@@simonl4523 Naw bro I did it for years. Well into my 60's now but for years I would take a week off and go to Daniel Boone National Forest and disappear. I needed to clear my head from being a project manager and nothing cleanses like nature.
I'm 61 and got away from camping for many years. But a long story short. I'm back and can't wait to start camping. I'm getting all my equipment back. It's so therapeutic to get out of the woods and just relax. I really enjoyed watching your videos
Camp all set up , listening to the rain and the rumble of thunder, watching the camp fire and I'm sitting here watching while my eyes glaze and drool run down my chin 🤤 , dang it , hoping some rain hits here soon .
I know you're a gear minimalist, which I've come to respect about you, but I'm happy to see you adding some stainless steel to your rotation, especially the Nalgene container. I purchased one 2 months ago, and come to enjoy drinking my water out of it.
Welcome back and not a minute too soon. I absolutely love your adventures and you just have that calming voice which resonates peace. You offer the best examples of bushcraft out of all of the channels I subscribe to. I can’t wait for part 2 and thanks for taking us along with you. Best wishes from London.
Hey man!....this was great. Glad the fire bans were lifted so you could get out there.....Boy that steak looked great, new video new haircut??....I was convinced you were gonna break out the pipe after that meal....thanks Ryley, another great video
Best bush craft videos I've seen. ☺️☺️ I started with the winter ones. Reminds me of my visits to North Siberia. We used to go there for New Year's to my wife's family ☺️
Please please please continue this series, already it feels so informative on the process. I have just found your channel and this is a great first impression
Super excited to see you back at it!!! I think your videos are the best authentic bushcrafting videos on RUclips! ....they teach, entertain, and the quality is amazing!!! I appreciate your authenticity, and not using "bushcraft gadgets" but instead use bushcraft skills. Thank you for bringing us along. You make it all look so effortless, the true sign of mastery...that you no doubt have worked hard to acquire. Thank you!
I really enjoy your videos. You add just enough narration to basically describe what you are doing but not much more. You have, in my opinion balanced action and narration. I can only compare it to a PBS documentary with David Attenborough. Keep it up sir!
Many moons ago you used to make what essentially were ASMR videos with a voice over edited in, hard to describe but they were very unique and much appreciated. Timeline escapes me but it must have been several years back. Glad to see you once again in the wild enjoying what we all need...nature. See you next time, thanks.
Hi there, first-time time viewing this channel. Now I could tell from the introduction that I was going to enjoy the rest of the show I saw that you knew what you were about to talk about and I was surprised that your beard was so well trimmed now back to the show was that thunder I just heard 😮😅
New subscriber here, I enjoy the simplicity of your tarp shelter, it inspires me to try it someday. Have watched a few of your tutorials and i find them extremely helpful, thank you. I found this channel looking up tarp set ups and your videos are so great to watch and are very useful.
Nice to see you in the woods again. I hope everything is well for you. It's always nice to see how effortlessly you manage to evolve in the wild. You have been growing a mighty beard ! Take it easy, hope to see more videos soon.
Hey dude, you might enjoy bringing a seasoning packet along with you to throw into your rice. Just some chicken bullion and other dry spices. Only weighs an once, and will make your meal even more tasty!
I love your videos. How do you keep your steak from going bad while you hike? In the winter, I figured it was cold enough, but not sure about summer food safety.
Did you pre-season your pan at home before leaving? Every time I fry something in my stainless steel skillet, it sticks! Thanks for the elite content as always 🫡
Great to see you back. Wondering if you’d mind telling me where you got the larger pot - the one you boiled water in? Looking forward to the next video

@@KuskBushcraft thanks so much for taking the time to reply. You’re one of the very few who do and it’s nice to know you actually read comments posted by your viewers. Judging from some of the comments I’ve heard in some videos I’m guessing you’re up in northern Alberta? My stomping grounds as well although my bushcrafting is not in your league. Thanks again
Thx for your videos, they're both educative and entertaining! I wanted to ask two questions: 1) How far from the nearest town/road do you make your camping sites? 2) Have you ever encountered or had any trouble with the wildlife?
I hope to take a trip away from the noise of the city, away from everything that bothers you. You have made the forest a home without humans, the earth has been covered with stars, good luck my friend.
Saw your video could have shown the water being made good. What to say that you didn't use the water from the stream to cook the rice. Did you have another bottle with you?
The tarp is an 8'x8' cotton tarp made from a 600 thread count bed sheet. I made it a few years ago, stitched on the tie-out loops with reinforcements, and waxed it for added water proofing. Thank you for watching! Happy trails.
I've never had issues with bears being aggressive. I do carry bear spray just in case, but if I were to encounter a bear displaying aggressive behaviour I would leave the area. If the bear were to false charge or if it came to me having to use bear spray to deter it, I would get out of the area and notify the local Fish & Wildlife authorities. There are a lot of bears in the areas I camp but they tend to avoid humans. The best defense when it comes to bears is having a good education on bear behaviour and bear safety. I'd highly recommend taking a bear safety course to anyone that's planning on spending time outdoors in bear country.
I had to abandon that site as I no longer have permission to use that area for camping. My plan is to begin a new permanent shelter later this summer so I can live out of it this winter. Thank you for watching!

You are correct, all my videos are filmed in Alberta. Where abouts are you located? I'm in northern AB these days.
Have you considered applying to go out on the show alone? Would be cool to see you on there next season.
I have applied in the past but sadly wasn't chosen as one of the participants.
Love your vids. They are quite soothing and allowed me vicarious adventures. Do you ever worry about bears or other predators out there alone?
Thank you! I'm not overly concerned about predators when I camp. In these remote wilderness areas they tend to avoid humans.
Thx for your videos, they're both educative and entertaining!
I wanted to ask two questions:
1) How far from the nearest town/road do you make your camping sites?
2) Have you ever encountered or had any trouble with the wildlife?

Young Black Bear. Thanks for watching!
Kusk, do you ever worry about animal encounters at night since you sleep in partly open shelter? Like wolves or bears or raccoons?
The flowing water at 10:01 is a nice demonstration of how youtube compresses the video file
Yea the compression really ruins some shots.
How do you keep the ticks away?
Why was the water that color?. Is it drinkable?.

I prefer blankets.
They're my preference too. Thanks for watching.
How big is your tarp?
8 feet x 8 feet
What was the mosquitoe situation like?
