STOP DYING! How to HUNT in Vintage Story | BEGINNERS GUIDE 2024 |
My previous tutorial can be found here: ruclips.net/video/9B5pmVBfCE8/видео.html
Let's talk about the DO's and DO NOT's when it comes to hunting in Vintage Story!
Corrections to the video:
1. @yalkn2073You pointed out that you do not spawn directly at the equator, but rather between the equator and the north pole. It is still a temporate climate.
2. @daisukekage3053 pointed out that you can craft a simple bow prior to reaching to copper age! You can craft it using flax and sticks.
00:00 - What You Need to Know
00:30 - Climates
00:57 - Equipment You’ll Need
04:50 - Passive Animals
06:50 - Neutral Animals
08:30 - Apex Predators!
10:07 - Useful Animals Drops
12:20 - Cooking Hearty Meals

Today we're going to go over everything that you need in order to survive your first day!
Thanks for the video, I just picked the game up and I wanted to say i appreciate the tips :) I love building and exploring in games like Valheim, Minecraft and Enshrouded, this looks even more in depth, excited to hop on. Cheers again on the great video!
Few mistakes in this video
This is the best beginners guide for this game, a lot of people just assume your know the basics so they skip all this but this video helps so much.
Chop chop vintage boy, I need more tips
Where’s the next video?
guides ruin the fun and longevity of any kind of game. just my opinion. it's like spoiling the destination to Christopher Columbus
Bro , hands down you a sick voice !
One note. Deer absolutely will fight back if you corner them, and they hit hard. My second death in my world was by a deer
I had no idea! That is very good to know, thank you!
dude, this video is awesome. I appreciate your humor and how to the point you are. Subscribed and wishing you many more subscribers!
Thank you!🙏
Thank God someone who understands
the pot of food, but I wonder...I bet...having cabbage in it, with perhaps some berries, to get 3 food groups covered is ideal, no? and of course cabbage giving more satiation.
13:40 Is that Digimon World music? I notice you also had other game music too.
It is! One of my favorite soundtracks. Most of the other music is Maplestory music.
Great video! Please make more :D
Well good sir, I would like one ticket to you talking about food, cooking and preservation please
If... if you're near the equator, you'll be in the torrid zone. Not the temperate zone. It'll be super hot and get colder in both directions. You're thinking of like, a eurocentric latitude?
Upon further investigation you are correct. For what it’s worth I’ve also learned you actually spawn north of the equator in Vintage Story, so temperate still works but not for the reasons I stated. 😂 I’m a programmer not a climatologist! 🤷♂️
I love the universal moment of fear when you see a bear in this game.
Is the clay video still on hold? I couldn't find it in the playlist thingy
Yeah, life got busy. Itll be coming soon!
Great tutorial! This makes me tempted to get the game. Looks like a lot of fun. I love the nutrition feature. In Minecraft and Palworld I just eat one source of food which is incredibly boring and easy.
Your energy reminds me of a friend from college that I miss dearly. Subbed.
Mushrooms count as a vegetable for storage, but does it count for traps?
The temperate zone is actually north and south of the equator, the equator is actually the tropics and jungles.
more.....more......MORE VIDEOS!!!! please and thank you :)
well made vid, looking forward to the next
where part 2 i no see, new to the game and this was a very well made guide thank you
I thought Vintage Story was like a full conversion modpack for Minecraft but it's it's own thing it seems. I feel like someone was fed up with Minecraft and made a game with a LOT more depth. making what Minecraft could have been. Also totally unscripted bear lol.
bone have better durability and a better multiplier for the tool
Nice video! About to attempt to survive my first day lol
Good luck!
This tutorial is too confusing
Thanks for the feedback! What makes it confusing for you?
@@waddlesjr631what does "map with it" means with flint?
@@waddlesjr631also how do you see recipes?
Ah, yes you are correct! I was saying “knap”, which is the act of shaping flint and other hard rocks.
Pressing the ‘H’ key will bring up the survival handbook! It will have recipes for everything. It’s a nice reference, but can also be a bit overwhelming, not always structured the best.
I subbed because you seem smart and i like your voice. I'm 28 seconds in. I think i have a problem. Anyway, *subbed*
Thanks so much! I reaalllly hate my voice so I’m glad at least someone enjoys it! 😅
@@waddlesjr631 all about perspective brotha 🤙🏻
more
You got it!
