Pennsylvania Bear Hunting * SUCCESS * Bow Hunting Public Land

- My first time on a successful black bear hunt.. and wow. That was intense. Nick filled his black bear tag with his bow in Pennsylvania. It was big and fat, the two of us couldn't drag it out. So we had to pack it out. He shot the bear with his bow on public land.

Thought I'd share this with everyone. We received data from the biologist. This bear was estimated to be 7 years and 10 months old. Thanks for watching!
As someone who hunts with my wife, there is no greater feeling than seeing their success. I get more satisfaction out of watching her harvest an animal than I do doing it myself. It was easy to see how happy you were for him. You had tears in your eyes when you heard the death moan and excitement in your voice when he came to get you. There is nothing greater than enjoying God's country with the ones you love....from a fellow southwestern Pa hunter.......Awesome Job, Love the videos, keep up the good work
Thanks Chris!! I agree 100%
“So boring and so exciting all at the same time”, that about sums up hunting. I love it!
LOL for sure.
First day of Pa rifle Bear Season and I was reading a PA Game News, of course it was a bear hunting article. I read that the majority of Bears are harvested by 10AM on the first day. I looked at my watch and it read 10:05AM. I looked up the hill and saw a bear coming down the steep hill right to me. Bear #1 at 20 yards. Three years later on another first day of Bear rifle Season. I read that the chances of harvesting a second Pa Bear are increased by 50% better than a hunter who never harvested a bear. I found a one-acre thick jungle in the middle of a huge very open forest. I said to myself "I'll let the other hunters chase any bears from the open woods into this thick stuff. At 2PM I heard sticks cracking and saw Bear #2 at 10 yards. Nick, get ready for your next bear and Allie pack in a Pa Game News on your next hunting adventure. Excellent video!!!!!
Thanks for sharing Freddie! Cool story! That was actually his 2nd.
Wow what an incredible hunt 👏 as a fellow pa bowhunter looking for my first archery bear I was really impressed and learned a ton from watching your hunt and processing! Congrats! Workin stiffs outdoors
Thanks Bryan. Glad you enjoyed it!
Great video! I remember my first bear and I had the same overwhelming emotions Nick did. Congratulations!
Thanks for watching Scott. Much appreciated!
🤠
Great video and it was worth well watching and Yes I enjoyed it too. Can't wait for the next video to pop up and I know that one will be great too.
Awesome video Allie and Nick!!! Congrats Nick well done!!
Thanks John!
Thanks your for an awesome video Allie. Congratulations on your new abode in Fla. I lived in Orlando for 12 years in my youth. Hope you'll return to PA this fall and hunt. Best of luck to you and yours.
Will do! Thanks for watching Leland!
Nice job guys! Always fun to see your videos! 😊
Thanks so much! 😊
Congratulations!!! Great job both of you. Nothing like a pack out. I keep a complete pack out bag set up with everything I need ready to go all the time. Definitely need it when hunting hilly terrain. Hope you do some videos on the uses for the bear fat and cooking the meat. I have never eaten bear, on the to do list…
Bear fat is excellent fuel for oil lanterns and camping stoves. You can make a 2 - 4 year supply with a small black bear. Bear fat tends to absorb the flavor of what they eat more so than other animals. Especially in the fall when black beans gorge on blueberries, that fat is awesome cooking or making soap. It's a hot commodity in some states. I've had pastry chefs buy jars from me to put on their crusts. Its uses are endless. I too am curious what Ms. Allie uses it for.
We have been using it to cook! Very tasty.
Bear is delicious
Very cool video. Congratulations!! Love learning from different folks. Thanks for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
I tagged along with my dad to Pennsylvania hunting when I was a young kid back in the 1960s. PA hunting season has a certain aura about it.Its called magic in the air.Yea 😅😂😂
For sure!!
Allie, do a video on setting up your tree stand, what to look for etc. All your components and different kinds????
Thanks Mike
Thanks for the idea Mike!
This was awesome!! Please video some bear recipes. I really like that vacuum sealer. Congrats Nick!! Those angles are the toughest shot. 👍🏹
Thanks for watching Eric!
Hey I want to ask you a question. How do you upload a picture on the RUclips section? Because you only see a large letter j
Very nice. Congratulations Nick! It is always fun trailing a night. I never trailed a bear though. Good job packing it out as well. Great video!
Thanks James!
