That Reverso is perhaps the most beautiful watch in the world. The sheer engineering and design language, no wonder JLC is the watchmaker's watchmaker.
I’m not saying the VC isn’t impressive because it most certainly is but the breathtaking artistry, ,engineering, and design language of this Reverso is absolutely mind blowing. What’s more is it accomplishes this level of avant-garde design while still remaining classical and timeless. One of the most amazing watches I’ve ever seen and while I love what JLC does I’ve always felt their designs were missing some little something. Apparently they were saving each one of those somethings to put in this watch. Just glorious.
My preference is the Vacheron Constantin. The rear dial of said watch clinches the decision. The transparent sidereal star map is gorgeous. Prefer it a lot more than the 3rd and 4th dials of the JLC.
These watches are completely nuts. The engineering involved is epic. The Reverso is a complicated work of mechanical art. I would never wear any of these though to wash the dishes though.
I would wear one of these every time i turn my computer on to work. I'd look at them and think about the engineering marvels on my wrist and the tools at my fingertips and it would inspire me to create something with as much passion as those people that made those beautiful things
Great video as usual. I don’t mind the title some others are calling clickbait - the title is one of the only things that is going to attract views, which surely keeps the channel going. The video always delivers so it’s not misleading. I’d like to see this channel grow even more so keep doing what you’ve got to do to please RUclips!
Of the three watches here, the JLC Infinity is my favorite, while the Happy Days watch is my least. Diner kitsch is just that, it's kitsch. My hat is off to the watchmakers for engineering this marvel but sticking a jukebox in the Louvre doesn't make the jukebox a masterpiece.
If a can of tomato soup can become a masterpiece, a jukebox can as well... Actually putting a jukebox in the louvres would be making it a masterpiece...
If anyone had any doubt about human engineering and the possibilities of it look no further than these three watches. I can repair a simple watch probably a chronometer...but these are daunting to even look at ( comprehend ) let alone dismantle diagnose and repair ! Bravo to those horologists and their patrons. Well done Watchfinder fellows !
BS. A simple watch is just 3 hand set and probably with a date complication, being a Chronometer doesn’t make it any more complicated. You doesn’t seem to know what you’re talking.
I was thinking along the lines of, this watch doesn't get sent to the local jewelry store for servicing, it gets sent back to JLC for their experts to disassemble, clean, and lube. As I'd said earlier, I couldn't afford the cost or servicing, much less the cost of the watch. But man how I'd love to have one!
Yeah, I missed that earlier. But I actually AM curious about Fez. Fez seems very confused, as demonstrated by that response which has all the insight, intellect, and instinct of a squirrel-hunter's belch. Obviously Fez is threatened or offended by something mentioned in FLATHEAD BEAR'S rather charming compliment.
The Reverso is gorgeous. I think the fact that the base of the watch should be counted as adding at least 2 more Complications one for each side if not more than 2 seeing the challenge of transmitting power and information between the movement where that transmission not only has to swivel but also slide when the movement is flipped! Also in terms of aesthetics, the Reverso wins handsdown. The VC looks kind of like what you guys described at 1:50 ... running out of space and just fitting this function here and that over there and squeezing the other in that corner under that and this.... etc. The VC may have more complications but just complications for complications sake does not make it beautiful. The opus 14 is complicated in a different way and yet the design language gels well just like the JLC.
I'm in awe of the beauty and engineering genius involved in the design ideas and then actually being able to build these masterpieces. But as I listened and heard them say how the reality is that you'd never really use most of the complications. Id love to see someone design a watch with the idea in mind of adding complications that people would actually use fairly regularly. I'm trying to think of some right now and it's tough, so that would be the real achievement in thinking of what people need on a daily basis that could be turned into complications.
"I want my money next full moon!" That was hilarious. I hope they owe you more than $150k because you just threw more than that through the window. Mechanical Henry Winkler was a close second.
One thing that is melting my brain is how that JLC transfers energy from the spring to the complications on the double-back-dials?? The main case slides from one side to another, there are no visible gears to transfer that energy
That JLC left me speechless. It is an absolute marvel of human achievement in engineering. Honestly, looking at that watch made me feel like a semi-literate chimpanzee…and I’m quite skilled at what I do. Eternal thanks for this video and the thorough deflation of my unjustifiable ego.
