Im not proud of it but i spent a year in prison in the south. After about a month of sweating out all the booze and drugs i started working out really hard and treating my sentence more like being in a monastery instead of a prison and really working on myself. I was out in the yard in 100° heat and 15° snow and ice with nobody else around and that was really my favorite time to be out there. I almost miss it. Im 6 years clean and sober now and got married 2 years ago and have a life worth living. I appreciate what your doing. Keep up the great work.

"This is my home." Hooyah Taylor! As a Navy diver I never came close to what the SEAL's go through but there were some times when I was so cold I couldn't get my fingers to work right, and it doesn't matter how cold you get: you can't get out of the water until the Master Diver says you can. And even then it has to be in accord with the dive table. Even in winter off the coast of Korea, you're not getting the nice warm dry suit that you want to have, motionless at 120 feet. Cold, wet, darkness--it teaches you that you have a soul because it's the only part of you that doesn't freeze.

I'm in the upper Midwest. When I was skinny and *really* fit, the cold months were torture. I was always cold down to my bones. The only way to get rid of it was to soak in a hot tub for an hour or so. Now that I've put on a considerable amount of "insulation" from having two kids😂, I can handle the cold SO much better. A lot of it just has to do with how lean someone is I think

Oh man. As a retired Canadian soldier I know what you’re talking about. I used to call it Fuk-Fuk. For example you get the tap on your shoulder for sentry duty in the dark at 3am and it’s minus 30. You feel around for your gear in the dark and whisper to yourself fuk-fuk-fuk. Then later you tap on your security relief and their boots are frozen stiff and since they didn’t open up the laces enough beforehand they can’t get their feet into their boots so add additional time freezing your balls off while they un-fuk themselves.
I have a greater appreciation now for what civilians take for granted like warm beds and hot showers.

I got sent to a place near Point Barrow, AK as a contractor.
    It was -39f.
A colleague was on a broken down ATV, we went to go get her.
I was in a rush, forgot to put frostbite preventative cream on, well, It doesn't hurt at the time, but when it thaws..
It wanted to take scissors and cut off the tip of my nose and my lips.
It is the worst burning itching sensation imaginable.
Doc fixed me up with some of that nice stuff, if you know what I mean.
Washed that down with some Johnny Walker and slept with this mask thing on for 12 hours.
I kept my nose and lips.

I hear you. I got my feet frostbitten in Germany. I was stupid and didn't wear my Mickey Mouse boots. Suffered some light nerve damage and still have my feet but it was the worst pain I had ever experienced. It felt like a billion tiny hand grenades constantly exploding under my skin.

    • @hansblitz7770
      @hansblitz7770 2 месяца назад

      Right?
I had no idea how bad frostbite would hurt and I don't think I've heard anyone mention it.
I had the urge to put ice on it.. makes no sense but I wanted the effected areas to be numb again.

I was just a regular US Army Infantry grunt and I had my share of cold weather. I'm sure it can't compare to seal training and missions in the water but even in the field it gets pretty bad. I can't even imagine what SEALS have to endure. Especially if you come from cold weather units like 10th Mountain Division or Alaska. The cold definitely hits you different when you're patrolling and it's either Below Zero or dealing with Cold Rain while "camping."

Spent a number of years working in Canadian forestry. Often super remote, helicopter drop-off in the morning on the side of severe mountain terrain. I recall, especially the first year or so, before I figured out the hard way to prepare the right gear, having to work non-stop, soaking wet, boots filled with ice and snow, since to stop would have been rapid hypothermia. Interestingly, speaking to that shared suffering aspect, it's one of the few phases of adult life where I made enduring (20+ years ongoing) friendships. The mosquito season was far worse.

Ha ha, you managed to reach out across the Pacific to Taiwan 🇹🇼 and give me another Ranger School flashback 😮! It wasn’t anywhere near what you endured in the SEALs or the Legion, but it was a winter ❄️ class, complete with rain, wind, snow, and wind chill factors. Just as you said: 1) it hit me on the long patrol in the Mountain Phase that unlike in civilian life, I couldn’t just go inside and grab a hot shower and a coffee ☕️. I lived out there; 2) the cold 🥶 made at least one guy quit on the spot!

I understand it "All" matters. But you should drop some points on arms. Being tall & lanky arm big biceps are difficult. Is it years of practice? Is it a hard 3 month routine? Being short & to get the look of big biceps is gravy. In my opinion vs Being tall. The bottom grill is beyond gangster. Awesome idea.