Nice job you two. Very fun to watch. I hunt with my wife as of a couple years ago and we are loving it. A couple that hunts together…………Good for life!!!
Absolutely. Thanks for watching Shane!
I love your videos allowing me to join you in your hunts! Just living the dream!
Glad you enjoyed it William!
I love your channel so much Allie!
Thank you Marlon!
We hunt in PA and WV where you can’t bait bears as well, so I know the excitement that came with this hunt. Really enjoyed it, my first video of yours that I’ve watched, I saw you on the Huntr podcast and decided to check it out. Gained a sub.
It was an exciting hunt for sure. Thanks for watching!! Much appreciated.
Just found the channel after hearing you guys on the east meets west Podcast. Awesome channel and congrats Nick on a great bear! The gear junky in me has to ask what back pack that was you used! I need one like that!
Thanks for watching Anthony. Beau runs a great podcast! The pack is a Mystery Ranch Pop Up 28. Really nice pack so far!
That's cool the Game Commision allows hunters to pack them out .I haven't been bear hunting for years and didn't even know we was allowed to pack them out .I would see some huge bears at the check stations and always wondered how they got a huge bear out of the woods without packing lol. Congratulations Nick and awesome video !
Yes, they allow it. Thanks for watching!
Even if they don't allow it pack it out. Yoy don't wana be tired snd beat in bear country. Just make sure u save absolutely everything
Virginia tags have a triangle you cut out, and then after you check it in online you write the confirmation number down. Haven't had to put a tag on an animal for several years now
Congrats Nick, great vid!
Thanks for watching Scott!
I'm loving it! Congratulations on that bear! You guys make a great team.
Thank you!
great job on the harvest guys
Ohhh….I missed this one. Great video. Nice..! I was out this morning for a few hours in VA,….and wouldn’t you know,….a nice black bear came marching past me, but the season is closed until the 27th. Ugh!
Dang!!
In Pennsylvania you MUST make time for the rut!!cool video
Awesome video allie, I've been looking forward to the story behind this one, one question tho, that night did u guys just have the meat hanging outside I guess?
Yes, we hung it outside.
Nice job Nick! Good to see you in front of the camera for a change!
Thanks Christian. Glad you liked it!
Nice Video. Great hunt. Just picked you up, got my own bear in NY this year 2022, took me 45 years but finally got it done. Hoping for a PA bear this year as well.
Thanks for watching, and good luck this year!!
Congratulations Allie.
That's awesome! I'm just like you and get excited thinking about all the good food I can make. Food at heart lol.
For sure!
I love your channel first and foremost. I loved this video of your husband shooting his first bear. Also loved the video of when you went to the kinzua sky Bridge. I belonged to a deer camp up in mckean county in smethport. I can relate to the bigwoods hunting and your bringing back that excitement of hunting back to me since I lost my one buddy due to heartattack 2 years ago. Keep up good work and you will always have support from me.in your hinting adventures
Thanks for watching Robert. Much appreciated!
so what did you do about the check in station? I was always under the assumption you had to keep the bear only field dressed before taking to the check in station in PA
They came to our location to pull a tooth, take measurements, etc.
That's was very interesting ! Congratulations on the Bear. Enjoyed watching
Glad you enjoyed it.
Hey Allie, I seen the stove towards the end of the video and said, "dinner time" Congratulations Nick
nice bear. I felt bad for you when the bear cried out. It's nice to have something different in the freezer.
Congratulations again.
Thanks Scott 👍
Congratulations ! Nice one .
I have so many questions about how this went down. My goal this year is to get a PA bear, especially would be sweet to get one with my bow. Thanks for sharing.
A lot of luck, scouting, and time spent in the woods!
Congratulations to Nick. Enjoyed the video.
Glad you enjoyed it!
Nice! Congrats!
Love your videos and all the time and work you nick put into your hunts. But I feel that you guys should try and capture the shots on camera
Thanks for the feedback!
Best kind of hunting trip, outdoors Allie thank you.
Thanks for watching!
Congratulations! Nice job and nice bear!
Thanks for watching!
I have an odd question for you..When you are hunting in super cold weather (below freezing) does your nose ring coz irritation or like runny nose..and possibly frostbite issues in worse conditions ? I'm asking as both a concern and for your comfort becoz cold metal against skin can be a problem. Just subbed and like the content!
No it doesn't, but I ended up taking it out.
