* DEER HUNTING DURING A HURRICANE * Saddle Hunting in Florida

- The hurricane ended up causing a drop in temperatures, which was good for deer movement. So we went hunting with our native Florida friend, Ryan, on some private land and I filled my first Florida deer tag with my bow from a saddle.. but the shot was not ideal. I'm thankful we were able to recover the deer without any issues.
My heart goes out to all of those affected by hurricane Ian. To donate, visit:

Thanks for sharing your videos with us. I came across your channel at the end of last year in autoplay mode. I am very glad I subscribed and truly enjoy your content. Thanks so much for your efforts. One big reason I like your stuff is that you keep in real and down to earth, sharing the whole story, good or bad. :) Good luck in 2022!!
Thanks for watching. Much appreciated!
Pro tip on sealing. If you wrap the cut in cling wrap and THEN seal it, it will keep almost twice as long in the freezer. Learned that working with a wild game butcher in MT. I enjoy your videos. You remind me of my daughter and I miss her very much. Keep doing what you do!
Thanks for the feedback Stan!
OMG, when I saw that tree you climbed I literally went "oh sh*t". Wow. Yeah, you are lucky you didn't end up in the hospital on that one. Congrats on the Doe. I hate that feeling when you see the arrow with green on it.
Ya, bad move on my part!!
Great job Allie! It's really nice when everything comes together like that. Congratulations on the Florida deer! Interesting rabbits!
Thanks James. I love the rabbits!
Hey Allie, congratulations on your first Florida deer. Also, glad you recovered her. Don't forget what I've been asking you
Glad you are feeling better and the storm bypassed your home. Congratulations on the upcoming book.🙌
Thanks Phil!
Awesome video Allie ' I enjoyed it so much and i am glad y'all are alright.Hope you have a great Week.
Thanks Jimmy 👍
Well done, congrats on your 1st in Florida and on the recovery! Cheers.
Thank you!
Hell yeah! Always about to be a good time when you upload!!
Thanks for watching Hubert!
Congrats guys! Looks like y’all set up with more cover this time and it paid off! I’m sure Allie made an excellent shot, but the wind probably just pushed it. Glad y’all found it and made a great memory together!
Definitely more cover! Thanks Franky!
Awesome video, glad you got a shot and recovered it. Looks like a great adventure! I was visiting Delrey during Hurricane Ian. It was quite the experience.
Thanks for watching!!
Congrats on your 1st Florida Deer!!
Thanks Randy!
I look forward to the cookbook. Congratulations on the deer.
Thanks Leigh!
Glad that you guys are ok & have not suffered major property damage.
Heartwarming to see how happy you are!
Thank you!
You are a very blessed young lady I'm praying that you understand your success Cause it is really cool to see Not a lot of people on the shoulders know that feeling I throw that your head when you hit her back that sucks I know exactly know exactly how you feel anyway God-bless you and I hope you live up to hurricanes down there
Way to go! Just getting back online but no power. Helping buddy that lives by Sanibel.
Complete disaster. So much work ahead.
Big congratulations.
Ugh. I'm sorry to hear that.
I've lived for 12 years in Florida before moving back to central western PA. Hurricanes seem to have gotten stronger than I remember. I've never hunted deer in Florida but would love the opportunity before I'm too old. Congratulations on your first Florida Deer.
Thanks for watching Leland!
Congrats Allie💞Glad your feeling much better :)
Much better. Thank you.
Good job on recovering her and processing her. I have been blessed that i have not had a gut shot to date. That being said I’ve only harvested about 5 deer in my short time of hunting. I like that you shared for educational purposes for if/when it happens.
Thanks for watching!! Much appreciated.
Glad you are getting better. Congrats on your first Florida deer. I harvested and elk in Colorado and it is now all vacuum sealed and in the freezer that's the only way to go.
Congrats on the elk!
My Granny's cure for poison ivy and poison oak...
Get Cream of Tartar out of your spice rack. Pour about a tablespoon into a small container and add water to make a paste. Smear that paste on your affected areas before bedtime, then go to sleep. In the morning, the rash will be dried up and then stay dry and and away from the "Stuff"!
