Why they don't provide more storage in the tv itself afterall a basic android phone has a minimum 64 GB of storage these days and it does cost much to provide 64 GB

I completely agree, 4.4GB isn’t a lot of storage at all, especially if you want to use games.

Migrate back? Ehm... did the tv just magically get more space in the meantime?
I would assume the usb stick will have to be permantly in the usb port, so you get it as a 2nd hardrive for the tv;)

    • @TechSteve

Data collected from the apps fills up the memory as well in this case some of the files will move to the usb instead of the TV, if you need the the usb for something else then you would move the files back to the TV. You may have to delete some apps again. I plugged in a hard drive and it didn’t work on this sony

You makes awesome videos and you honest. Question: I have a Sony A80J great Tv but like many Sony Tv with Google OS I have an issue hoping you might know something. It's shut down twice already on it's own. All the power options and Bravia sync are turned off. Timer and sleep time are both off. I can't figure out why this is happening, many other people having this same issue. Once it turn off, I would simply turn it back on and continue but why is Google Tv so buggy. Never had any of my Samsung Tv turn off or on on it own. Any advise would be great. I know I can reset the Tv and wait to see what happens, however many other people said they reset the Tv and it started happening again. Sony tech when you call are level 1 tech and they don't know much at all.

  • @dom3335

This is only applicable to a TV with "Google TV" installed, not a Google TV device (CCWGTV), which doesn't have USB ports. You can get a USB hub, but you will need to find one that works and probably get a new charging brick to supply enough power through PD.
Just know that after doing all this, the apps that you move to the USB stick run incredibly slow, Kodi is almost unusable. I'm guessing it's the same with this method as the speed is restricted by the USB flash drive.

Yes, much worse on samsungs socalled smart tv.
Running out of space is notorius on samsung i bought in 2018. So much that the smart tv basicly just is a dressed up lemon with only enough space to max 20 apps.
20 apps may sound like a lot, but if you start to count youtube, amazon prime, spotify, etc... ypu quickly get over 20 apps;)

      @@TechSteve my 2018 model i think had 2 gb.
It ran out of space within a few weeks.
Many apps took way more then 11 mb.
      And updates takes space.
And samsung starts to complain if there is not several hundred mbs left. Same with most other mobiles etc... because updates needs to extract etc etc... so they basicly need "workspace".
If a tv has 4 Gb, then can deduct 500 mb for workspace. Without workspace for the apps for temporary storage and for extracting their updatefiles etc... you will quickly get into problems.
So then left is 1,5 GB on my device from 2018 i guess.
Which Samsung itself uses a big chunks for its own software etc. It is not like you get all for your own apps.
So... then maybe 0,5 gb - 1 gb left for own app selections.
And many apps do take some more space if they are to run ok.
But if 2021 models comes with 4 GB, and the os itself has not blown up in size,... then i guess maybe have 2,5 gb space left for app selections etc.
It is definitly more then what 2gb storage would given effective.
But i am scepticalto apps only being 11 mb?
I see on my samsung mobile it constantly say that this and this app is this and that... but when i installed them.... they end up taking a lot more space;)
And if use the apps constantly, then canadd up some big chunks of profiledata and data also.
In 2018 i wanted tobuy the sony model because i could add up to 64 gb usb stick to it for extra storage to the androidstore there.
But the tv itself was so slow and buggy, so i ended up with a nice 74xx UHD tv. (Was ironiclybetter image quality then many of samsungs qled.i considered qled a joke at that time...
