This is the BEST video for Ranger fuel pump change out.. Dropping the tank is stupid. I do like to place a couple of bath towels on the front of the box to stop any scatches
2 weeks ago I replaced mine Started right up. It was pretty easy. Except for the ring at 1st. I tried a regular hammer, wouldn't budge. I went 2 a sledge. Came off easier. A few days b4 i removed bed bolts, they were a bear 2 remove. Been in there 21 yrs. I kept soaking them in wd-40 for a few days waiting on pump 2 come in. They went in No problem. I tried a few times on the filter but had difficulty. Tools I bought weren't fitting properly. Local shop installed 2day for $84.00. I think I'm good 2 go..I also replaced fuse, relay & inertia switch. Plugs & wires also. Cleaned throttle body. I'm a RUclips graduate. LOL
I have done it myself before lol! I had my son with me so it was a team effort this time. Just lift the bed on to the tire one side at a time, just be very careful!
Why did the Ford motor company make such a stupid decision of putting a fuel pump in the gas tank under the stupid bed they like to build vehicles so no one can work on them their selves by their selves
Glad to see fresh content
You are the only one in the world to watch it so far! Guess nobody else have Ford Rangers with bad fuel pumps?

Looks easy, when you know what you doing.thanks for the video
Thank you for posting this I swear if I do all this and my problem isn't the pump, I just might cry 😂
Well, the only hard thing about this repair is the price of the fuel pump. Hope it fixes your issue
Thanks. Clear, quick and concise.
Looks like to me every single video I watched the relay for the fuel pump is somewhere different in the fuse box
I would've tested for leaks b4 I replaced the bed. What what make of fuel pump, & what year ranger?
How did you do this yourself when you had help to lift the bed, i thought yiu did it yourself. Can one person do it?
I have done it myself before lol! I had my son with me so it was a team effort this time. Just lift the bed on to the tire one side at a time, just be very careful!
That's the pcm relay though.
Wow, you are right. I should have gone up one more! At any rate, without the pcm, the fuel pump won’t work while cranking. Thanks for the feedback!
Was the fuel pump the reason it stalled out when cold but ran fine when it got hot?
No, unfortunately. That ended up being bad wiring to the camshaft position sensor. Swapping the pump fixed my hesitation and erratic fuel gauge.
Sure wish you post the Model # of the pump. All I see online are plastic. Yours is metal

I feel your pain! Hope the video helped you knock out this job quick.