Congratulations on recovering the doe and filling your freezer with some healthy goodness and lasting memories!
Thanks Bud 👍
well done! I bought a chamber vacuum sealer a few years back. Best thing I ever did! That thing is amazing!!!
Absolutely.
Glad the storm passed you by for the most part. Poison Oak/Sumac/Ivy can be a pain. If you know you have come in contact with the stuff, there's a common plant that grows in wet, sandy soil called Jewelweed, or Spotted Touch Me Not that when crushed, and the resulting juice applied to the areas that came in to contact with the irritant, will keep it from taking, for lack of a better term. This must be done before the rash crops up. Congratulations on the deer.
Thanks George!
Allie, a PA boy here. Glad you seem all healed up and settled in FL. Congrats on 1st Fl deer during hurricane Ian. Would have liked to see your version of cutting up the hind quarter. Also been thinking of getting a chamber vac. Thx for the review. Btw, loved your hair in the vacuum segment. Keep up the good work!
Video on the hind quarter is in the works!!
Congratulations, glad you were spared the fuery of the hurricane. I'm currently processing my own archery deer harvested on the first day of our VT season.
Congrats!
Great video, glad you guys are safe.
Thanks Richie 👍
Welcome to Florida, Allie!
Thanks Adam 👍
Great video. Keep them coming.
We will! Thanks for watching!
Glad you guys did well and the storm didn.t hit you hard. I put my Deer in a cooler and ice it down with about a box of salt. I drain it once a day and add ice. this soaks the blood out of the meat and makes it tender. I soak it about three days doing this.
🤮
Yeah agree, not the most optimal shot. Die die easier than bucks in less yardage. Your team played it well. There is no “wait until tomorrow “ in our 95 degree heat. You put the boot leather down with or without dogs and are forced to find it quickly or it spoils in a few hours. No choice. More dogs the better to run it and circle it etc to find it dead or alive.
Congrats on the deer. Looks like timing the wind while shooting tricked ya just enough. Glad y'all found her. I'm also glad your area was spared from Ian. It's landfall here in S.C. was 30 miles north of me, so we got lucky too. Just a bunch of Cat 1 wind, 6" rain, and a crap load of debris. Looking forward to the next hunt. The rut's right around the corner...Game On!!
Good luck this year!
good job , i missed 3 does during the hurricane barely had white hair and a tiny drop of blood on one arrow before i noticed my arrow rest was broken guess i smacked it pulling it up one doe walked under me while i was climbing and i got in a hurry to get my bow up before she got too far away , don't pay to rush thanks FB
That’s great, love the dog too
Thanks Fred!
Congratulations Allie nice hunt
Thanks Juilio!
Congratulations on the doe. Definitely looking forward to the cook book.
Thanks Ryan!
Take a cup of oatmeal and put it in an old sock and tie it off. Take a hot bath and scratch the heck out of it with the sock. The milky oatmeal soaks into the open pores in your skin and will dry it out faster than just dealing with it. They make poison oak soap as well and Technu works pretty good as well. If yiu have manzanita bushes in your area, make a tea out of the pink flowers and/or put it in a spray bottle. The manzanita is an old fire fighter trick that helps relieve the itch. Good luck.
Thanks for the tip!
Awsome video , glad yall made it safe.. enjoyed watching..
Glad you enjoyed it Derek!
Nicely Done!!
I hope you guys were spared the power loss, & storm surge flooding!!!
Some places I’ve been to around the Fort Myers area, were either damaged, destroyed, or are just plain gone. 😥
All of Florida is in our thoughts & prayers!!!
Was at the Edison/Ford museum just 2 years ago!
We got lucky. I know it isn't a good situation in many places.
@@OutdoorsAllie Relatives from Fort Myers, returned home to no power, no water, & no way to clean up, along with a nasty dead fish smell in the air, so after cleaning out their fridge, they left again, to go stay with friends. They too were lucky. Only lost some things in a storage pod that got partially flooded, after their move a few months ago.
Good afternoon from Syracuse NY everyone
@earl shaner Good afternoon from Albuquerque, New Mexico ✌
From NJ Good Afternoon! Happy hunting!
Hi my friends
Good afternoon from Florida!
