On Vics, Marquis and Town Cars once you disconnect the exhaust hangar throw a ratchet strap around it and winch the pipe over to the side. Gets it entirely out of the way.
Howdy, I just went to start my 03 vic and I don’t hear the fuel pump. It turns over nice but not even a fart out of it. Fuses and relays are ok and so I’m thinking it’s gotta be a bad pump or the connection back there. What color were your fuel pump wires?
Just got a 06 crown Vic and she died on the way home of fucking around she will turn over but won’t start I’m assuming it’s the fuel pump atleast your not the only one in this boat
Yeah wtf I have a 03 cvpi and it started a few days ago completely fine, then the next day cranks and cranks, fuel gauge said it had some gas but I knocked on the tank and was bone dry. I filled it up and no issues for the day. Then today it's just cranking again no start... When I turn the key the first time, I'll hear the fuel pump kinda wine then it'll almost start but die and then just crank. Then when turning the key back and forth again the fuel pump no longer makes a wine noise. You guys have any suggestions? Relay maybe? Fuel pump trash?
@@Dawgpound98 yep, turned out to be fuel pump. It completely died on me at the gas station and had to tow it... Those mfs are expensive for a good one and the labor 💀
Little tip for that one connector youcan use a 7/32 Allen key wedge it in pull left first then right then pop connector with a flat tip was super easy!
I just got a quote today. We’re about $450. That’s just labor from the shop if I provide the pump and fuel filter. Nope I’m gonna do it in my driveway. Save a bunch.
A little tip from a very old mechanic. Anytime you’re taking exhaust down from those rubber hangers. Spray a little bit of your favorite penetrating spray in there. It’ll make the hanger just slide right out by hand. ! And also on the fuel pump bolts, it didn’t look like you were using an 8 mm because that’s what they are. I noticed your bolt was sticking to the socket. I think you were using the wrong size. !! Otherwise a great video I checked with a local shop and they would’ve charged me $450 just labor to put it in so I’m gonna be doing this in my driveway
Did you or anyone else complete this repair and the fuel gauge not work? I can hook all the electrical connection up outside of the tank and see that the float arm changes the gauge, but when I install it in the tank, it’s below empty.
Gotta say, great video. I’m 99% done… that very last connector will not snap it. I’m just stuck at this point! Also; I had my truck next to the car and hooked a ratchet strap to the exhaust to pull it out of the way. That works very well.
I love this guy.
Great job!
Between this and another video, it helped me. Thank you
Glad it helped!
Nice workspace. The carpet ties the whole driveway together.
😂thank you
Great video, very thorough. Wanted to watch to see what I was getting into and now I see that it should be a breeze. Thank you!

Great work ! You are a smart and fearless young man.
I always like the part when you start it up and it RUNS! 😄
You did a fine job bro.
Excellent Video my dude! Love It!
Great vid, works on aerobody crown vics too!
How empty should the gas tank be to avoid fuel dumping out when you remove the pump?
how hard is this to do with a almost full tank??
Can you access the fuel pump from under the back seat or do have to take the gas tank down?
Neither.
Man thang is crusty. This oregon boy is not used to seeing that. 😅 Great video and information though😊
Lol, thank you!
This Georgia boy isn't used to seeing that either. I feel for you guys in the Rust Belt.
Lol PA here you gotta love it
Thank you Canadian. I will attempt to change my fuel pump

absolutely love you disconnected the fuel line ez as pie
How much does a shop charge??
About 850-1200
I finished mine in 2 hours and my RockAuto pump(Bosch) was $150
Stop being lazy

Thanx. Everyone else just cut that top wire in their vids.
Can you do it was full gas tank
One wire plug doesn't come out as easy. It gets caught between the brace and fuel take. So how to you get it loose without cutting it?
It was pretty tight for me too but I was able to find a spot to sneak it through.
Good to hear. Thanks.@@smoked-outgarage3261
I was able to stick a straight pick between the connections and manipulate it loose.

Good thing I don’t have a exhaust 🤣
“Easy way” no this is the fast way not the easy way
Is the easy way just dropping the tank?
