Over time I've collected about fifty, mostly digital Casio, watches, from 1985 up to now, some turned out to be quite rare. I have this model as well, it is really popular and a very good watch for the price. My wife just gave me a Casio Beach Time Lapse watch (dark version) for my birthday and it looks awesome. I personally rather switch between wearing lots of unique watches than to wear the same smart watch every day.
Yes I've recently started getting into watches. I have a Seiko and a couple of smaller brands, my latest being an Erubus (Just one more watch) and a wooden dial one my wife brought back from holiday. I have modded a Casio Royal with parts from skxmod, but removed some of the extra text (Thanks Googone).
What a spectacular creation by Zac! We're especially thrilled to see our Skylab '73 IVA strap included in the build! Like you both, we're huge space history fans, particularly for the innovation and creativity of the early manned space flight days. The Skylab era in itself is fascinating, to build a temporary station using components and the know how to hand. We've always loved your channel Adam!
Specifically, it's the version from the reboot series. Original Ghost wore a balaclava with a skull pattern on it, while Reboot Ghost wears a more solid skull mask
Im a watch guy and a space nut, proud owner of a 1968 Speedmaster, which my father gave me brand new in March. 1969, and is still running strong. I also have the Casio World Timer and wear it often. Your modded unit is amazing and I am inspired to do the same mods to mine. Thanks for sharing.
That's a pretty sharp looking watch, and as a kid who grew up in the late '80s and '90s wearing tons of Casio watches, I would absolutely love having one of those in my collection. Nice work, man! (And the spacesuit orange strap is *chef kiss*.)
I've been wearing the same old model, a basic $20 Casio watch for about the last 20 years. They keep great time and are extremely reliable, as long as you keep in mind what they're made to put up with.
Cooool! Looks like someone uses our matte white faceplate to make this NASA mod. Adam, if you want something more durable than the original casing. Or just keep accessoring it. Just let us know!
Was just about to say... I know all those mods. Mostly because I used a bunch of them to build my X-Wing pilot watch. Still saving up for the matte black case to build my next Tie Defender project. BTW, you guys make an amazing product!
@@83dude Adam Savage (Mythbusters) complained recently that both of his Omega Seamasters are on the fritz. My AT went to get a service a week after I bought it brand new. Anecdotal evidence, but for pure reliability I’d trust a $250 Casio G-Shock (or Citizen Promaster for that matter) a lot more than a $6000+ Omega, simply because the number of moving parts is far smaller when you use electronics, and a quartz watch lacks the ultra-thin pinions that can shear off when you drop a mechanical watch. This is not a criticism of mechanical watches, I wear them all the time, but if I’d go on an Omega sponsored expedition I’d have a G-Shock in my backpack as a backup.
That's an awesome gift. The watch mod community is a really good one with a tonne of creators sharing their skills and ideas with the world. I own the original version of this very watch, which is famous in the watch collector world. It's cheap, but keeps excellent time, has a heap of useful functions and can easily be modded like this example. Love it. ❤️❤️
Adam you got me into watches with your modded Seiko. My first watch was an SKX that I modded. I’m now a Seiko fanatic and amateur watchmaker and love nothing more than stripping down and servicing vintage Japanese watches. I thank you sir.
Same ... my favourite at the moment is a 1973 gold-faced "Pogue" which I restored. I'm sure Adam would love that as the "first automatic chronograph in space"
Yes! I've got two of them: 1 with matte steel case & bracelet and silver sunburst faceplate, and a bronze case with black caseback and black FKM rubber strap, which comes with a bronze buckle. They're so cool.
That way is a staple for thousands of collectors. It's a great beater budget watch . I've owned one for many years the weather great and look great . Nice gift
I've had this watch for almost 10 years and its still going strong. I love that it takes a larger battery and that its so easy to replace. Maybe its time to mod it.
I recently got into watchmaking this past year, and I gravitated to railroad grade watches, historical advancements, and George Daniels. There are some fascinating videos here on RUclips about the man. His watches are a leap forward when the world was looking for cheap accuracy. No oil required, a novel escapement mechanism, and entirely handmade minus a hairspring or so. His Space Traveller is a masterpiece, but his Grand Complication that he carried to the day of his death was my favorite. He is one of the master makers we have known as a species, and his legacy lives on in Roger W. Smith, Omega's Co-Axial Escapement, and all the people he still inspires.

Ironically I just bought an AE-1200 and am wearing it right now. Two things about that watch: (1) it has a 10 year battery, and (2) if it has a catestrophic failure it's easy (and cheap) to just by a new one and swapthe main module into that custom one... the only tricky part might be getting a new NASA logo. Also want to get a new seal and screws to naintain the water resistance, but those are easily available.

The watch looks awesome! I’m already a big fan of the AE 1200 - the “Casio Royale” - but those mods make it even more cool. And it’s not a stopwatch that the NASA meatball covers. The watch still has that function. No, it just a small LCD version of a two hand analog display. It’s redundant and really kinda superfluous as it’s difficult to read for most eyes that are north of 20 years old.