Congratulations on all your successes 😊
Thanks Ed!
Thanks so much for these videos Allie. I'm from Ireland and I don't know a single bow hunter, it's illegal here unfortunately. But I'm going to Latvia for my second bowhunt in Janurary and I'm learning so much from you and Nick!
Dang. Well thanks for watching Darragh!
And good luck!
Love it!!!!,,,another great vid
Glad you enjoyed it!
Dawn dish soap it helps remove the oils let it lather up rinse 3 to 4 times.
Great video congrats on the deer glad you guys are safe definitely some bad weather down there
Thanks for watching Bob!
Tea tree oil will soothe the itch. Just got over it myself. Works wonders
Congrats on a great hunt. Stay safe
Thanks Steve!
The reason it's so hard for anyone to get ride of poison ivy or oak. All soaps and shampoos have something in them to not dry out your skin. So the old calamine lotion trick doesn't even touch your skin.
To get old school soap you have to buy it from a pharmacy area. One of the brands I use is lever 2000. Good luck.
Enjoyed the video and do not take those storms lightly we had ours here in louisiana last year. Congrats on the deer there as well 👍
Thanks Paul 👍
Looking forward to the cookbook! I see there's no poison ivy on your tree. I bet you won't make that mistake again! Congrats on the deer!
No thank you
Thanks Duane!
Congratulations on nice doe , terrain reminds me of back in sixties hunt around Ocala and Orange Lake with my granddad. Bass fishing and turkey hunting was super then.
Thanks for watching Robert!
Nice job and congratulations.
Thanks David!
Hey Allie, the best product I found for removing the poison oak/sumac/ivy oil from my hunting gear is Tenchu. you can find it at CVS. it is in a white bottle. I just have my wife put it in the wash by itself and put a cap full of it with my hutning clothes. Then you can mix it with water and spray down all your gear with it. Works great. Glad to see you healing up. Get better!
Thanks for the feedback!
There's some stuff at Walmart it's super expensive in my book but works really good it's 40 dollars or so for a little bitty tube of it I'll try to look up the name of it and send you another message it works great on the poison oak and ivy just go by the directions on the bottle and it's always cleared me up pretty good
Go to Wal-Mart to the pharmacy and ask for the oatmeal bath and ivy rest go home put 1 cup of bleach in a bath and sit in it put the water all over you use the oatmeal bath get out dry off and use the ivy rest I get it bad every year and this is what I do it'll be gone in 2 to 3 days
The cookbook is a very good idea. Sorry if you have spoken of it before.
Very excited about it!
Congrats on the doe! Great video!
Thanks Steve 👍
Congratulations on the doe very nice your as crazy as I am love it keep it up
Thanks Howard!
Technu and mugwort soap. You can handle gear that has urishol oils on it, just technu or dawn soap after handling and scrubbing. Experience of a California wildlife biologist and hunter
They shut all of our WMA here Tuesday at 5 before Ian and praying it opens by this weekend. I’m hearing oct 5 for opening 3 lakes
Hopefully it opens soon!
I really enjoy your videos. One thing I’ve noticed you bring up in several was not being able to draw as much weight as you’d like. I’m a small guy and have the same issue. One thing that really helped me was watching Chris Bee’s videos on how to draw a bow. I easily added 10 pounds by changing to his method. I used to draw the way you do.
Thanks for the feedback Josh!
Chris Bee is a very small guy too, isn’t he?
Too bad about them poison ivy but I'm glad you all are ok from the hurricane and congratulations on your first deer tag
Thanks Ronnie!
I use a small computer fan on the inside of my cooler, it helps to move the cool air around the meat..
Just a small Tip.
Congrats on the deer, so happy for you.
Not a bad idea!
@@OutdoorsAllie I'm smart like that. Lol
Congrats on earning that deer, the weather and the shot placement made it hard but you toughed it out
The tree was shaking, thats for sure!
Saw that vine in your earlyer vidio good luck
Scrunch up Burdock, big leaf that looks like rhubarb. It grows Canada all over the place. Rub it on the rash. It will go away in a few days.
incredible Allie.
Thanks Jon!
Don't know if it was you, but I was coming down I75 in Macon ga today and I saw a 4wheel drive van going south. I couldn't help but think about your adventures.
