  • I've been going through some stuff personally that made the last half of my hunting season rather sad. I'm thankful I was able to fill my buck tag, but it was bittersweet. Life's not always fun. This unfortunately was one of those times.

I can't tell you how many times I've been in my feelings and emotional in the mountains. To me it's the only place I can release all of the pain I sometimes feel. Therapeutic in a sense. Praying for you and your family. Chase your dreams, live life with love and follow your passions. Anyone looking down on you from above would be damn proud of you for that.

The way you get sentimental talking about hunting with Nick is how I feel with my son. He just harvested his second archery buck and we had to work for it. 46 miles of hunting in 5 days for a 15 year old boy, and he didn't complain once. Condolences for your grandmother.

Looking back over 30+ years of deer hunting Ive realized that the deer woods are like an old companion. The quietness before dawn, the colors in the sky with sunup and sunset, the sounds and smells in the woods are all fairly consistent and over time you get used to them and you become very comfortable in the woods. What better time/place to process your emotions than with an old trusty companion. Congrats on a great deer Allie and condolences to you and your family.

This episode brought tears to my eyes. My mother passed October 28th. She wasn't a deer hunter, but she loved deer hunting season. I thought of her as I sat in the woods and later pulled my deer out of the woods, thankfully, in the snow this year. I identified with your experience in this video. I do miss having people around deer hunting as I'm the only one in my family that still does deer hunt, but at the same time enjoy the independence and tranquility. Thanks for the great video!

Blessings to you, your family, this episode hits the feels in a different way, cause I can relate. I know exactly what you mean, when you said you can sit at home and cry, or be in the beautiful nature, hunting, or fishing, and in silence, have time to think and process stuff. That's how I try and deal with my difficulties as well, hunting and fishing. Just wish I had more time, money and opportunity to do so. Sometimes, gets overwhelming with stress, and not enough nature time. Much love and respect. Blessing, be safe, and good luck in the woods🙏

Us grands and our parents were devastated. But they continued with the activities and the dinner as planned because that's what she would have wanted us to do. Having all our family together and preparing New Years dinner was a blessing easing our suffering.
I did the same with my kids when my parents pasted.
They were going to cancel plans but I said they would want us to carry on living our life. I'm old now and know it's true. A tear and a moments pause for me and then back to living your life.

I'm so sorry for your loss, I believe your grandma helped you with that buck, the year my wife passed away I harvested my biggest buck with my bow and I believe she helped me with that buck.