@@OutdoorsAllie I think it looks fine..but in the woods, anything can grab at it and weather issues etc..Thanks.. I am a life long bowhunter who is now not so mobile as I was 50 years ago..but, wish i could had shared my journey on video as you and your guy have been doing. Keep up the great work!
Enjoyed your video and hunt. Keep up the good videos.
Thanks Billy!
Use the lard to lube your muzzleloaders and cooking. I use Crisco on my smokepole. Seasons it like an iron skillet.
I use it for cooking quite often!
@@OutdoorsAllie I've never bagged a bear. Never saw a live bear. I hunt in bear country. I've been at this since I was 12. I'm 55 now.
you two are awesome 🤗
Hey great video.... weights can look alot more i had one that I thought was 300 but was like 190....never the less great hunt good luck this year
Thanks Dan 👍 You as well
Awesome share, nice going Nick...Not many people can say they shot a bear without bait or dogs. Make sure you show us what you do with the bear fat.
Will do!
Congrats Nick ion a nice bear. I remember when I arrowed my first bear, wasn’t sure I wanted to get out of the stand right away!! Also they drag like a big bag of jello!
Ya, they're brutal to drag!
Good size eating bear for sure! Got a 120lb and 200lb bear this year and it tastes great!
Yeah that was a steep straight down shot, and believe it or not, since we hardly ever practice that shot, makes it very unsure to execute. I always tell myself every year i'm going to practice close shots, and from elevation. But as soon as I get to the club, that 100 yard field target is a magnet.
Great content once again. Funny thing is, i'm here is Delray Beach, and take two younger guys bow hunting with me,both from PA. lol All PA musta moved to Florida during Covid I guess ?
True. Thanks for watching Mike! FL is a great place to be!
That’s awesome! Go Nick! What were the initial reactions and emotions we seen after the shot was taken?
Thank you. Very excited!
Allie, which sealer is this, the UV20 or UV32?
Both are out of stock but we will order and wait
The UV32, and I freaking love it!
Also, I have a 10% off code if you're interested.

Thanks for watching Jennifer! Have a great night.
At 20:36 whats that tattoo mean on his finger if you dont mind me asking?
Wedding ring.
I strongly recommend Flint Wilderness Resort in Caramat Ontario. They have a very high success rate on bear hunting.they even do the butchering. Fishing comes with it too
Wow that’s awesome! Nice kill nick! I finally got my first bow and have been shooting relentlessly! Had to lower the poundage but I’m really on point. Excited to hunt next season. Awesome video!
Good stuff Andrew! Enjoy the new bow! Thanks for watching!
Awesome video definitely 👌 congrats on the 🐻 do have a question I help clean a bear and got some burger out of it. What is the best way to cook it and do I need to add anything to it.
Recently we've done breakfast sausage and chili. I usually add some of the rendered fat!
Good video guys,congrats
Thanks Ron!
Great video. Greetings from Alabama. New subscriber here. That is one of my bucket list hunts. Would love to take a Bear. Congratulations!
Thanks for watching! Much appreciated!
Congratulations! Did you get a pass-thru? Nice work with the field butchering and pack out.
No pass through. The hide and fat was so think.
Awesome bear!! I always track with a glock 20 strapped to my chest. Do you and nick carry a backup weapon at all? I didn't see one in the video.
He was not.
Thanks. It's always nice to see other people's methods.
Nice work, guys! Bear meat is awesome winter energy food.
For sure!
If I were you I would always hunt the mornings in the rut that's why a lot of people stay out of the woods in the morning until the run hit
Very cool channel!
Much appreciated!
May I ask what you use the bear fat for?
Cooking! It's delicious.
congratulations on the successful hunt. Was the lack of game bags purposeful or an oversight?
Oversight. Won't happen again!
Kick ass job on the kill, you guys could have used a game bag or 2!! Good work keep up the drive!!! You guys have great energy!!!
Thanks for watching Luke. Much appreciated!
As someone who has shot three pa bears you never get over the "i just shot a bear". Great job tracking. Very unlikely they ever leave good blood trails when shot in archery. Congrats and heres to many more.
Thank you Brandon!
Depending on what that bear has been gorging on before you harvested it the fat will have absorbed the flavors. Especially in the fall when black bears gorge on blueberries, that fat is awesome for making pastries or soap. Congrats on an excellent hunt.
For sure! It has a sweet flavor!
Great video and great hunt.
I was wondering if Bear in PA was susceptible to trichinosis like Bear out west.
