Ford Ranger Lean Codes and Low Fuel Pressure with NEW Fuel Pump - Beware of Cheap parts!

This 2004 Ranger runs fine but throws lean codes. Fuel trims were fine at idle but immediately increased with rpm and load to over %20. Fuel pressure was found to be 10-15 psi below spec. The new fuel pump installed by the previous owner was found to be putting out the wrong pressure. the cause was the fuel pressure regular that came installed on the pump assembly. Replacing it fixed the issue. Cheap Aftermarket pressure regulators set to the wrong pressure is not uncommon, and I have seen it across multiple brands. This is why I prefer to replace only the parts that fail. Replacing just the fuel pump rather than the entire module assembly would have avoided this.
