Hi Triple M! Where were you a week ago...:) I purchased several of the ONN 4k Streaming boxes for my home. After setting it up, I noticed the lack of internal storage for programs and data (just as you pointed out). I've been a fan of Troypoint for years so I found his video on expanding the storage. His video recommended formatting the USB stick as part of the device (in order to use it for storing apps). After realizing that this DID NOT allow me to store data (videos, music, etc.), I started researching how to expand external storage. Triple M... every video and article I found about this ONLY showed how to add INTERNAL storage. Not one article talked about data storage. As a result of this and many hours of troubleshooting (I'm a retired PC Systems Consultant...:)), I accidentally discovered that, if I ignore the "New USB attached - Setup" (or some such message), the USB drive is now available as data storage. Also, if you restart the ONN box, the message disappears. Imagine my surprise when I saw your video about how to solve my issue. Hence the "Where were you...". Thanks so much for creating this video, Triple M! I'm putting this link in my ONN box folder (on my PC) for future reference.
@@Ridethebomb777 I DID read the box. However, I'm NOT an Android programmer and this was my first experience with an Android TV box. Therefore, I didn't know what to expect as far as storage capabilities and expansion capabilities.
@@CPatafio Far play. I think the Onn would be fine for most people who just want to stream their 'paid' subscriptions ... Netflix, Prime etc etc. But for actually cord cutters who rely on apk's for their entertainment .... no.
@@Ridethebomb777 I was actually able (using the instructions in the video PLUS some troubleshooting) to install 2 USB sticks... one as memory expansion and one as additional storage.😀
Great video. Got the same Onn box from my brother a week ago and wanted to add storage from USB stick and was not able to do it. Either format as system storage which would make it unreadable to my PC or can't use it at all. Your video solve that. Is there a program or method to image/restore the device in case it goes back or you want to image to another Onn device? If you can answer that or make a video on it that would be great. Thanks.
Can you do a video on how to use file x-plore to access the miscellaneous files on the onn box and delete them . i have 2.4 gb in there and it is using up all my available storage . 🙏🏻
If you’d had success with an external SSD drive with your ONN streaming box, can you please comment below with the brand of that hard drive as well as the size? Sometimes the brand makes a big difference whether or not it will work at all, and your input will save people a lot of hunting around. Thank you.
@@gstar7686 If the files are larger than 4 GB, will it just STOP copying at that point (i.e. 'fail') OR ... Hey what's up I did this to my ONN Box now when I turn It on It comes on say's Google TV then the screen goes Black how can I fix this or factory reset It without seeing? THANKS
Hey man, wanted to ask if you are aware of any memory issues with the new Onn or Google streamer? I can't get my kodi skins to save anything on my Onn 4k Pro. I'll do proper kodi shutdowns, but if there is a power loss, or the cord is pulled for a few seconds, it reverts back to default estuary. I've exchanged boxes already and it still suffers. I had read of it happening to Google Streamers too but I do not own one. I have a shield and fire cube which do not experience this. I can't imagine that it's just my Onn boxes happening.
Do not use the original power supply that it comes with, 5ghz wireless will become unstable and slow to a crawl. I assume your usb speeds will not be as fast as they should be, either. Use a higher quality micro usb cable and plug it in somehow (I use my xbox one, personally).
is there a way to save all the apps I have downloaded to the email address I use so that when i set up a new box and log into the box with my email that it will install all my apps during the set up instead of searching for the apps I want to download on the tv box. What is the max hard drive space you can use, can I use a 12tb hard drive?
Does the format goes to Google Chromecast TV? I follow all the instructions and the only thing is I'm unable to move apps to the USB drive. Is there something I'm doing wrong??
@XMP2K5 yes it is I tried two different 128 gb flash drives and both won't add it to extra storage at one point it added it but you couldn't side load anything
May I know if it is possible to set up the box without login to the google account? if I do not intend to download any app from google play store? or can I logout my google account after installation of all the apps I need? Actually I am helping my friend to set up the box but I do not intend to keep my google account login in the TV Box.
Did everything but I do t see flashdrive in xploere. On the left n right on xplore I only see internal Storage But when I go into setting system storage I see the flashdrive. Using Walmart onn box I’m just wondering why I do t see my 64 gig flashdrive in xplorer.
I did exactly as shown but it says, "disk drive not connected". It is connected. I pulled out all of the cords and cables and reseated them but no change. ???
Some OTG cables aren't compatible with this Onn 4k streaming device from what i am told. Some may have problems carrying the power or your usb may have to be formatted to something other than Fat32 only or what format that brand of otg cable you have , requires. So, you have to make sure to get a compatible OTG cable for this onn device. Hope that helps.

ONN boxes are nice, but it's a big disappointment that is doesn't work with NTFS or exFAT formatted drives.
Why are those 2 things important???

Yup add it as a Bluetooth device under remotes

Some apps still take space from from the onn storage e en if u put it on flash drive
Great, except it doesn't work. I believe I have version 10. I was able to add the hardware, it's not visible under "storage."
So I literally used the link your description to buy the otg cable followed the instructions it’s not detecting the usb drives
Hi, there's a way to add a USB controller with the otg? I try to do it, but the Onn doesn't recognize it.
Took a shot every time he said "go ahead" and got liver poisoning. 🤪
