Vintage story's has some differing mechanics, but feels a lot like the creator was very familiar with the minecraft modding, both providing modding tools itself as well as having a lot of features as default that seem heavily inspired by popular minecraft mods, can't wait as it expands more 😊
man i feel like a kid all over again when i was so excited about the game i watched a begginer's guide before getting the game. the only difference now is that i'm a grown up and bought the game. i'm still as lost as when i was a kid tho... thanks for the tutorial ! i can't wait to finally launch the game
A couple things to note: when harvesting immature crops, you only have a small chance of getting any produce from the second to last stage of growth. You can, however, get seeds at a reduced rate from any stage of growth. You also no longer need a knife to harvest mushrooms since 1.16.
Just a little tip: When marking on the map, you can add the height level from the navigation window (middle number), like: "Copper @85". This can be very helpful, especially in caves, but also for things on steep mountains, which you can't see from ground level, like a self made one-block entrance down to a cave. ;)
I started the game and was hopelessly lost not having been a previous Minecraft player. So this tutorial was really great. I looked around for a lot of videos but you're the only one that gave a good straightforward early explanation. Thank you!
Yeah, I'm utterly unable to survive one day, but the game is very promising and I'll keep at it. I have no ambitions to finish the game, just to achieve a level of comfort.
these bit by bit handbook guides are REALLY helpful, you're a genuine hero. There are game mechanics and tricks i had no knowledge of. You help my gameplay a great deal!
I feel the most important tip would've been the contextual nature of the H key. When pressing it while hovering over an item it brings you to its page, same when looking at a block and pressing shift + H. Knowing that you can keep a lit torch stored and also use it to easily light up things such as the campfire, or other torches, is also very useful to know early on. The hotkey for swapping your secondary hand item is also kind of useful to know since it affects your hunger rate. When you mentioned the copper bits for the map I would've also made it clear that there's a proper copper vein spawning below those bits on the surface. Btw, do you know if it is possible to use the worldedit import & export function to instead work like a Schematica (MC mod) build guide for survival mode? Or if something like this is planned? Like for example building a house in your creative or another survival world, saving that as a schematic, and then in your survival world you import and place a ghost image of it which you can enable / disable to help you build that house legitimately by having it as a block guide. If you ever used Schematica you know what I mean. I think it even displayed the amount and type of blocks & items you need to finish it.
Just bought the game and have been eager to get started, but every time I try to craft anything I can't seem to drag anything into the crafting grid using my mouse is this a bug? Into elaborate there is no cursor icon entirely I'm just able to look around without being able to move the grid is there and everything just no cursor
I didn't know that you can use bones as handles for tools! I didn't even know tht you can break carcasses and get bones, why didn't I think of that? Lmao
i dont know if i should watch it becouse i am planning to make simlar mod or modpack and i dont want to uninentionaly borrow some ideas ;/ shame, but mod itself looks overall great ;)
First i want to say thank u for the video! Every VS video is important! But please please check the infos. You always get all drops from fully grown crops (besides the ananas bug). That wild crops have to be in the last three stages to get anything is not true. U get the "fruit" in the later stages yes, but you can get a random seeds from all other stages as well. I'm not sure if it makes sense to till wild crops! Is this confirmed? From experience I can say that it is more efficient to take all the wild crops and plant the seeds yourself! You dont need a knife for mushrooms. It even says that in the tooltip/handbook
It's the last 3 stages for a chance to get Everything (not anything). I also show that harvesting a very young crop might not give you Anything as well. When farming these rules change but this is wild crops.
@@MischiefofMice i just watched the scene again with subtitles and u said "its not in one of the last three stages of growth so you're not going to get ANYTHING from it"! I know that there are different rules for wild crops? what is your point? But your answer doesn't seem to fit my text at all. I'm sorry I wasted my time on constructive criticism.

It was created by a group of former Minecraft modders
Vintage Story started as a MC mod :P

Then came the rift mention in this video :D
Really feels like that old Minecraft mod, TerraFirmaCraft, pretty neat
I'm pretty sure Vintage story actually came off of Terrafirmacraft, so that make sense.
TFC is around on 1.18.2

I'm glad I watched this as you saved a lot of time with the knapping and it really helps, all the little tips to make life easier
wow, i didnt know about that waypoint macro thing, that is extremely interesting
Love this guide!

yes
Funny how everyone has their own experiences with this ‘style’ of game. For me, it was Better Than Wolves (the precursor to Better With Mods).
Thought this was a modded let's play lmao
Me too lol😂😂
The game is based on a couple Minecraft mods
I thought it was a modpack for minecraft. The player got me
I never knew this game had fish... They look like a way better source of protein then hunting.
They aren't as reliable. You can sometimes find them and then you get the one piece if you're lucky. It's more a nice thing to find.
@@MischiefofMice even if they aren't as good as i thought its still nice to know they even exist.
8:00 macro key?
Reminds me of that very in depth mod for minecraft I don't recall the name of at the moment!
terrafirmacraft?
@velocityraptor2890 yes thank you
pretty sure "Sat" is short for satiation not saturation
Bruh... I thought this was a Minecraft modpack with some dope shaders

Here we go 🍿
Did the guys who made terrafirmacraft make this game?
No

Bought this today on HB. Wish I could refund. What a terrible tutorial in the game. Waste of $25.
Ask for a refund then. No need to complain here.