Not us. Thanks for watching Carl!!
Love your videos I subscribed
Awesome. Thank you!!
Good job .congratulations.
Thank you!
I’ve heard to use the dawn dish soap on yourself as well!
I've been dying to bowhunt the rut here in central FL and all the wmas are closed... suuuuuuucks.
Congrats on getting it done FL style
Oh no!
Aloha & Safe Hunting you Floridian you !…🤙🏽
Aloha!
I just got my power back on after 5 day's in a hotel. Lost my Carport and busted up my new truck. I live just North of Plant City FL. Lucked out and got the Last room across from the Fairgrounds in Tampa at the Red Roof Inn. It could be way more worse! I pray for the folks down in Fort Myers who are suffering.
Yikes. Glad to hear you are ok!
Allie, I have watched your videos for a while now, you have a lot of males on the line sniffing, not your fault, I'm old enough to be your
grandfather and watch you for a different reason. You are a great hunter! I like the way you do it too! When your practiced like you are
for almost anything (except poison ivy) you will become a Great hunter! Thanks
Great content
Thanks Mike!
BEAUTIFUL DOE GOOD JOB GIRL
Happy for you. You are ana amazing woman!!
Hey Allie, I have to finish my comment.
Don't forget what I have been asking about your cookbook. I want to be one of the first to buy it and you have to sign it for me. Hopefully this year I can get out and try to get myself a deer. Been 10 years since I've been out because of my back. If I do it will be on the ground. No more trees for me. Best of luck this deer season south and north. Take care and be safe.
👍 👍
Hey to clean your gear use dawn dish soap it will help remove the oily sap that makes you break out poison ivy don’t effect me I actually sit in a tree in a spot that has it because the deer feed on the vine
Good one!
Thanks Robert!
Congrats on your tag fill! Sorry to hear you got into the poison 🙄 Great video.😁😁👍
Thanks for watching!!
Congrats
@10:50 If you don't send this video to "Scent-A-Way" as a major marketing tool, you're missing out. It eliminated scent in literal hurricane winds. I demand a discount code from them lol
LOL
I highly recommend Jewlweed salve for the poison Ivy rash. I too get it horribly and it has been my only saving grace even with the steroids I would still suffer for weeks.
Key is to wash and scrub everything that could have the oils on them.
Thanks for the feedback Ryan!
Skip the pharmacy and go to your dr. They can give you a shot that gets rid of poison ivy much fast. Great video, aim small miss small and using that front leg to orient your shot can help with those type hits. Great work on he recovery!
I got a couple shots! Finally healed up.
Good deal Lucille but I have found when it's bad weather they do move more 🐝👍
Very true!
Hey Allie I got something for you to try, marinate turkey breast, pork and even chicken in Italian dressing for 24 hours then throw it on the grill. I’m not kidding, I gave this to Fred Eichler a few years ago when his wife was writing a cookbook. He took it and ran with it, but at least he said thank you! Great job on filling your tag and glad your ivy is going away! Thanks for your channel!
Try that with roasted red bell pepper blended with italian
Thanks for watching Bruce!!
Welcome to the South! Never ever climb a tree with a vine on it in the south!! Sooo sorry you have to go through it.
Won't be doing that again!
Congratulations.
Thank you!
Congratulations 👏👏
Thanks Norbert!
When dealing with poison ivy on your person always use cold water hot water opens your pours not sure if it does the same with other materials
If you open pours the oil will penetrate deep so cold water works best advice a 68 year old person can pass on
Benedryl and ocean water helps a lot
Question about scouting. How far do you walk to scout? The place I hunt I would walk further but run into super thick unworkable patches
Depends on the area. That super thick stuff is most likely where the deer are hanging out!
When I was watching the other video when you climbed that tree I was thinking to myself, that looks like poison oak she just climbed through and then once you said you got it I was like yet sure was, I’m sure that really sucked but congrats on getting a deer!!
Ya, pretty brutal! Thanks Moses.
Wow I never new that about rabbits
Congrats on your deer. Good meat for the freezer.
Thanks Pamela 👍
Way to go!
Thanks Matt!