I was a chef and would love to cook some Bear.
Great job.
There haven't been any cases to my knowledge, but I still treat it as if it's a possibility!
@@OutdoorsAllie I love med rare. I was told that Bear was one of the animals that transmitted it.
There is a Meat Eater, with Steve Rinella and he said that he and his buddies got it one time.
Love your videos. Keep up the good work.
That was soo exciting. What do you do with the bear fat?
We use it for cooking oil.
Some advice, Throw a jetsled in the vehicle. makes drags 3-4 times as easy. I stuck a 180lber in NY with the bow, your bear was every bit of that. My bear didn't have much fat at all, but is absolutely delicious.
Yes, it is delicious! Thanks for watching!
WoW that bear did have some fat!! Good job guys 👍💯🎯
Lots of it!
nice job! the weight the warden est. was probably right but nothing wrong with that size bear. Bear is one of the hardest game animals to judge their size. I've been lucky enough to take a few bears myself from the same size as Nicks up too almost 600lbs, fun to hunt and good eating. congrats again
Yes, they are very hard to judge. Maybe he was right. Sure was hard to drag out either way! Thanks for watching!
Congratulations you two nice bear. I enjoy your videos and good Luck .
Thank you Jimmy!
Don’t be discouraged about the blood trail. Bears have so many layers of fat, muscle, hyde, and everything else, that it’s hard to exit. Was a good shot. Do a little research on trichinosis with bear meat. 🍻 Cool video as usual!
For sure. Thanks Brad!
Awesome you guys
Thanks for watching!
I love my havalon knives. But only for skinning and gutting. Been a meat cutter by profession for a long time. Do yourselves a favor and get some forschner/victorinox knives. 6 inch curved semi stiff boning and an 8 inch breaking knife. Be all you need and make meat processing of your animals much easier. Awesome video!
Thanks for the feedback!!
Wow nice video
I remember my grandmother talking about making soap with bear fat
Maybe I"ll give that a try next time!
This deer season in Texas. We didn't harvest anything. The whitetails weren't showing up like they usually do.
Dang.
Congrats!!!
Thanks Wes!
What brand is that chamber vac?
Avid Armor
Buena caseria saludos👍
Allie l love youre huntyng videos 👍🇬🇪
Thanks for watching Giorgi!
Congrats. Cool bear. Did the game warden ask you about the gall bladder? The first time I brought a bear back from Canada, border patrol searched my truck with a fine toothed comb looking for the gall bladder.
Thanks Russell!
No, he didn't. I have heard people mention that before though.
Need to invest in a game cart or sled! Congrats on the 🐻
For sure. Thanks for watching Aaron!
Are you planning to use the bear fat for water proofing leather goods..like pack boots?
I used it for cooking oil.
Get ahold of a bear guid in northern Wisconsin and start putting in for points. Very good possibility of tagging a bear 400-600 lbs. check out the record book.
Hi from Syracuse NY everyone and congratulations on the bear
Hi Earl. Thanks for watching!
Imagine getting ready to gut it and it was just playing possum and jumps up on ya… for sure a shot your pants moment
Looking very pretty happy valentine blessings for you and your family 🦃🦌🐿️
Thanks for watching Ricardo!
My birthday is coming up on the 16 i well be 64 thank you very much for your like my god bless you both Ricky
Great video guys congratulations Nick that's an accomplishment to get a bear with a bow looks like you might need a bigger broadhead and maybe an ATV next time I know Allie will do some good cooking and she doesn't look like a wreck she looks like a beautiful Italian woman that likes to hunt and that's what I used to do two weeks annual leave every year during the rut 😁👏💥😉👌🐝
If they was hunting on National Forest or State Lands they aren't allowed to use ATVs in Pennsylvania.
@@naturescoper3936 if that's the case they make drag sleds
Congratulations Nick 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 being calm & collective on such a close shot - that was a fatty bear 😂 Going in the woods that's the reason I always carry my Glock 20 on a drop leg & my EDC in a shoulder holster under my jacket if I'm not carrying a long gun or shotgun because you never know what's behind the next tree or hill.
For sure! 👍
@@OutdoorsAllie 👍🏻 because it's better to be safe than sorry
@@-RONNIE You could run into the next Jeffrey Dahmer.
Did y'all find the other leg that roll down the hill?
Yep!
What are you using the fat for ?
Cooking oil.
