  • I filled my tag on day one of muzzleloader season! And not alone. It was my friend Nicole's FIRST time EVER observing a deer hunt. We set the bar high for her lol. And my friend Marta was there as well. The three of us gut the deer and drug it out of the woods, then skinned it by a fire. I have more butchering to do!!
Muzzleloader used in video is the CVA Accura .45 caliber muzzleloader!

    Bow poundage tip
You always say that you rather have bad form and get those few extra pounds.
But I’ve found a way to get more wait with good form.
I’m now shooting over 60 lbs and I started at 45 lbs
It’s an off-season project but the results can be amazing
If you back down your limbs to where it’s easy to draw back with good form and shoot a lot like that then slowly increasing your poundage while keeping good form after a few months your muscles in your back that are never used, except when drawing a bow will get stronger and you should be able to reach the same number of lbs or more with good form
Hopes this helps it’s worth it

Nice shot. I've never hunted with a muzzleloader. Only with a crossbow, a 243, 222, & 3006. The doe I got weighed 120 lb. It's a pretty good size for Texas Hill country. I wish I could send you a picture of it but I don't know how to do it on RUclips, but I need to buy me a vacuum seal. Usually I wrap my meat up the old-fashioned way with butcher freezer paper and tape tape. But I made venison stew. My daughter and her boyfriend loved it. My wife will not eat it. I also get emotional when I get a deer. I'm glad your friends got a deer also and Nick. Take care

Put on your rub smoke to 165 wrap with foil then put in smoker till it hits 205 then wrap it in a towel to set a couple hours. Also leave tin foil on when wrapped. Take out pull and add BBQ.

    First! And congrats Allie! 😂
I bumped a herd of does bedded down 2 yards from my sit Saturday here in The Catskills in my backwoods! There was a stand off for 20 minutes, me and the matriarch in front of each other, but it was pitch black out and all I could see was her outline. After 20 minutes, they moved off. My heart was racing all the time. I knew I wasn't going to nail them, but it was a "win" for me to not get busted and to be 6 feet from a doe for 20 minutes standing perfectly still.
I did fill two doe tags on day one of regular season this year in September, so I'm good. I'm still bowhunting.

Even though I experienced a hang fire, I stayed on target, & still blew the bottom 1/3 of his heart off.
