That's the definition of military. Hours and hours of boredom and repetition followed by a few moments of stark terror.
Still would do it all over again though.
90% boredom, 10% terror
@@redskyatnight123 I agree 👍
You are a sandbagged!
Sandbagger
LMAO... when I was going through selection in Aubagne, (1993) it seemed like every other candidate was claiming to be a bad-ass ex-mil, or combat sport champion of some kind... and then there was me, just left commercial fishing in Alaska, and a Slovak who was a train conductor, we were quiet and low profile just trying to make it through and figure what the hell was going on.
A couple years later, we were in Djibouti having a few Kro after finishing CECAP and laughing about how many of them never even made it selection and Castel! Good memories
Yes indeed Mike!
My girl got more deployments and combat time and trigger time then you 3 aromer 1id tip of the spear combat medic 3 deployments to Iraq 1 to afghanstan shot lost a lung and survived a grenade attack you be out of a job if I got thur the medical selection you be my bitch
" la voie de l'inconscient."
I also joined the army for romantic reasons. After some time, I realized that this is a harsh school of life. I don’t regret anything, the instilled discipline, as well as the understanding that no one needs you except your family, these are absolutely necessary things.
So you married her and had 4 kids then caught her cheating and she had a fatal accident?
Man, you are killing it. This has become my favorite channel on the net. Thanks for sharing your story and hard won wisdom.
👊🏼
I watched Platoon in High School; told my mum I will be a grunt.... straight out of High School straight into Basic.... 10 years solid grunt life.... Thanks to Barnes and Elias....
“I will take a sincere interest in seein’ you suffer.” ~ Sgt. Barnes
TCAV,
I met so many interesting guys serving in the military and LEO. I remember thinking many times, "so many of us have lives and experiences that would make best sellers."
Those who serve are truly blessed. I envy you for this adventure you are on, and I thank you for giving an old dreamer the chance to dream with you vicariously
Did 8 years US Army (Light infantry, Airborne, Medivac) As a 91W Combat Medic. Got out and ended up in the Air Force as Services-Casuality Services Investigator our of Dover Port Mortuary.....after 15 years was medically discharged. Tried to get into becoming a Crew Chief...which was not meant to be. Don't regret my time in. Good and bad memories....I was medically retired....nuff said
@@Odinsjewljust be happy you didn’t make it as a crew chief lol
@@seanelovesjiujitsu I was a Crew Chief on F-4C Phantoms.....loved it !
Thank you for your service in the FFL and to all Legionnaires , you’re the most respected and loved in French’s heart .
I joined the Marine Corps after college. My test took place in the lane that God forgot, Officer Candidates School, Quantico. Started with 80 bubbas in my platoon. All college grads, a few active duty NCOs, and all highly physically fit. Graduated on/about 38 officer candidates. At that time, it was the mental test I needed. Prepared me to lead Marines in much more dangerous situations. Never had the opportunity to work with FFL. Did work closely with French Army officers in Afghanistan circa 2002. Ate meals with them, and visited their ISAF HQ camp at Kabul International AirPort
Hahahahaha,” ifyoure that guy, youre gonna get…pause…we said SMOKED at the same time!” Lmao
😆🤙🏼
I’m an Aussie vet my brother served in the FFL
He’s very proud of his achievements and service.
Your jungle training sounds fun 🤩
I've been interested in the French Foreign Legion since I was a kid and have served on active duty in both the USAF and USN.....73 now and too late in this life. The FFL is legendary, and an exclusive club. Been a NYC Fireman, oil refinery roustabout , telecom tower climber and tugboat deckhand etc....I would have liked to have been part of The Legion.....maybe in the next life ! :)
Sounds like you checked the boxes you needed to, that's an impressive list.
@@jaymobiggety9903 Thank you, I enjoyed it :)
" The Supernatural Life " channel.
(From all 22 vlogs TC has done, this is the first one he enjoys so much: smiling and laughing at least 4-5 times in it.) And the first time he states it loudly and clearly: "I'm a UNIQUE individual, not everybody looks like ME". The rest of his throaty-coarse speech constitutes and restitutes one more rough-but-true step towards world-crossing and inner understanding. Thanks once again, man
My man! Got u bro👊🏼
I heard that they turned some SEALs away because they could not demonstrate a strong reason. Americans must have a difficult time with the entry interviews, having to explain why they are leaving a country with a well funded military and opportunities to the loosely organized FFL.