Digimon world is one of my favorite games!
It’s a great game that deserves more recognition! There’s a charm about it that not many games can match, and the music is 🔥
I've heard of Vintage Story a short while ago and was on the fence of getting it. Someone said it is unforgiving which has me hesitant. But after watching your video however, I think I'll pick it up. Thanks for that!
It’s definitely a tough game, it’s not afraid to kill you. But it’s never felt unfair to me. It can be overwhelming at first, and it makes you work for everything. But because of that, when you do accomplish something it feels VERY rewarding! Glad my video could help, more to come! Hope you enjoy VS!
Super helpful and entertaining! Thanks!!
Glad you enjoyed it - Thanks for the support!
Perfect amount of info greatly delivered and paced. Thank you!
Glad it was helpful!
Very entertaining and well crafted info video, but there are two big pieces of mis-info ... 1) The equator is the name used in game for the hot zone furthest to the south in the world. The "polar equator distance" in the world settings is the measurement between the hottest and coldest points of climate, not the temperate middle zone. 2) Not mentioning bone axes. The extra durability from bone axes makes them a lot more useful than wood ones, and they end up being the primary wood chopping tool in early game when flint stockpiles may be low.
Hey! I know this is three years later But I wanted to let you know how helpful your video was. Thanks for all of the screenshots as well
You’re very welcome! I know it’s not exactly 1:1 with how current day Vjntage Story works but I’m glad it was enough to get you going!
Is that Maplestory I hear?
That’s right! I wondered if anyone would be familiar, I’ve got a few Maplestory themes I like to throw in!
One tip that my friend and i discovered is if you are getting chased by a brown or black bear. Turn around and throw 2-3 spears at it. This will cause the bear to run away for a short time, giving you a chance to escape. However if you stick around he will come back to fight you. We actually use this method to hunt them in the early game.
Good callout - Do you hunt together or solo?
@waddlesjr631 usually together but it can be done solo with a little practice
Nice video, thanks for making VS content. I wish VS spawned closer to the equator. It's nice and warm at the VS equator and not 5 months of snow. Be careful about your mods when you are talking about taming. That doesn't exist yet in vanilla.
Oh, damn. For some reason I could’ve sworn taming was in vanilla these days! I’ll add an update, thank you!
Actually you can domesticate sheep, goat, pigs and chickens but you can't tame wolves
Just came across this video while thinking about buying Vintage Story. You swayed me into getting it. This account and video deserves more love!!
Thank you! Hope you enjoy, I’ve got more tutorials to come!
So old traps don't work anymore do they?
Good info. Subbed!
Thank you!
Great guide for new players. Thanks!
Thanks for watching - Happy to help!
Thanks for the tips! I am just getting into this awesome game now. I thought you'd have more subs by how good the video was. Cheers man
Thanks for the support - We’re moving up slowly but surely!
Cool tutorial :)) One error i noticed though is that you said without the hunter class a bow can only be obtained in bronze age - that's not true though since the first basic bow not tied to a class can be crafted with just sticks and flax twine which can be obtained even before copper age.
Oh, good catch! There's so much to this game I forget about some things - I'll add it to the description.
Going to the south would be getting nearer to the equator. Players spawn in the middle of equator and the north pole
Noted and added as a correction in the description
I thought this was Minecraft
It’s Minecraft on steroids!
On Earth, the further south you go, it also gets colder... great vid though!
😂 Fair point, it’ll get warmer for a bit though! Lol
Hottest at the equator as well haha
Great guide. Thanks! Couldnt seem to find the surviving your 2nd day video tho.
Thanks! I’m still working on surviving your second day, it got a bit larger than I anticipated so I’ve decided to make a few other tutorials in between its release to help supplement.
Whoops, I forgot about Bighorn sheep! They’re like deer but instead of running they impale you repeatedly. Still less terrifying than Foxes.
also bone handle for the axe.
@@ijkdenemOh wow, I never realized! I remember trying it with a spear once and it didn’t work so I assumed it was knife only. Thanks for the info!
@@waddlesjr631 from all of the videos i have seen it only works for knife and axe handles so it is easy to miss.