I had to be op - for on my M-60 laying in wait for an hour or two on snow in bad Toelz overlooking a frozen pond with a rope bridge going into then out of the ice. Two platoons came by I fired on them and they reacted but went around the pond. Here comes Don Purdy with my buddies and Sean Kelly who jumps into the pond busts up the ice cap and makes them use the rope bridge which dips into the mud with all the weight. I wasn’t cold anymore. They punished the shit outta my buddies. Kelly was a fruitloop. He was covered in ice snow and mud just like my buddies. Screaming his head off non stop. Our “Purdy platoon” got hammered the worst especially after one buddy spread crabs in the latrine. The Green Berets had our ass over that incident. That guy was one of a handful to die in Panama. Mike Deblois. My other buddy was his company commander. Camp Warden was a great force multiplier exercise. I hope the army still does things like that. 3 weeks of pure Ranger Green Beret torture but man we laughed hard at the insanity sometimes. We were told not to pull the lever on the window to exit the Blackhawk cause the window falls out. My buddy Jay knocked it right out. Ever had to lie under rotorwash for 20 min at zero degrees on frozen ground. It’s awesome. We all thanked Jay for starting off the 3 night patrol from hell with a bang. The pilot was shooting blood from his eyes over it. Then we all got up to our necks into a peat-bog and had to be rescued. My buddy was up to his chin before the SF guys yanked him out by his ears. The Lieutenant was 6’6” and was up to his armpits when they got him. Too funny. Not a speck of dirt on any of us. Peat is some weird ass sht. I recall laying on a grass hill feeling the first spring warmth thinking how some GI just like me probably did the same thing in the exact same place during WW2. I got a real strange feeling like dead guys were watching us on that peaceful hill after such a brutal winter and months of being in the field. 1983-84. 3 German marks to one dollar. Great rate for partying. 👍🇺🇸

@@tcavofficialTaylor. I appreciate your motivational message and podcast format. I’m 58 this June 25th and it’s hard to be retired but refired if ya know what I mean. Still in the Fight. But I’m working on a book-video series-graphics and on top of that I invest crypto and monitor that. I hit the gym every other day no excuses and that’s where you help out when my ass is dragging. (It’s always that nutrition thing) if I time my creatine and protein intake just right I don’t get the gremlins but when it’s timed right. Man! That creatine is fucking amazing shit! But I’m reaching out to you for a favor. I tried to get Mike Glover to reach out to tell Shawn Ryan I would like to just get 20 min to go over my material with him for his podcast. I can meet you and pay you for your time and explain it to you and we can go from there. Or if you want a get away in Boston I’ll put you up in nice diggs anywhere you want to stay and I’ll pay you for your time. If you know a way to Shawn and can make the connection I’ll take care of him and he can decide if it’s his cup of tea. No harm no foul. I walk away not angry or dejected. Life is what it is. Call my union hall and ask for extension 1100 local 104 IBEW 508-660-3900 tell them who you are and you need a character reference. I told the person to be expecting you or Randal Carlson or such the likes to be calling about a reference to verify my person. The subject matter is pretty deep stuff of a technical nature that is a key to why they are having issues with Ai trying to kill us all. It’s interesting subject matter Taylor. It taps into a lot of things. I’m going to need you to sign a simple NDA form to read you in. If you’re interested please let me know. Mike did not want to bother his brother over it. He’s protective of who he refers and I do not blame him. Seals stick together and I’m cool with it. We are our brothers keepers. I have talked to PBD several times (Pat Bet David) and it’s not his cup of tea. So I’m waiting on Randall Carlson to respond. Thanks for your attention to this humble request. God bless and keep up the good work. My name is Richard (NMN) Boran my son is the same but has a middle name. Like you Taylor. I’m just trying to help America and the world’s situation. It took me over 30 years to figure out what I discovered. If your lights turn on and you immediately understand its value then you will immediately begin to understand the basic level they have gotten wrong which has caused intellectual individuals way smarter than you and I to get the shoe on the wrong foot. And word needs to circulate through the grass roots network that you occupy space in. Take care T/Cav. I will not bother you further. PBD recently signed out for good and you are free to do the same. I will find a fit eventually. Persistence pays brother you know that is true. I always tell folks like you I am here now that you have my contact information. If you wish to expand your shows subject matter stream/source being and interviewer of others I am here. You have my data. It’s important for you to have your next several moves in play T/Cav. Your surfing rip curls right now but I am here for when the tide goes out on your current project. God Bless Sir. 🇺🇸
