Spring Campout with Tarp Shelter and Wool Blankets

- My first camping trip of 2021 has finally arrived! It felt so good to be back out sleeping in the outdoors. On this trip I just enjoyed myself, made a super comfy camp, and had a relaxing time.
My bed was extremely comfortable. It composed of spruce boughs, a foam sleep pad, and two wool blankets. One of the comfiest bushcraft beds I've ever slept in.
My meals were both pretty simple. For dinner a bbq bacon burger that was grilled on sticks over a bed of coals. No need for those tiny metal bushcraft grills in my camp. I'll be doing more stick grilling in the future to see what can be done with a grill made of sticks.
My breakfast was a honey oat cake. I made the recipe up myself just from messing around with ingredients at home. I ended up making my fire too hot though and the oat cake began to burn. I saved it from being inedible, but it fell apart in the pan and didn't turn out how it usually does. I'll redo this recipe another time to redeem myself.
All in all it was a fantastic trip. Can't wait to get back out there soon!

Yes .. scientifically too .. well partially .. perhaps 😏.
A 'hot spot' will be formed between you and the fire. That air will rise and be replaced by some of the smoke coming off the fire.
Another reason for a screen behind a fire .. to draw smoke towards it.

I just got done eating a plate of meatloaf and now you're making me hungry again!
I carry a large onion or two along, to add to foods. My supper is usually a tortilla with refried beans and diced onion.
I get a pack of freeze dried refried beans, divide them into serving size, and put the servings into individual sandwich sized Ziplock bags. Add dried seasonings to each bag.
In camp, I heat water, add some to a cup for tea, and some in the little bag of beans. While they rehydrate, I dice some onion onto a tortilla, and enjoy tea. I carry tortillas inside 2 plastic frisbees. Frisbees serve as a carrying case, plates, and toys.

Good stuff as always. I as well, enjoy cooking on a bushcraft wooden grill. Cooked many a burger , ribs, chicken, using a wood grill or basket weave. Bullet is good stuff, not bad at all! Breakfast looks real good. I'll have to give that a go sometime. Well done Thanks for the share. Cheers

That blue pad makes a nice “easy chair” when you sit on it up against a tree. It’s long enough to have double thickness for a seat, and still have a padded backrest.

I will not ask you where the cheese is. Im like you i don't like cheese either. When my son gets me a hamburger i always tell him no cheese. I like cheese just not on burgers.