Great story about the Kenyan runner. Love these stories
"Not everyone looks like me! I'm a unique individual!" Lol 😂😂😂😂 Good video.
U wearing the legion breitling?? Respect man! I whent to paris and then Marseille and after 3 weeks Marseille i quit… because i was talking when we where eating. Sergant chef hit me. I had to shut up no talking . I have respect for you man!!
Really appreciate all these videos man 🙏
Well said, again. Thanks.
Awesome clarity, thank you. Out here.
I am really liking your channel. You're giving great advice for anything you think you want to do in life, not just the French Foreign Legion. Great job! You're helping people by doing this.
I appreciate that!
@tcavofficial hey brother
I really want to join
But I'm afraid I have herpes, would they check for that?
Always dropping excellent wisdom!💯
Always
@@tcavofficial From the stories you've posted, it seems you have always been highly intelligent, just were distracted/off course a bit when younger (who among us hasn't tho?) and once you found your focus you are totally driven to be a success, in anything you wish to do beyond military, I imagine!
Great to watch your channel grow Cav. 👍
Always awesome listening to TCav. 🎉 Thank You Brother
Great advice!!
Taylor... great episode... thank you for the information and inspiration. Stay Strong!
Most outstanding. Thank you for the Insite.
damn i just came onto your channel to rewatch some old vids and and wow, new upload. wasn’t expecting that. but damn bro keep up the good work, youre a real one.
Got u bro👊🏼
Thank you Brother! Love from Prescott, Az.
I am enjoying the content/stories brother! Keep them coming! You are killing it!!!! 🫡
Thank you Brother for some more wisdom you shared tonight. Stay safe and be good!
Bless you sir. Thanks for sharing.
Sounds like the composition of the FFL is like the 75RR. All its members go through the selection process whether you’re a door kicker, mechanic, or paralegal specialist.
Good thinking and honest presentation. Your lessons just roll from your heart and mind.
You are the wake-up call I needed ! Merci pour vos videos qui sont une source de motivation 👍
Hey mate,
Well spoken about the men who join, and there reasons on why they join.
Keep up the videos,
Great insight, out here
Much appreciated
Thanks for the wisdom it really helps me out on the out look on life .Thank you Sir 👍
It is now my favorite channel on RUclips.
I like the way you explain everything.
Probably the best vid of the legion, that the legion never produced.
Thanks for sharing your story. You are a true warrior sir and I wish this video was out 20 years ago.
This perspective is absolutely fascinating. We all know so little about anything yet we all experience so much. Thank you for everything.
Thanks boss! This is exactly!!! The type of shit im trying to hear about the Legion. Fascinating
This is some sick insight on something that I could never get solid answers on. Super interesting content and I can't wait for more.
There was a uk documentary a few years ago about the legion I just remember a Welsh guy on there saying "I'm a bad guy who deserves to be here". Felt quite sad for him in a way, but also thought he's rebuilding a life for himself.
Love this stuff bro. Semper Fi keep ‘em coming.
Thanks! Will do!
These are so very good.
Good talk man, take care!
This is bad ass, truly appreciate what you are doing, I think many folks need to hear your words, including your past interviews (and looking forward to your future ones). I’m a former Marine yet heard about you through one of my buddies who is a former team guy, and I have no doubt you will continue to succeed with your message, we need it. Be easy brother. ~SFi
Thank you for your service, advice, wisdom, and real life experiences.
You bet
Very happy about your lack of filler words giving yourself time to think (or read Idek) I find too many men who use "um" and "like"
Always find your “Why”……..the most important life question…..awesome as always, stay safe👍
Grind and Shine TCAV. Good stuff!
Yeahhh budddy‼️🤙🏼
I watched an interview you did on the Mike Ritland podcast recently. I was very inspired and impressed by the fight that you found within you to adapt and overcome every personal challenge you faced, including choosing life or death at one point when your personal situation became so desperate.
While our egos have a habit of causing us all to make bad decisions at various points in our lives getting us into challenging personal situations, not everyone has the internal fortitude to battle back and overcome these pivotal life moments. I have always been inspired by the underdog - in sports or in real life- who fights back against all odds. These are the stories that can even sometimes bring otherwise strong men to tears.
