I NEVER THOUGHT THIS WOULD HAPPEN TO ME * Archery Hunting Deer on Public Land In My Quigley 4x4 *

  • The hunt continues! And it's a lot harder than any other archery deer hunting I've done. The public land here is hard to access because of water and wildlife... like the cotton mouth / water moccasin that I almost stepped on while hiking through shin deep water or the poison ivy that has spread systemically through my body. The fun continues :)

Hey 👋🏼 Allie! First of all, the first tree you showed yourself saddled to was poison ivy from the ground up to where you were! 🤦🏻
In south Florida your dealing with poison ivy, sumac and poison oak and it is so prevalent! Learn to identify all three!
Next try to locate hardwood hammocks in the swamps of Florida and hunt there because you will see the wildlife seeking refuge there.
And finally, I’m extremely allergic to urishiol which is an oily substance and allergen that is in the above mentioned plants.
After every hunt I come home and bathe in dawn dish liquid and wash my clothes in that stuff.
Wear rubber boots and gloves and wash them and your gear thoroughly after trekking in and out.
Im native to south Florida living in south Louisiana now and hunting the swamps here -very similar terrain!
Oh yeah, take lots of Benadryl to help with the itching, it helps a lot!

Welcome to hunting in Florida! It’s definitely a different beast. My dad and I always talk about how a lot of other hunters from other states would quite if they moved here, between the snakes, gators and mosquitos! I’ve hunted here most of my life and I’m still cautious with walking in water over my calf especially. Take it seriously but there is a lot to enjoy. Especially if it cools off in the winter!

I live in and bowhunt South and Central Florida.
It's freaking hard. Heat. Fire ants. Snakes. Gators. MOSQUITOES.
When I go to hunt Illinois every year it's like the easiest vacation of all time.
Cool weather, no bugs, ag fields full of deer. Basically the opposite of FL.
I killed a nice 8pt yesterday with my bow on public ground in the heat on stand for 12 hours.
6:30 am climbed up, killed him at 6:30pm.

Hot weather hunting just not enjoyable to me. Mosquitoes, horse flies, ticks, chiggers, cobwebs in your face, horrendous. Just the noise level of insects (cicadas) can be enough to cover up animal movement sounds. Also, there is food everywhere for the deer. They just don't have to travel, so hard to ambush. In addition, the deer are covered in ticks. You can also get poison ivy from touching their fur.

Early season is always really tough in the morning because most deer end up in the beds while it’s still dark. Trail cameras are a good idea and put them up 10 feet in the air so no one can reach them. Something else to remember about poison ivy is that if it’s on clothing, boots or your pets it can be there for weeks and you can still get it! Most definitely your pillow covers and sheets, this is usually how it spreads all around your body! You must wash everything as soon as you know you’ve touched it. Thanks for your channel! Good Luck!

Ooooooh boy!!!! Poison ivy is ruthless. I enjoyed the vid. Being from north central Pa, I don't even like dealing with copperheads and rattlesnakes. I sat within feet of a water moccasin in South Carolina while filming a turkey hunt. Nooooooo thank you . Keep up the great work.

Best relief for poison ivy rash is a shower with water as hot as you can tolerate. It brings a euphoric relief that lasts for hours.

FLORIDA IS Great vacation state forsure no doubt about it. But as far as whitetail hunting goes not very popular at all. I don't recall watching any DVD's or hunting TV shows on cable in Florida. There has to be a reason for that.
I think your charisma and charm will be put to the test keeping your viewers entertained. Bowhunting in Florida appears to be very boring to me. Aren't you worried about algaters there so common what do you carry for protection.

Use a charcoal mask to block your pours from opening and it will help! The hotter it is the more it spreads. Clog your pours.

Lol wait till you get poison oak/ivy on your kibble and bits, you quickly realize the pleasure dogs get dragging their a$$'s on the carpet. I recommend a hot bath with about a cup of bleach, followed by as cold of a shower as you can stand.

Tried telling you this on IG but DAWN dish soap works well with preventing the oils from spreading on your body. Ive been in your shoes a few years ago and it sucks.

Yes ma'am I live in Central Florida also and as you'll tell there's not as many deer in Florida as upper States and when you get one it is a lot higher of success because you really have to put your work in and be a real Hunter instead of a lot of other places you see on RUclips just go sit one time shoot something quick should have stick in there be careful of snakes alligators and all the other critters in Florida good luck keep at it.

That definitely looks like a different way of hunting and I'm sure once you guys get it figured out you'll be successful. Get well soon.

You have to find thickets, and hunt them. You will find trails and bedding. Hunt where you find that. Where trails merge together is good too… I could be wrong but it looks like you have been set up in the big/open woods. You will find sign there but it’s usually all from night time activity. Find a thicket with bedding and trails/limbs chewed off and hunt it hard! Good luck! Love the videos!

You have a fantastic eye to see that marsupial in the tree in the pitch dark. I imagine it’s eyes caught your light, but still, most hunters wouldn’t had ever seen it tucked away in that tree like it was.
Seeing a wild otter would be amazing. I’d be as excited as seeing a dolphin or an Orca.😂

Not sure how I got sent here, but I AM a MT boy & a hunter. Florida is WAY too hot for this red head, & seeing the back of your head on a clear day doesn't appeal to me longer than a vacation: however, I did run into poison something while in NY, & wow was that miserable. You got my sub!
