they get handed in life, who refuse to "suffer alone," and make their problem become the responsibility of everyone else! He's probably good for their mental health! What's crazy is that we have two cat cafes in Vancouver where food and drink are served throughout the day, without any problems. How can that be allowed, but Mickey's not allowed in the store? I think there are bodega cats all throughout the world and you don't hear of people dropping dead because of it. As long as Mickey's happy and being treated well, and he's not peeing on the food, I don't see the problem here.
And don't you know the rodents will return and then the losers are the health department will be all over the store for that matter.
@@allthingsharbor Yup, you either have one cat or a bunch of mice and insects. This is the stupidity of a government that is so focused on laws they lose common sense.
@@allthingsharbor - So true!!
Ban the person who is not happy. We need Micky. He is cleaner than many who come there.
Unreal. That cat is more clean than the majority of people that shop there.
It’s ok to use deadly chemicals but not a cat that naturally keeps itself clean
I used to not be a cat person, until a stray cat came around for a long period and eventually came in house in the winter. First off, cats are very clean. Secondly, cats are great for getting rid of any mice. I vote for the cat staying and also I would shop at that store as well.
I'd love to see a picture of the person who filed the complaint about the cat. It's like when you pass an idiot in your car and have to see what the driver looks like.
Find out who the Karen is and ban them from the store permanently. See how she likes it. Watch her cry ,'but muh rites'.
This will be good especially if this their closest shop and they have to walk a few more blocks for the next one 😂
A cat is the most environmentally sound way to go vs chemicals, in pest control. I vote the cat stays👍😉
We had mouse problems when I was a kid. Then we got a cat. She passed away 20 years ago, but I guess some of her smell lives on, because the mice never returned.
@@thestomach Yes, we had super lazy cats that just wandered around the perimeter of our home, terrible hunters - but the mice never came near until they passed away.
That's an excellent point about chemicals. 'Keep the Cat'.
Keep the cat. Get rid of the bureaucrats.
@@smeggiamagarwine That’s reassuring to know. No matter what rodent repellant I’ve tried, I’ve been unable to get rid of a mouse, but now I have a cat so I’m hoping if nothing else, the cat smell will solve the problem
Wow this matter takes precedence over every other problem in my life right now.
They should put that cat on the payroll and now he has Employee rights. Cats are very clean animals and when he fixes a problem with rodents its a win win for everyone. I have a Tuxedo cat and I know how amazing they are.
The kitty has my vote to stay and be happy.
Keep Mickey at the store. He brings joy to people. He's not doing any harm to anyone. Nor is he a treat to the food in anyway. And a far better for pest control over chemicals any day !!! We're all behind you Mickey. We're all sending you our love as well. ❤️
Right? What did we ever do without poison to kill all the pests?
@@gutsfinky Good one . I like your answer.
@@WhiteStripesStripiestFan You tell them girl ! And there's a lot of us to back you up.
Leave the kitty alone. It is keeping rats and mice away! And providing humans with therapy.
Aw, leave the cat alone! Seems like someone is always crying about something! 🙄😑😠😾
The cat is actually doing well as pest control and the store didn’t have to use chemicals .
Amen. Didn't the ancient Egyptians begin to domesticate cats to protect grain stores?
Or glue traps, at least the cat gets it done quick unlike those
Moved out to a country house when I was 7 years old. The place always had a mouse problem. They would get into our food and we were constantly emptying traps. My mom came home with a cat one day and bam never saw another mouse in the house again. #KeepTheCat
Yeee cause cats urine have a scent that repel and scare off vermin. But once the kitties leave those stupid vermins come right back
My friend often has mice in his old apartment. I asked him to babysit my cat for 2 weeks while I was out of the city and he told me that my cat solved his mice problem!! And even after that 2 weeks, he hasn’t seen a mouse!
Have had cats for 40 years. Never see a rodent in my house except once in fall at the first freeze. It was laying on my pillow beside my face when I woke up. Yikes!
The mice smell the cat that live there, and realize it's dangerous. Cats are literally the best pest control.
@@gingw7333 I would personally have kept that mouse, they seemed rather sociable
Government: "Bad idea=cat.
Good idea=pesticides, glue traps and lots of inspections and more paperwork to ensure we have a job after we shut this store down."
The proper "people" have already been made aware of the situation and will be "taking care" of the caller.
Wait so the vancouver government refuses to deal with police stabbing substance abusers yet goes out of their way to remove a cat from a grocery store. How long is this incompetence going to plague us?
*As long as Truedop continues to hold on to the undeserving position of prime minister.*
Ikr? It’s ridiculous. The cat is doing a great job - and anyone who doesn’t like it can go shop somewhere else. Bunch of whiny crybabies in our society- imagine complaining about that!!
It’s easier. The other requires work.
Government loves to go after the low hanging fruit
@@bbajwa6116 omg SO TRUE !!
Shame on the miserable person who complained.. For 10 years the cat was there to help with a mouse problem, brighten most peoples day, and became a fixture of this grocery store.. It is a damn shame that one miserable person had to ruin it for everyone.🤬🤬🤬🤬
Naw fr. I hope that person gets jumped
They are the type of people i like to pick on lol
Yes, your adorable cat picture says it all.
The one that filed complaints:
"The cat took our jobs."
Believe me, I have a cat. And cats are clean. Someone reported it obviously.
I can't imagine how unhappy a person has to be to think that a cat in a store is a bad thing
Who said that someone is unhappy? I watched it again and didn’t hear anyone say they were unhappy with the cat there or said it was bad thing the cat was in the store. Didn’t you watch this video where the reporter said it’s the law, under the health inspection law. I love cats, dogs and all animals but it isn’t safe to have a domestic pet inside a grocery store. Fur sheds all over, people have bad allergies, also dander flies in the air and if the cat goes outside a lot, it could attract flees and flees will jump onto humans if they’re close by or just petting a cat. You don’t see many cats inside a store where food is sold. But no one said they’re unhappy.. Health inspectors are just doing their job for healthy and safety laws.
@@JMarieCAlove Someone filed a complaint.
A complaint isn’t something you file if you’re happy that there’s a cat in the store.
If you’re happy that the cat is in the store, you don’t take measures to have the cat REMOVED FROM THE STORE.
“I’m fine with the cat being here! That’s why I filed a complaint with the health department to have it taken away!” Is like saying “I LOVE being married to you! That’s why I’m divorcing you!”
I know boots taste good, but at some point you have to stop licking.
@@mc-rn8ro i think we know who filed the complaint.
Probably the kind of individual who gets old and hoards a bunch of cats.
@@mc-rn8ro but tell me what the complaint was for....
cat has to go but mice get to stay
Yeah a total joke.
I was thinking this too.
the prejudice is astounding
Trudeau’s health inspectors looking out for ya, what a joke.
@@mickeyandres2651 literally the kind of person to name drop Trudeau at any opportunity just to satisfy your tiny dicked hard-on of hate for him.
So health authorities have a problem with a cat,who controls rodents but not with a food store being invested with those rodents .Never expect government to actually think logically.
If the law is stupid it's time to change it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Please don't fire him, he deserves this job
That cat is happy there and is helping the community. His work gives him enrichment and keeps the community safe from diseases and pests. The law should have a provision for these cases.
