- Today we talk about the best ways to keep yourself alive in the early days of your Vintage Story journey.
We talk about what to look for in the wilderness for food.
How and what to hunt, as well as some cheesy ways to kill animals.
How best to store food so it lasts longer.
And how to put all those meats and veggies into a nice tasting stew for best results!
A few points... The cellar can be up to 7x7 not just 5x5. Some chickens do, in fact, fight back, but you'll barely notice it. If reeds are rare in your area, don't eat the roots. Leave the bottoms so the tops grow back. The best grain you can find for hunger is rice. When you go out scavenging only pick one or two plant types to harvest, for inventory space. You can always come back. Lastly, hunting is fine, but traps are better. A good trench, 2(down)x3(width) will trap anything, ready to be easily killed and harvested. Placed well, it also protects you from hostiles. As you don't need to immediately kill anything in a trench, it basically works as a fridge... lol
Some really great points - Thanks for the input and the support!
You can use bones instead of sticks to craft knives and axes with extra durability.
Oh wow thanks for this
Your energy reminds me of a friend from college that I miss dearly. Subbed.
I initially thought this looked like just another Minecraft clone.... Jesus was I wrong. Its beautiful, it's what Minecraft SHOULD have evolved into! Can't wait to start playing
same, just discovered this game and HOLY COW DUDE x'D
You do a good job with these videos. We can tell you enjoy the game. Good job!
Idk if you are still active on youtube and if your channel is still alive, but I loved watching this a lot!
Keep doing tutorials. It's great. How bout storage next?
Thanks for watching! Would you just be interested in all the ways to store things and how to craft them?
@@waddlesjr631 hey thxs for the reply. Whatever you think would be the next step in progression. Farming, prospecting, storage, forging, etc. There isn't much guides on vintage story so it would be nice to get more insight 👍
@@808gumby Sounds good! My plan is to just keep moving forward just like that. I'm thinking I'm going to slowly move down all of them (farming 101, mining 101, storage 101, etc) just to get all the basics out of the way before moving into the more intermediate stuff. New video will be dropping soonish!
@@waddlesjr631 what happened to these videos?
Pigs and Sheeps also easy killing - also in the very first days, I use a 3 blocks high ladder, its not minecraft, you can place also a ladder on flat ground everywhere. A pig/sheep can't climb a ladder, so you you didn't get hurt and you don't waste your armor-points. Climb your ladder on top, than kill your pig or sheep, you need 4 flint spear hits. For Hunting I take mostly 5-6 flint or obsidian-spears. Copper spears and later sword as a reserve / or copper spears and swords better against wolfes, drifters. Maybe ladder to easy and they should fix it, if you want get adrenalin don't use ladder :D
I can't hear past the keyboard...noise reduction, my dude. Enjoy this great game though - it's fantastic!
Just chomping on those onions... Are you Shrek? 😊 Tutorials are pretty helpful, I just got the game and this helps a lot thanks.
I do have many layers 🤔 lol
Thanks for watching!! Is there anything you’re struggling with you’d like to see a future video about?
Love these helpful vids! Really makes the game less scary
Happy they can help!! Thanks for the support, hoping to have some more out soon! :)
Anything in particular you’d like to see a tutorial on?
@@waddlesjr631 Farming would be nice to see. I get the jist of it, but fertalizer, seasons, making compost and controlling temperature of crops is beyond me o.o
Clay will be wasted if you're not precise with placement, and correcting the mistake will not give any clay back.
No need to waste knife durability on cutting the bottom of the cattails, you can use your hands (or other objects) to bash them for the cattail seeds.
One time I was starving and just hopped into a lake, hunted myself a fish, ate it raw and went to risk it all and try to hunt a goat
I basically saved myself because that was on plains
Fun fact the developer made all the ores melt at their real life melting temperature for example copper becomes molten at 1,085 degrees Celsius.
Little details makes a game so much better.
Use bones in place of sticks.
Awesome tutorial
Thank you! More coming down the pipeline as well! :)
Anything in particular you’re looking to learn about?
@@waddlesjr631 going from copper to bronze and further would be nice
bone have better durability and a better multiplier for the tool