Thanks for the inspiring, raw, and honest story of your life quest to overcome your personal demons through your journey from the Navy Seals to the French Foreign Legion. My sincere wishes for good fortune and happiness through your exemplary discipline and ability to overcome personal hardships and pain. Much RESPECT man!
TCAV - thank you for your time in doing this, have watched at least 4-5 of your videos today, a lot of stuff I really needed to hear given where I'm at in my walk on this rock, thank you again sir for your time and please keep making these it really great stuff!!
Let's get your walk correct with a correct blueprint. Email me: tcavofficial@gmail.com
I love your message of knowing yourself and understanding your "why". I think many people set goals without thinking about why they want to do them. You don't want to be busy grinding towards a goal without having a true honest purpose of doing so. Otherwise, once you have completed that goal, you run the risk of feeling incomplete and a sense of now what. Love your stories. If it is at all possible I'd love to see you collab with some other channels.
Love every bit of your journey especially the way you tell it. Semper Fi from a regular grunt 2nd Battalion 7 Marines 1989-93 Forever have my respect and only hope the best for you
I always enjoy viewing your episodes and get motivated to strive for more... you're the MAN... thank you.
🫵🏻👊🏼
After finding your channel today I know one thing that I hope you never lose > You have an indomitable spirit. No freaking way you’re making to the teams and then after a lot of adversity join the FFL without that desire! Great channel and stay safe out there 🤙🏽
I’ve thought about this, the way you explained the French Foreign legion and your reasons makes sense. I read the legion of the lost, your perspective coming from a such a warrior background is insightful, anyone considering should see this
The wisdom off having people of all walks of life, fighters, office workers, mechanics, cooks etc.fantastic, wise words as usual 👏
Great show Cav..
👊🏼
Another great one brother
Much appreciated
Great talk man ! You remind me of rich piana bro ! Loved him and watched him always !
Extraordinary. Bonne chance. Best of Luck Brother.
Bro your grinding hard brother. Especially infantry man. Those lessons and brother hood you cant get anywhere else. Stay strong.
💯
Great videos brotha, allot of people think that warfighters are just drones. When in reality, it takes focus and critical thinking to keep your brothers and yourself alive during combat. It's ok to be nervous. Thats actually a good thing. It means that you're self aware and alert. What separates normal people from the warfighter is that the warfighter can over come the nervousness and critically think during the pressure of combat. Again, you explained it perfectly. It takes all ability types to run an operation. When your unite is in sync and trust is built, it’s an unstoppable force. "All The Way!"
Thank you for sharing your journey. You have developed a strong sense of balance and self awareness ... and...you have got such a gorgeous smile!💞
Just saying...
Listening to The Red Circle audiobook again. Madddd respect for all the US Naval Seal Operators ❤❤❤❤❤
Another great video with unique and interesting content. I have enjoyed and taken something away from all 22. Im happy to see the growth in your channel. Keep them coming brother, your a positive influence to alot of people!
GOT U brother👊🏼
Good job camarade. So many different type of guys in the legion. Only 2 unite them all, the legion and the beer ;). Take care camard thx for thé good job. Legio patria nostra.
TCAV! loving the channel! The reality and honesty you talk about is so important to portray. I served for 5 years in the British military a long time ago in the 1980's and i love the reality check you give on here from your experiences as most are dreamers and don't understand the exact mundane duties you describe as well as the reality of being in the FFL. I have the utmost respect for your service and the mental health you talk about. Mega channel TCAV respect.
👊🏼⚜️🔱
You're exerience/perspective is of it's absolute own accord...
I like this dude - very interesting to listen to
Good shit dude. Between you and Cody Alford I can listen to you both for hours during my work days. Appreciate the solid content
👊🏼 Cody's the man bro
I love the Tunisia Love and war lost love story
He had a guy join because his Uncle had served and he wanted to follow in his footsteps
He lasted 4 days
Keep putting these out TC they are gems
Great content
Your story is absolutely wild! Very cool stuff.
Thank you!
I think you made a good choice by joining the FFL. It shows that you have integrity and character. Even though you were in a bad circumstance when you joined, you sought to work on self development and improve your circumstances. It could have been real easy to get into more trouble. I see it all the time with the Veterans I try to help. Thanks for telling your story. It’s an inspiration! Much respect!
