I'm a professional watchmaker, I service all the watch brands including Rolex and Patek Philippe, and I make watch parts as well, I have to say, I'm impressed with your video. you did well.
I've thought about building myself a custom watch but after watching many videos i decided against it. Not because it is "hard" but for one simple reason if i'm gonna start i'm not gonna stop.
My AliExpress cart was loaded with all kinds of watch parts, but I didn’t place the order for the very same reason. Once I start, I know I won’t be able to stop
If you want a tiny pop of color you can put a small piece of clear tape over the back of the date window on the dial and color the tape with a sharpie. Once it's sealed up no dust will get on the tape so it stays clean and just looks like a custom colored date wheel - but for basically free, with no movement demo, and easy removal. This works best on white day/date wheels.
@@elisabef as long as you have things for pushing the hands, a movement holder or cushion, a plastic ball for opening and closing the case, wire cutters for the stem, and rodico for holding and cleaning, you should be all set. Additionally, a hand dust air blower and plastic twizzers
Addressing a common misconception: screw down crowns do no make things more waterproof. They just make it more unlikely it could be opened underwater. Push/pull crowns are fine to 300m if they are made well, and in fact often outlive screw down crowns because there are no threads to strip over time.
Hey, professional watchmaker here and I would like you to cite your sources. If you look at patent drawings for a lot of screw down crowns, including several iterations of the ones that Rolex make, it's easy to see that they provide additional layers of sealing and additional pressure on the crown seals that a standard push pull crown does not, as these are typically only sealed inside the case tube. I hear this argument about screw down crowns being made but I don't ever see it substantiated so could you please tell me where the information comes from?
@@WatchmakerErikyou’re right, poor wording in my comment. In the video, he says it isn’t a screw down crown and “it won’t be completely waterproof.” Screw down crowns add additional waterproofing, yes, but to say a watch isn’t waterproof without a screw down crown is also incorrect. 98% of us wearing dive watches will get them in water no deeper than a 5 meter swimming pool.
That is so cool! I used to be into watch repairs as a hobby. It was fun, but the cost of buying even broken movements was absurd. I didn't even know you could get watch building parts from China, and there's so much variety to build a completely custom watch for a low cost. Time to get ordering. Thanks for the inspiration!
looks like a gumball machine watch. but your videos are so chill to watch. u should do more watch videos elliot. maybe some vintage restorations? love that videos of you!
I'm not much of a watch (or jewellery) wearer. In fact, even clothes get on my nerves! But this video has just inspired me to make one of these watches, because it does look absolutely awesome. Another cracking video, Elliot - keep 'em coming!!
I discovered you when I started modding handhelds and then rediscovered you when I started building watches. I never put two and two together that it was the same person. Just another thing on this channel to love! Also damn I'm gonna have to build a transparent watch now
That's actually pretty well done when you're just starting out, that is a really nice built and we love it! It's Seiko movement will guaranteed accuracy and the looks are just brilliant, brings a smile to my face when i see you finished it.
I have always liked how those diver watches looked but never paid attention to them because of the price. Now you got me ordering parts from aliexpress and spending my hard earned money. You will explain this to my wife man!
This guy is a multi talented.. An artist of multi arts.. He's the singer, he can be the repairman.. He's also the mechanic.. Now he's the watchmaker.. Another sub for you.. Keep it up!
I absolutely love watches, the high end watch brands are out of my budget but the AMZWATCH has literally an almost duplicate of every single watch on the market . Always a great but no matter your budget.
FYI little trick is to use the movement case as a clamp for the temporary stem. You then pull on that while pushing the stem release button and it’s so easy!
This is actually such a cool build, I've seen all your other ones and this might be my favourite I've seen you build. So unique, and I've actually bought the same parts to make a watch in the same style
I find it a bit easier if after you have the hour hand in place, you set the time to 6 o'clock before trying to put on the minute hand. That way the hour hand isn't in the way when you are trying to align the minute hand.
I’d recommend going to his first watch making video! He outlines his tools he got for his first time and as he posts more watch vids, he upgrades them. Also, would recommend watching his “building my dream gmt watch” where he gets some new ones
@@jojos438 I've watched all of these already. I'm interested in the small changes and what difficulty each upgraded tool eases. If I'm going to jump headfirst I'd like all the information and opinion I can get
got my 39mm with the white dial on the 3-link "Bader" bracelet watch on AMZWATCH 3 weeks ago and am loving it to pieces. Absolute fantastic watch that wears super comfortable on my 6.75 inch wrist. Chose the 3-link over the 5-link bracelet for the toolless quick adjustment. Way more comfortable than my Longines Hydroconquest 41 mm.
I bought a black Seiko automatic a few years ago and it's a great watch. Your videos inspired me to do a white and silver Ali Express custom Seiko for a more summertime look, I love it and it's actually more accurate! Really tricky to source blue glow everything, but it looks great and the hands have a sort of Tiffany Blue color that's quite striking Also, not sure if you know, but you can get day & date dials that are lumed too
Let me address your intro.. 1. If ever there was an argument to be made for using a high-grade Sellita instead of the basic nh35 I think this is it. The nh35 is a very good movement and there is a certain beauty to any mechanical movement, but I would not call the NH 35 pretty. 2. That is an oyster style not a jubilee. 3. That class is pretty dreadful but they do make replacement clasps. I think the thing that bothers me about it the most is not that it's so cheap, but that it's a fashion watch style trifold with no micro adjust, when they could have put an equally cheap divers clasp on it and had something a little bit more appropriate. This is an interesting build and I will be interested to see how it goes. Thanks for sharing with us!
this would have been super sick with a skeleton movement to match the clear aspect of the watch! been loving these watch videos infact im going to order some parts and build a set for my dad and my brothers and your videos inspired me to make one and yesterday i made my first watch!
love how he made the mistake with the crown in the first video and now it is it's own little segment that has the lore for the day one's of the watchmaking series. Love your videos Eliot you're inspiring
Been watching your videos for a while now and was inspired to start a collection. Started with the AMZWATCH, its specs for price and clean looks, now am looking for a dress watch to add.
You need to build a nice field watch now :) Also oddly enough my watch obsession kinda started because of you! I got my first watch (Seiko srpd55) and i am in love!
This is wild! I just discovered your channel a few days ago and decided to make one myself and it's almost exactly like this except I got a blue suede strap with the orange stiching and an orange second hand. Also my neutered face is more nautilus inspired. I ordered it all a week ago still waiting to arrive.
If you are getting the dial flat enough that the watch runs fine then I guess it doesn't matter, but I always take a needle file and file off the last little bit of the dial feet I'm not using.

Bro - you should do way more watch-building videos. You're quite good at them, and they are calming to the soul and pleasing to the eye - bravo!
Replace the outer bezel with a half-red, half-blue to make a “crystal pepsi” watch 😂😂