Love it!
Everybody thinking about joining the Legion should hear this speech. You've got to know your WHY!
I like your sense of humor. So important to mental health and well being. Levity is good. Thanks. 🤠
Mandatory for wellness
I got into a shit-ton of trouble when I was in the Corps back in the '80's - after I separated a pal tried talking me into the Legion, I didn't do it but I'm here because I still sometimes wonder what that would have been like.... Keep doing what you do, man
Respect. Again, I watched the vid thinking it would be interesting and it was. But the real value comes in the concluding remarks. Many thanks.
🤙🏼
Who would have thought just a few years ago that you are the same person that you are today I want to thank you for sharing your philosophy and look at life and as yourself as a person you've made me start to look different at myself as I'm sure you have many other subscribers. I believe the true definition of honesty is to be honest with yourself. Thanks again for sharing your life's journey.
My man!👊🏼
Best channel on RUclips
👊🏼
Could you do a video with pictures of some of your day to day activities? Maybe some deployments or pictures of your time in the Legion so far.
Love the videos, brother!
Check my Instagram. If you don't have IG download it and follow me. All my day to day is posted live
The information you're giving is invaluable. I thought this was just going to be some cool stories from the french foreign legion. Instead I find myself reflecting on myself
You see what i did there?;)
Great channel, very interesting thank you. And great french accent!
😆🤙🏼
Thank you 👍👍
Good for you man. I hope you keep with this new life and succeed. Don’t let your past demons grab hold of you again… it’s a struggle for me everyday.
Email me. Let's get you on a good program so theyre not a struggle. I have zero pull for old demons. You can too: tcavofficial@gmail.com
Channels growing fast man. Keep up the great content. Very engaging
Appreciate it!
I love this channel. Yer a really interesting and smart fellow.
It’s really great to see how you are progressing with this channel. You keep getting better. It’s good to see you laugh a little. I like seeing your numbers go up on the subs. I’m glad that I got in on the bottom rung. At some point, maybe do a video about whether you are going to extend your contract or what your plans may be after your legion time ends. I’m sure you have ideas but don’t want you to get in trouble with the legion if you’re going to get out.
Brother I appreciate your OG support. And trust that you will be on the journey with me. I have started this channel on full transparency I will always continue it as such.
@@tcavofficial I’m here for the ride🤙🤙
I have known and said before about the various types, the motivations and reasons for joining the Legion. Surely there are others, like you, could be wanting something to redeem their honor or proving others wrong by doing this.
I got to say one of the sad things about the Legion is that there are times they don't accept those even if they're passionate and motivated.
I let my 8 year old son watch these all the time the perfect example of strength tenacity and perseverance
We set the example
Last 2 minutes sum up what most young men need to hear. To understand it deeply.
My man you are an exceptional human being the way you describe things is really charismatic, especially when you said don’t float into it. You reminded me of Arnold Schwarzenegger saying “if you float in life, you will always be lost”.
I have a friend who served there, and told me things in Paris are so dangerous they had to help policemen otherwise they couldn’t patrol certain areas!
Also, he begs me not to go, because it’s not what I thought, and there is a lot of certain nationalities that overwhelm the rest and basically do what they want regardless of their rank, I don’t know if this is true. What I do know for sure because I come from Cyprus which has a compulsory national service is that for sure army is not what you see in the pictures.
My Grandfather was a French Foreign Leigionair and a boxer for them; he fought with the in WWI, WWII and French Indochina (French Vietnam).
Wish I did it.
Thanks for the breakdown.
That pic with the kepi is my fave so far.
👊🏼
TC story 22 was so interesting on the types and reasons why guys make that journey to join. Again I cannot imagine what the fk was going through you mind when taking all this in at the Legion selection process. Again at 61
years old with my own demons of policing in Toronto Ontario Canada for 30 years. Retired thank fk. I cannot explain how interesting I find your tutorials on life in the Legion.
I am getting ahead, however with a year left in your contract, I would like to know if you have plans to stay or move on from the Legion. I am sure that will be a later segment. Keep your head down and stay safe.
You'll be on the journey with me brother
Merry Christmas have good one
